YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk revealed that YG will be debuting a new girl group soon. The girl group will be co-debuting with their newest boy group, iKON after MIX&MATCH.

At a press conference on 8 November, Yang Hyun Suk announced that it will be a 4-member girl group called Athenas. He said, "Athenas is the greek goddess of war, wisdom and courage. Similarly, the group symbolises strength and bravery, strategy and winners of wars. The four girls, I thope, will be able to shine and win 'wars' in Korea and global entertainment Industry." 

He also stated, "iKON and Athenas will be debuting together, hopefully. Or one earlier than the other. Athenas is a girl group that have been around earlier than WINNER and iKON, so it is right to debut them soon. I feel that the girls are ready to debut and I hope everyone will think so too."

It has been confirmed that there will be the airing of 'Athenas TV' in November 2014 but the date has not been released yet. It is also rumoured that it will be a combined TV for iKON and Athenas, naming it KONTHENA TV, though nothing has been confirmed for this. 'Athenas TV' is rumoured to be after 20th December.
