Chapter 2: Trapped Between a Rock, A Bar, And Hundreds of Dead Guys
The Blood Splattered ApocalypseThe sound of gunshots filled the air as a group of nine
survivors found themselves outnumbered and
surrounded by a group of the Biters that picked them
off almost one at a time as a woman with short red
hair fired a pistol into the crowd of Biters along with a
bald man while and elderly woman and young boy
stood behind them.
"We're trapped." said an elderly woman as a Biter went
to take a bite out of her it was stopped by the
redheaded woman who shot the creature in the side of
the head before returning to shooting while another
woman with long brown colored hair tied into a ponytail
scanned the area for place to hide.
"Heather did you find anything?" asked the woman as
she continued to shoot.
"No now shut up Rachel and keep shooting." said the
brown haired woman as she continued to find a
location just as the redhead went to reload her gun but
failed to notice a Biter that was inches away from
taking a chunk of flesh from her neck as she froze in
terror before watching the creature fall to the ground
with a knife sticking out of its forehead.
"What the-!" started the woman as she turned her head
along with the others to watch as a hooded figure
moved past her.
"Who the is that?" asked a skinny elderly man with
a short graying hair as he watched Mark reach into his
back pocket before pulling out a tear gas canister and
throwing it into the herd of Biters as the group watched
as smoke started to surround the creatures as a smile
spread across Mark's masked face as he turned around
and pulled his knife from the Biters head as the group
looked at him with wide eyes.
"Follow me if you want to live." said Mark as he re-
sheathed his knife before beginning to run down the
street with the group of survivors following them just as
the tear gas started to fade from the view of the Biters
as they looked around for the disappearing meals
before going back to lumbering around as Mark took a
seat on the counter of the bar while watched the men
from the group move a pool table in front of the door
while the redhead haired woman looked out of one of
the grated window.
"That was too close." said the teenage boy as he took
a deep breath before pressing his back against the
wall.
"We wouldn't have been in that mess if it wasn't for
you running your damn mouth." said the well muscled
bald man as Mark eyed the group with interesting eyes
while his mouth and nose remained hidden behind his
mask.
"Calm down Hank." said the redheaded haired woman
as she eyed man with anger in her eyes.
"You're just at fault little miss trigger finger." said the
man as Mark rolled his eyes before looking into his
backpack and giving a low groan just as the group got
into a chorus of yells that was bound to earn the
attention of the dead as Mark noticed the redhead on
the side with the skinny teenager and the elderly man
while the muscled man and the brown haired woman
argued with them and the elderly woman stood along
the side with the child as Mark noticed he was only a
young boy no older than nine before rolling his eyes.
" Damn that was my last tear gas canister !" thought
Mark as he tried to ignore the screams coming from
the people to no avail as he stepped off the counter.
"Hey we should be thanking that guy for saving us not
arguing." said the teenager as he turned his head to
look at the counter he noticed the empty space.
"Where did he go?" asked the redheaded woman as she
looked around the bar before hearing a noise as they
watched Mark emerge from the men's restroom with an
anger in his eyes.
"Damn gated windows." said Mark as he turned his
head and noticed the group of people staring at him.
"The y'all looking at?" asked Mark as he eyed the
group.
"Were you trying to leave us here?" asked the brown
haired woman.
"Oh no I wasn't trying to sneak out the men's
bathroom window while you guys were busy screaming
your heads off." replied a sarcastic Mark as the woman
rolled her eyes.
"No need to be a about it." replied the brown
haired woman with venom in her voice as the group
eyed Mark.
"Being a is the understatement the yelling drew a
few of them into the back alley so we aren't going
anywhere for a while." said Mark as he took a seat on
the table just as the group watched him.
"Who are you?" asked the well muscled bald man as he
pointed his Shotgun at Mark's masked face earning an
angry look from Mark as he eyed the man.
"I save your life and this is the thanks I get?" asked
Mark.
"Don't feel bad we need to know if you're a threat."
said the brown haired woman as Mark rolled his eyes.
"Fair enough!" said Mark as he pulled his hood from off
of his head revealing his black hair and pulled his mask
from over his mouth revealing a small amount of chin
hair as the brown haired woman looked at Mark in
udder disbelief.
"I know who you are." said the woman as Mark eyed
her with confused eyes.
"You're the guy that saved our lives in Philadelphia."
said the woman as the skinny teem nodded his head in
agreement.
"Yeah you're the guy that blowup that car." said the
teen as Mark lowered his head at the thoughts of
killing his friend in the process before he heard the
familiar cocking of a Shotgun as he looked up at the
well muscled man who had his gun pointed at him with
anger in his eyes.
"Hank what are you doing?" asked the skinny teen as
Mark eyed the man with anger in his eyes.
"Doing what you all are afraid to do, now hand over
your weapons and that bag." said the man as he kept
his gun to Mark's head.
"What are you doing, we can't rob this man he saved
all our lives twice." said the brown haired woman.
"Doesn't matter we can't trust him, we barely know
him." said Hank.
"We know he isn't a threat Hank. If he was he wouldn't
have saved our lives back there." said the elderly man
as Hank continued to eye Mark with anger in his eyes
as Mark took a deep breath before rising off the table.
"Don't move!" said Hank as Mark looked at him with
anger in his eyes.
"Don't do this a kid , there's a child in here." said the
elderly woman as Mark reached into his back pocket
before tossing his gun and his knife to the floor of the
bar as a smile spread across the man face.
"Now hand over the bag." said the man as Mark
grabbed a hold of his bag he quickly tossed it over
towards Hank's feet before rushing him and grabbing a
hold of his gun and kneeing the man below the belt
causing him to lurch forward as Mark grabbed a hold of
the back of the man's head before slamming it against
the edge of the table with enough force to cause the
man's head to bleed as he picked up the man's
Shotgun before pointing it at his head as the group of
people tried to talk him out of pulling the trigger as he
eyed them with an angry look on his face.
"I don't like being threatened." said Mark as he unload
the shells from the Shotgun before setting it on the
counter top as he picked up his knife and gun before
eyeing the group.
"Jesus!" said the brown haired woman as she rushed
to the side of Hank.
"Little word of advice we're gonna be stuck here for a
while and the more noise you make the more you
attract. Now if you don't mind I'll be spending that
time in the back alone." said Mark as he jumped over
the counter of the bar before making his way into the
back.
" Just what I need a dysfunctionalband of arguing
s and to make it worse one of them is a Cobra ."
thought Mark as he remembered the angry look on the
face of Hank while the thought of his current situation
worked its way into his mind as he pressed his back up
against the wall of the room while a million thoughts
ran through his head almost like a locomotive as
minutes turned to hours before Mark felt the urge to
sleep wash over him as he quickly dosed off.
"Hey buddy wake up buddy." came a somewhat familiar
voice as Mark opened his eyes and noticed the elderly
man, woman, and the young boy looking at him with
mixed expressions as Mark stretched himself out.
"How long have I been out?" asked Mark.
"About a few hours you looked almost peaceful." said
the man as Mark rubbed the sleep from his eyes.
"Three days of no sleep will do that to you." said Mark
as he eyed the man.
"Yeah, mister on behalf of our family we came in here
to thank you. If it wasn't for your help in Philly I doubt
any of us would have gotten out of there alive." said
the man as Mark nodded his head.
"Don't worry yourselves about that it was the right
thing to do." said Mark earning a nod from the group.
"Can we have your name?" asked the elderly man as
Mark nodded his head.
"Marcus my friend call me Mark though." said Mark
earning a nod from the man.
"It's nice to meet you Mark the names Dav
