The Gardener
Detective Beenzino
"Mr Jung?" I questioned, stepping into the greenhouse, Chanyeol following close behind. The gardener turned around, waving.
"Are you here to interview me or something? Word got around the manor fast." San said, picking up a tray full of transplants.
"Yes, yes we are."
"Great."
I drummed my fingers on the table in thought. "When did you last see the hairline?"
"Last Tuesday. Mr Dok2 was coming back from the local hatmaker convention. He went to bed and on Wednesday it was gone." San sighed, scratching his side with his thick gardening gloves.
"Did you see any evidence or clues to the disappearance?"
San looked up, squinting in thought. "Mmm, the butler might have taken it. He's a real jerk, you see. He turned me down when I asked him out, and I offered to pay and everything."
"The butler? What's his name?" I asked. I had never heard of a butler in the house.
"Vasco. I wouldn't put it past him, shady bastard." San grumbled, flicking a dirt-clod.
Chanyeol exhaled deeply. "Do you have any other reason to blame Vasco besides the fact that he turned you down?"
"Well, uh, Vasco's kinda shady. Real suave guy, if you know what I mean. Like one of those mafia guys. He mighta been in debt and had to sell he hairline."
I decided to question further. "How would he steal the hairline?"
San shrugged. "Magic?"
"Funny story, local rumor has it that the hairline "magically disappeared" and you were related to a witch." I stated, and Chanyeol swung open the trusty notebook.
"Ugh, now don't tell me you believe in that magic stuff. Even if I was related to a witch, why would I want to "magically" remove his hairline?"
"Dodging the question, I see."
San gaped, all out of character. "No, no sir, it's just that Dok2 is a good boss and all, and even when he's a little annoying I'd have no reason to steal his hairline. How does someone even steal a hairline?!" San squeaked. His cool and calm exterior had cracked. Suspicious.
"I see. As for now you're off the hook, but you better be telling the truth." I stated, glaring at the gardener before turning on my heel, leaving the greenhouse with Chanyeol trailing behind.
