Minho's Thoughts 3
Blueberry Stars
Next week Minho made sugar coated blueberry scones, an easy enough task, but he challenged himself to fold the tricky dough into fist sized stars. Most of them came out looking like birds or just misshapen cookies, but after about a dozen tries he made a few that resembled stars. While baking though the dough went through its magical rising transformation and they turned into puffy, pointy circles.
Through out the day no one seemed to notice, even Amber didn’t say anything about the shape, only how good they were. Minho felt a little disappointed, but like his teacher said, presentation was only half as important as having a product. At least he had something to put in the case so when 4pm came around and the boy came in, walked up to the counter, eyes glued to his phone, he at least had something to order.
Minho was in the middle of cleaning the espresso machine so Amber took his order today. Minho saw the boy's brow seemed permanently creased on his forehead and he only looked up for a brief moment to talk to Amber and order before returning to his phone. He looked agitated and bit at his bottom lip as he typed on the little device. Minho noticed Amber grab a to-go cup and put his scones in a bag instead of a plate; he wasn’t staying today.
Amber placed the little snack bag in front of him and bustled off to make his drink. Minho watched him set down his phone with a sad look and pick up the snack bag. He pulled out the scone and a look of warmth and pure gratefulness clamed his angelic face. He looked up and scanned the coffee shop until his eyes landed on Minho. He felt his heart jump as the boy motioned to the scone and mouthed the words, 'thank you.'
Amber brought him his cup and as quickly as he had come in, he was gone.
