All his life, Sehun defines happiness as being looked up upon; sucessful, admired, and accepted by everyone. He could never be fully happy unless he achieves perfection, and although he's been told many times that nobody is perfect, he's willing to try anyway.
But at just 18 years of age, he's diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer, and everything in his life just seems to come crashing down. To him, another day alive means that the ticking bomb inside him shortens and collateral damage only spreads. He wants his lungs to stop grappling with the illness and just give up, like he already did. He wants to stop breathing. He wants it to end.
And then - like a page right out of a romance novels - he meets Luhan, and in him, Sehun finally finds solace and love. It's okay if no one else understands, because as long as they're in each other's arms, all seems fine with the world. That's all that should matter. Isn't it?
Note: I read it all in one go, and I think it's really beautiful. As a grandchild to a woman who's a cancer survivor, I could relate to Sehun throughout the story, although Sehun was a little prick in some parts. And it's realistic as well, Sehun's afraid to be judge for his love towards Luhan. (Because being queer are not that popular in either S.Korea or many parts of the world, sadly.) You should give it a shot, it's amazing and sad, definitely something to read when it's raining outside or if you just feel angsty. ^^
