"Where have been?" I asked. 

"Working. Where else would I be?" He looked at me. 

"At 3 a.m?" I asked in disbelief. 

"I was! You can ask Suho, Kris or Tao! You're always thinking bad when I come home late." He rolled his eyes. 

"You've been coming home late for the past 2 weeks. You hardly talk to me and you forgot about today...." I said with a sigh. "It doesn't surprise me though. Lately I'm just a ghost in this house." 

He thought for a bit and raised his eyebrow. "What was today?" 

"Forget it." I got up from the couch and went into the bedroom.

He followed me and grabbed my arm. "Babe, talk to me." He pleaded. 

I grabbed a pillow and blanket. "You're sleeping on the couch tonight..." I said. 

"What? No I'm not." He said scowling. 

"Yeah you are." I said. 

He sighed. "Can you just please tell me what I missed?" He asked.

"Happy 7 month anniversary...." I took a deep breath and looked at him. "I made dinner, I waited you never came, I tried to go to sleep but I couldn't so I stayed up waiting for you." I said. I rubbed my left arm with my hand and looked away. 

He took a step toward me and I backed away. "I have to work in the morning so I should go to sleep." I said still avoiding his eyes. 

"I don't want you to go to bed mad at me" he said softly. 

"I'm not mad. Not anymore anyway...I just don't know what's going on with you lately & it scares me. I don't want to lose you..." I said. 

He lifted my chin up and looked at me. I could feel my eyes tearing up as he searched my face. 

"Babe, this love isn't going to be perfect, we're going to have rough days. We'll fuss and fight, But as long as everything is alright between us before we go to sleep we'll be okay. Tomorrow brings a new day, I don't want you to think such absurd things." He said. 

Before I could say anything my phone rang. 

"Yeboseyo?" I answered. 

"You need to come to the office at 4:30, Melanie is ill and we need you to fill in for her" 

"Both her and my shift?" I asked. 

"Yes. It's just for a couple of days." 

Days?! Well there's no way I'm saying no to my boss. 

"Yes sir. I'll be there." I said. 

"Thank you. I promise to double your pay. I'll see you soon." 

I hung up and sighed. 

"Who's calling you at this hour?" Kai asked in a suspicious way. 

"My boss,I have to go to work now. Melanie got sick so he asked if I could fill in for her." I said.

"I never heard of a 4:30 a.m shift at an office" he said. "Why you? Why couldn't he call someone else?" 

"Because I'm a good worker and he trusts me." I said. 

"You sure it's that?" He asked skeptically. 

I scoffed. "Are you accusing me of sleeping with my boss?" I asked raising my voice a little. 

"Never said that." He said. 

"But you're thinking it." I retorted. 

"As if you know what I'm thinking. You better call him this instant and tell him you're not going!" He raised his voice. 

"I already gave him my word!" I yelled. 

"I don't care! Tell him you're not going!" He yelled back. "You don't even need to work (your name)! Hello? I'm famous!" 

"Well tough luck, I'm going. You can come as late as you want for work but I can't go in early?" I scoffed. "By the way I happen to like my job! Just because you have lots of money and you're famous doesn't mean I'm going to take advantage of you! I'm going to work and that's that!" I said and went to shower.

I got ready and went to get a cup of coffee from the kitchen. He was already asleep on the couch. I sighed. I don't understand him, he gets mad because I'm leaving but then again it's like he doesn't truly care, he does it for show. Does he even love me anymore? I saw his phone light up. A text message? Maybe from the boys? I walked toward it and looked at it. I unlocked his phone and read:

Melanie: I'm out already. Where do you want to meet?

My eyes widened and I set the phone down in its place. This isn't happening, I know I didn't just see that. I set my coffee mug on the table and left for work. On my way down the stairs I thought about what I had seen. What do I do? Should I confront him or do I pretend as if it never happened? I started my car and drove to work.

A week later.

I arrived home and sat on the couch, I was so exhausted. 4:30 a.m - 11:00 p.m isn't a great schedule, I wanted to sleep but was too exhausted to even do that. It's been a week since Melanie has been gone, Kai is definitely seeing her. I've seen the signs already, canceling for everything and always making some lame excuse not to touch me or even shower with me. I was losing him to her and the sad thing was I didn't have the strength to even fight for him anymore. 

"You're home?" Kai asked. 

"You sound disappointed that I am." I said. 

"I'm not I just thought you'd be late since Melanie is sick or whatever" he said. 

"I'll just stay at work then..." I muttered. 

"I didn't mean it like that I was just saying that I thought you'd be late babe." He sat next to me. 

"What're you dressed up for?" I asked. 

"I just got home." He said. 

"Did you have a special event to go to or something?" I asked. 

"Just an award thing" he said plainly. 

"Did you guys win?" I smiled. 

"Of course." He smiled back. 

I leaned against him and was debating on whether to ask him or not. 

"Babe? You okay?" He asked as he kissed my head.

"No...I'm not" I said softly.

"What's the matter?" He asked. 

Should I tell him? I felt like I was about to cry just thinking about his answer. 

"Nevermind...." I swallowed the knot in my throat and closed my eyes. 

"Lets go to bed" he carried me. 

I held onto him. I didn't want to let him go, I loved him. Even if he was seeing her...I love him. 

He lay me on the bed and kissed me. "You sure you're okay?" He asked once more. 

His phone rang. It was right beside me so I picked it up. He snatched the phone away from my hand. 

"Don't touch my phone!" He yelled. 

I was stunned by his answer. 

He looked at it then ignored the call. 

I sighed and got up again. 

"Babe I'm sorry but-" 

"Don't even. I know it was her....to be frank I don't even care. This relationship hasn't had meaning for the past month. It doesn't matter if I try or if you try, this isn't working...You don't even like me touching your phone now." I grabbed my gym bag and began putting clothes and other things in it. 

"What're you doing?" He asked. 

"Leaving. What's it look like I'm doing? I'm tired. I'm being cheated on clearly and I honestly just can't do this anymore. I've been filling in for that this whole entire week and come to find out when I'm gone she's here with you. Don't lie either. The constant me coming home and you showering. The questions of what time I'll be home or how long I'm going to take or when I try to kiss you or touch you or even just want to shower with you, you just push me away." I said. 

"(Your name)...it's not-" 

I cut him off before he could say anything. 

"It's whatever. She gives you what I obviously can't so hope you're content and good luck to the both of you. I'll come back for my things when you're not home so I guess just text me." I said. I walked to the front door and opened it. I was really surprised. 

"Melanie...." I said wide eyed.

"(Your name)." She said in shock. "Wh-What are you....I didn't know that y-..." 

"Well now you do but hey now you can come over as many times as you want." I said. 

I felt the knot in my throat again. 

"Baby wait. Don't leave me...(Your name) I love you. Don't do this to me" Kai grabbed my arm. 

I pulled away. "Don't do what? Break your heart by leaving? Hmph. As if I could do that, Melanie's here now. You won't be alone...I will." I felt the tears come down the side of my cheeks. "Excuse me...." 

I didn't know where to go. I have nobody else around here, I could stay at a hotel for a couple of days maybe then figure something out. 

My phone rang and rang and rang. I could see on the screen "Kai". I have to do this, I can't just let him walk over me like that. I got to the hotel and bumped into Lay. 

"(Your name)? What're you doing here?" He asked a bit surprised.

"Long story short, Kai and I just broke up and I'm pretty much just looking for a place to stay. What're you doing here?" I asked. 

"Broke up?! But you guys just moved in together like 2 months ago. Nothing, I was just passing by, I was at the studio and decided to walk. Well, you're welcomed to bunk with Chen and I. We have an extra room, why spend money when you can stay with us?" He smiled. 

"Thank you it's very sweet of you to offer" I said.

"But?" He asked. 

"What if Kai looks for me?" I said.

"That's easy. Kai doesn't know we have an extra room. It looks like a closet door but when you open it it's really an extra room." He said. 

"M'kay. Well I promise it'll only be a couple of days, a week max." I said. 

"Stay as long as you need too. Don't worry about it." He said. 

"Thank you" I said.

He smiled. "Come on, lets get you settled in. I'll make you something to eat if you want"

"No thanks. I'm not very hungry." I smiled.

We walked to my car and we drove to his place. The car ride was a bit weird, I've never been very close to Lay. I mean we're friends but I've never hung out with him or anything. Just a 'hey,what's up' kind of thing. 

"So what happened?" He asked. 

I explained what went on. "I don't know. Lately it wasn't a relationship. He comes late I leave early, I come home early and he's too tired. Well, too tired for me anyway not for Melanie. I guess it's because she's prettier than me. She's skinnier than I am and her hairs longer than mine, she's charming and funny....Now that I think about it I can see why he fell for her and forgot me." I said. 

"(Your name), You're not pretty you're absolutely gorgeous, your physique is perfect,you're very smart,kind,funny and your hair is beautiful. There's no way that girl is better than you, he's just....I don't know but trust me he regrets it. I know Kai" he assured. 

"If you know Kai and truly believe that I'm all the things you say I am then why'd he cheat on me?" I asked. 

"................." 

Silence. 

I turned the radio on to break it, he couldn't answer my question which meant my theory was true. He didn't want me anymore after seeing her but how'd they even meet? I took a deep breath as all these questions popped into my head. 

*Phone rings* 

I looked at Lay. "It's probably Kai." 

"Aren't you going to answer it?" He asked. 

I shook my head. "Nah. But can you check to see if it's him?" 

"Sure" he picked up my phone and looked. "Melanie" he said. 

I stopped the car and grabbed the phone.

"What the hell do you want?" 

Lay looked at me wide as he saw me go from calm to angry in a matter of seconds.

"It's Kai. You weren't answering my calls. Where are you?" He asked. 

"Oh so you call from your lovers phone? That makes things SO much better Kai. What do you want?!" I asked again. 

"I want you to come home babe. It's not what you think okay? Please?" He pleaded. 

"Stop calling me." I hung up and took a deep breath. "Lay can you drive? I just...I can't." I looked at him.

He nodded and got out of the passengers seat. 

He drove to his place without another word. Once we got there he showed me to my room and left me alone. I sat there on the bed side staring at the floor. I had about 4 hours until I went to work again. No sleep and a broken heart.

*Phone rings*

"Yeboseyo?" I answered without seeing who it was.

"(Your name) did I wake you?" 

"Oh! No sir. I had a few issues when I got home so I'm staying with a friend. I'm wide awake." I said. 

"Is everything alright?" He asked. 

"Yeah. I'm gonna be okay, I broke up with my boyfriend." I said. "But no worries I'll still be at work at 4:30"

"Melanie is coming so no need to be here early anymore. I'm sorry if I caused that to happen, most guys get upset when I call at 4 a.m for work and they think wrong. So I apologize if I caused that." 

"No, not at all sir. It's okay. Really" I assured. 

"Well I was calling because I'm promoting you to Office manager of the 12th floor. You'll have your own office and the hours are 8:00 a.m-9:00 p.m, salary starts at 16 an hour. What do you say?" He asked. 

"Thank you sir!" I said happily. "You won't regret this!" 

"I trust you, which is why I picked you. You're a wonderful worker." He said. "I'll see you Friday morning to show you the ropes. Take these next 3 days off and get back on your feet. Have a good night Ms. (Your name)" 

"Yes sir. Thank you. Have a good night" 

I hung up and was so excited! I walked out of the room. I couldn't wait to tell Kai! 

"Kai...." Wait...he's not here anymore. I completely forgot for that split second.

I sighed. Man I need a drink or something to just make me forget. 

"(Your name)? What're you doing here? Did you and Kai get into a fight?" Chen came out of his room. 

"More than broke up." I said. "I can't sleep, I've got a lot on my mind" 

He sat next to me. "We have wine" he smiled. 

"That would be so great." I smiled back. 

He went into the kitchen and came back with a glass. 

"What about you?" I asked. 

"You need it more than I do" he smiled. "So what happened?" 

I told him and he gave me the same answer Lay did. 

I raised my eyebrow. "But why did he cheat then?" I asked. 

"Maybe because you came home so exhausted? I don't know, a guy has needs you know." He said. 

"So you're saying its my fault?" I took a sip of wine. 

"No, It's mutual. You're BOTH at fault. Never making time for each other, think about it. We do gigs all the time, whether it's live TV or concerts and most of the time we're at the studio. You're always working therefore you never accompany Kai even if he wants you too. He felt like you didn't care so he found someone who comforted him even if he loved you he felt more comfortable with that person. BUT he should've told you how he felt and you should've talked it out instead of arguing. That's just me though, I don't know how you see it." He said.

"Wow Chen, you're right." I said. "But I have no idea how to confront him" 

"Just go back home and if he's with that girl then you'll know to just not try because he's given up. But if he's alone then talk to him." He said. 

"I was going to go apartment hunting tomorrow and I have to get the rest of my clothes anyway. I don't wanna go alone though....come with me?" I asked. 

"I can't. We have dance practice tomorrow, if I didn't I would." He said. 

"Aw man. Wait both or just M?" I asked. 

"Nah, just M. Why don't you call D.O or one of the guys from K? I'm sure they'll go with you" he suggested. 

"But..." I pouted. "Okay." 

He patted my head. "You'll be alright. By the way congrats on your promotion" he smiled.

O.o "how'd you know?!" I said. 

"The walls are pretty thin and your phone is kind of loud. I could hear everything." He smiled.

"Eaves dropping on me." I pushed him playfully. 

"Only a little" he giggled.

I downed the rest of the wine. "Ah. Thanks for the wine." I smiled. 

I hiccuped and giggled. "Sorry" 

"I'm going to bed now. You should too, your cheeks are getting red now." He looked at me. 

"Noooo. Chen Oppa stay a little longer." I smiled and hiccuped again. 

He giggled. "(Your name) you should've drank the wine slowly. Just look at you" 

"Oppa." I looked at him and smiled as wide as I could. 

He laughed. "Yes?" He asked.

"Oppa" I smiled widely again and giggled.

"What is it?" He smiled. 

"Oppa!" I screamed and laughed. 

"Shhh! You'll wake Lay" he giggled and covered my mouth. 

"Oppa!" I muffled into his hand.

"Shhh shhh." He chuckled. "Lets get you to bed okay?" He took his hand away. 

"Can I sleep with you Oppa? I'm going to be so lonely." I whispered.

"Umm...I don't know." He said.

"Please Oppa? I promise to go to sleep right away. I promise. Oppa I promise." I burped. 

"Oh goodness." He shook his head and smiled. "Come on. Lets go brush our teeth." 

"Can I have a little more wine Oppa?" I asked.

"No. Are you crazy? You're such a bad drinker, you've only had one glass and look at you. No wonder Kai never lets you drink" he giggled. "Hurry up. Come on" 

"Awww but Oppa!!!" I raised my voice. 

"Shhh! (Your name)! We're going to get in trouble." He said. 

"Oh...sorry" I whispered. "I forgot umma is sleeping" 

He laughed quietly. "Lets go" 

He helped me up and walked to the restroom. I grabbed my tooth brush and looked at Kris. 

"Did you forget to brush your teeth?" He giggled. 

"Oppa. Is umma going to get mad at me if he finds out that you let me drink wine?" I asked. 

"At me not you" he said. 

"Ah okay. I'm gonna change into my pjs okay?" I smiled. 

"Okay. Then come brush your teeth and we're going to sleep" he said. 

"Mhmm" I nodded. I walked out of the restroom and closed the door then wobbled back into the kitchen as fast as I could and saw the wine bottle. I began gulp it down. 

"(Your name)! What're you doing!" Chen whispered.

I smiled and chuckled nervously. "Sorry Oppa. I couldn't help it." I hiccuped.

He took the wine bottle away and grabbed my hand. "You're brushing your teeth and going to bed." 

"But I'm not sleepy Oppa." I whined. 

"Then you're sleeping alone" he said.

"So mean" I stuck my tongue out at him. "I'm telling umma. I'm telling umma." I sung. 

"Shhh." He said. "As much as I want to be upset with you I can't. It's too funny" he smiled.

"I still need to change Chen Oppa." I complained. 

"Aish. (Your name) just brush your teeth first okay?" 

I nodded. 

He sat me down on the toilet. "Open. I'm going to brush your teeth"

"Ahhhh." I opened. 

He brushed my teeth and then sent me to my room to change. I saw my phone lighting up. 

"Yeboseyo?" I hiccuped. 

"(Your name)?" 

"Yeboseyo?" I giggled. 

"(Your name)." 

"But I'm (your name) silly. Who are you?" I burped. "Excuse me" 

"Have you been drinking?" 

"Yeboseyo?" I sang. "Yeboseyo....Yeboseyo....Yeboseyo.....Yebooooooseyoooooo~" 

"(Your name)! I'm not playing!" 

"I'm not either. I just asked who is you?" I said. 

"Who is you?" 

"I'm (your name) & you?" I laughed. 

"(Your name). Who are you talking too?" Chen asked. 

"Chen Oppa!" I said happily. 

He grabbed the phone. "Yeboseyo" 

"What the hell are you doing with her?!" 

"Kai I didn't even know she was here." He said. 

"Has she been drinking?" Kai asked.

"I gave her a glass of wine but when I went to brush my teeth she said she was going to change and when I went to check on her she wasn't in her room so I came into the kitchen and she was downing the whole bottle" Chen explained. 

"I'm coming to get her." Kai said.

"Good luck with that she's pretty messed up, she's dancing 'wolf'." Chen giggled.

"This I gotta see. I'll be there soon" he hung up. 

"Awwwwoooooo. Ah Saranghaeyo!" I laughed. "Oppa who was on the phone?" 

"(Your name) you need to just calm down okay?" Chen grabbed me and sat me on the bed. "Kai's coming." 

"Why?" I asked. 

"He just wants to make sure you're okay." 

"I don't want him here....please?" I looked at him with puppy dog eyes.

"If you go to sleep then he'll go away." He said. 

"Help me change Oppa." I grinned. 

"No no no." He said. "If Kai saw he'd get super mad." 

"Just me Chen. I can't reach the back of my dress." I burped. "Sorry...." 

"After that I'm going to my room so you can change okay?" He said. "Stand in front of me" 

I nodded and walked all wobbly towards him. I stood in front of him and I moved my hair out of the way. 

He gulped and began ping the dress. He stopped once he had ped it all the way. I could feel his eyes on me. 

"Aren't you going to your room?" I asked.

"When did you get that tattoo?" He asked. 

"Like a month ago. I wanted to get something behind my neck and I figured I'd get Kai's symbol but he never noticed it. Even with my hair up. But yet again I mean he hasn't touched me in a while." I said. 

"I like it though. It suits you" Chen smiled.

"What're you doing?" Kai came into the room. 

"S-She asked if I could her dress. I was just leaving" Chen said. 

He got up and left. I burped loudly. 

Kai walked towards me. "Are you okay?" He asked. 

"Not anymore. You're the last person I wanted to see." I said. 

"You sobering up?" He smiled. 

"Yeah I am. Wine only works for so long." I turned around and looked through my clothes. 

"Lets go home." He said. 

"Home? I don't live with you anymore, I'm going apartment hunting tomorrow." I said. 

"But you never let me explain." He said. 

"Explain what?" I looked at him. "How you cheated on me? There's no explanation for what you did. It was your choice to do it." I said. 

I remembered what Chen had said when we were talking on the couch. Maybe I should go home with him and talk it out. I took a deep breath. 

"Zip up my dress. I'll repack my things and we can talk." I said. 

His eyes lit up. "Really?" 

"Hurry up before I change my mind." I moved my hair out of the way again and turned around.

"When did you get that?" He asked. 

"A month ago." I answered.

"I never noticed..." He said. 

"Yeah, I know." I said sarcastically. 

"I'm sorry" he kissed my shoulder. 

"Don't start the lovey dovey stuff now. Just because I'm going home with you doesn't mean I won't leave after we finish talking." I said. 

"Right. Sorry" he zipped up my dress and we went back home.

-Next Morning-

I must've passed out, that was a crazy dream. My head was pounding, ugh. Hangover. I turned around and felt someone beside me. I opened my eyes. 

"Morning" Kai smiled. 

I opened my eyes immediately and gasped. 

"What?" He asked. 

"I just...sorry. I really thought I was still over with Chen and Lay." I said. "Oh my head..." 

"You don't remember?" He asked. 

"No, I don't. I recall Chen ping my dress and talking with him but as for you. I honestly thought I was dreaming, like that you were something my mind just made up since I was a bit tipsy." I said. 

"A bit? You're kidding. Babe you were dancing to 'wolf', you came home with me and then drank some more. You downed a whole bottle of red wine and then you were crying and then you were all lovey and then you wanted to dance then you sang and we went to bed." He said. 

"You're kidding. I'd never dance to wolf. Stop lying and don't call me babe, we're still broken up." I rubbed my head. 

"No we're not." He smiled. 

"Kai don't start, it doesn't count if I'm drunk okay?" I turned around and closed my eyes. 

"I like it when you're like that. You're so lively and funny." He hugged me from behind.

"I really wish I could just hate you but I can't even though-" 

"I didn't cheat okay? I didn't sleep with her, I met her backstage at concert but I didn't know she was your co-worker. She came into my dressing room and said she was a huge fan and she gave me her number then I had to leave to preform & as for her getting my number well she obviously got it since my stuff is in my dressing room. The night you left she actually came looking for you then she saw me here so she kind of freaked and couldn't believe it. Baby I can show you ALL the text messages and ALL the voicemails. I didn't tell you because I didn't think it was a big deal, I was just gonna change my number but then I guess things got complicated." He said. 

"What about the night you yelled at me for grabbing your phone?" I faced him. 

"I was afraid she'd say something stupid to you since she's a fan. I would never cheat on you, you're the greatest thing that's ever happened to me. I was just exhausted and stressed from all the things we were doing that I lost track of what's really important, YOU. Then you were ALWAYS working and coming home late. We seemed to just lose connection and chemistry. (Your name) I love you, nobody is ever going to change that. You're my one and only" he smiled. 

"Let me see your phone." I said. 

"It's next to you." 

I grabbed his phone and looked at his expression. 

"Aren't you going to look?" He asked. "I have nothing to hide now that I told you" 

I looked through his phone and he was right. This whole time I thought they were seeing each other when in reality she was pretty much stalking him and saying stuff like this because its already been released that he has a girlfriend. 

"I'm sorry I doubted you." I looked at him. "I guess being at work and only worrying about that just made me crazy...It's my fault that you were acting like you were with me and it's my fault we fight most of the time. I love you Kai. I really do, you know when I was with Chen and Lay I got a phone call from my boss saying he was promoting me for office manager 8:00 a.m-9:00 p.m. but Chen made me realize yesterday that you're not worth losing over my job. So I'm asking you this, Should I accept or would you like me to stay here at home? You're worth more to me than all the riches in the world and I'll do whatever it takes for us to be like before." I said.

He smiled and kissed my hands. "Do you want that job?" He asked. 

"Yes and no. I'll probably get fired anyway." I said.

"Why?" 

"Melanie's gotta pay." I smiled. 

He chuckled.

"I'll be happy with or without the job babe. I kept the job because I didn't want to make you feel like I was taking advantage of you or just using you for money. I wanted to show you that I loved you for you" I said. 

"I knew that you loved me for me baby. That's what I love most about you, you're not afraid to be yourself despite the fact you're dating me." He kissed me. "(Your name) will you be mine again?" 

"Yes." I kissed him back.

"What happened to 'yes Oppa'? Hmm?" He giggled.

"Oppa? I've never used that word." I said. 

"You were last night" he winked. 

I felt my face hot. 

"I'm kidding. But you did use that word" he smiled.

"Well don't get used to it" I cuddled with him.

"Take the job if you wish. I wouldn't want you to be alone since I'll be at the studio more often." He said as he put his arms around me.

"Promise you'll try to be home earlier?" I asked.

"I promise. Maybe I'll stop by your office to see you" he smiled. "I'll make all the women that work there envy you." 

I chuckled. "They'd hate me, hell they wouldn't even believe you're with me anyway." 

"I'll most definitely make sure they know you're all mine." He kissed my head. 

"They'll take pictures and all your fans will know, I'll start getting death threats and notes on my desk saying how much they hate me and that I shouldn't be with you" I said.

"It doesn't matter what they say, I love you. I love my fans too but I'm not going to leave you because they hate you. I think my happiness matters to them and in time they'll grow to accept that you make me happy and that's all that matters." 

"Oppa?" 

"Ne?" 

"Saranghae" I kissed him. 

"I love you too" he kissed me back with such passion. 

As if it were the first time he was kissing me. Lesson learned. Never assume unless you have hardcore evidence that you're in the right. Always listen before taking action because true love can also become a lost love. I lost the love but regained it again and I wouldn't have it any other way.
