I decided to go to the park today. Halfway there, I regretted my decision. I had noticed the trail of dead snails, but hadn't thought much of it. However, as I looked up I noticed the back view of a teenager, perhaps my age, crushing all the snails in his path. Saddened, I rush forward, my feet making hollow sounds against pavement. When I reach him, he turns over - as if flinching against my touch- and I recognized the boy as the school transfer, Kai. With a nonchalant stare, he smirks and leans forward so close I feel as if I can see into his soul. But, I can't.
