Truth

The butterflies

Taemin’s perspective:

He could hear the doorbell ring inside. An impatient sound.

After 10 seconds the door opened.

Wow.

You smiled at him

“I’ll just get my jacket.”

“Great.” He said happy.

He saw through the open door and his eyes met the brown-haired girl – Sunny? – look curious at him. He smiled at her and looked the other way.

That was awkward..

You showed up again – wearing a yellow raincoat.

“You won’t get lost from me as long as you’re wearing that.” He said, joking.

Like she could get lost from me anyways.

“Shall we go?”

It rained outside – it was crazy. Rivers made of rain was streaming down the road.

Good thing I’m wearing rubber boots

“Where do you want to do?” he asked.

“Is there any park in this area?”

“There is one I like 1 km away.”

“Let’s go there, then!”

Silence.

Not awkward, just silence.

“What are you thinking of?” He asked.

You didn’t look at him, just kept looking out in the rain.

“I thought of the day in the café.”

“Huh?”

“I thought of why you had to go . You asked me my name and your reaction was a little strange.”

What shall I say?

The truth? She’ll get hurt.

“Your name… it wakes up bad memories”

Now you were looking at him. Wondering

“It has nothing to do with you at all.”

“Do you want me to tell you about it?” he smiled softly.

“A year ago I had a girlfriend named ------, like you. I loved her so much, and she loved me as well.” He sighed.

“It was our first valentine together, so we were planning to go out at a restaurant. I was driving. She had always kidded me with the whole ‘you’re such a bad driver’- thing. I drove way too fast, but I never thought about it. She punched me for fun and I tickled her back. I didn’t see it coming. The car. Suddenly it was there. I tried to avoid it…. But it was too late. She screamed.” He sighed again.

“They told me, there was nothing to do. She died the moment we hit the other car. I was the only one who survived.

You looked at him with your eyes full of tears.

“Please don’t say you’re sorry. I know you are.”

“I’ll say nothing then.”

He laughed shortly and from then there was silence again.

“I’m glad you told me.”

“I’m glad you listened. It meant…. Something.”

You two spend most of the day in the park, walking and talking.

“I think it’s about time to go home, don’t you think?” You asked.

“Okay” he said as he tried not to sound disappointed.

You looked at him and nodded your head to the side wondering what he was thinking about.

“I was thinking… maybe.. you wanted to go out with me. On a date or something. That was supposed to sound a little romantic, but I’m really not romantic.”

You laughed. Butterflies.

“Yeah that would be great”

“Okay then, what about tomorrow?”

“It doesn’t work. What about… tonight?”

“Tonight is fine. What do you want to do?”

“What about a café? The café here are so cozy. You said and smiled.

“I know a really nice place. I’ll text the address, then we can meet at 7 PM?”

“7 PM is good”

“Then 7 it is”

There is really nobody out here. Just because of the rain.

I could kiss her.

He looked down at you. Imagined, how it would be like. Kissing you. You lips looked soft and warm. Your cheeks were turning red when you realized that he was looking at you.

“My phone” You suddenly said, interrupting his thoughts.

You found your phone from your pocket

“Hello this is ------?”

He heard a voice from the telephone.

“Yeah I’m downstairs. See you in a minute.”

He realized that they were in front of her apartment.

This is not the time, then.

“I guess I’ll see you tonight then?” you asked and looked hopeful at him.

“Yeah, see you” He said the smiled.
