Youngjae’s eyes peeked open, heavy with sleep as he slowly took in his surroundings. He was greeted by his own cozy bedroom, the room succumbed into a hushed silence. Everything stood absolutely still with the exception of the rustling heater at the other end of the room. The man was about to go back to sleep again until he stretched his arms out and noticed the space usually occupied by a certain person next to him was void of any comforting warmth. A pout graced his lips as he slowly sat up, carmine comforter wrapped snug around his body, fist rubbing at his eyes as he stared at the empty space. He glanced around the dark room, confused, looking for any signs of his missing lover until his ears caught onto the sounds of footsteps and rustling outside the door.

Youngjae let out a breath of relief, slightly amused but irritated due to the fact that his boyfriend was outside doing god knows what rather than in here, asleep with him. Daehyun knew damn well that they somewhere to go the following morning. Youngjae definitely didn’t want to drive so early in the morning so of course that meant Daehyun would be forced to. With a roll of his eyes and a shake of his head, the man slipped lazily out of bed, comforter a long cape trailing behind him as he dragged his feet towards the door.

“Daehyun,” Youngjae calls out as he pushes the door open, eyes fighting against the bright light of the living room. “What are you doing up so late—” The man was quickly silenced with what he saw presented before him, system now fully awake as he digested the sight staring back at him in surprise. Youngjae fought back the urge to laugh, his hand which fisted a clump of his comforter reaching up to cover his mouth, eyes curling into pretty little crescents. “What on earth are you doing?” he queried with a slight giggle, voice dripped with amusement and muffled behind the blanket.

The other man looked like a deer caught in a headlight, eyes inhumanly wide having been caught in action by the younger. “Serprieze?” he voiced, mouth filled with what Youngjae assumed were the sugar cookies they had baked earlier that day, glittery crumbs falling from the man’s mouth and onto their white carpeted floor.

“Aw, Daehyun,” Youngjae chided, eyes knotted into a frown at the litter.

Daehyun quickly wiped his mouth of any more crumbs with a quick swipe of his hand, downing the rest of the cookies in one large swallow. “Surprise,” he said again, voice much clearer as he smiled a sheepish smile. Youngjae took this moment to eye the man before him up and down, lips spread out in an uncontrollable grin at his lover’s attire.

It appears as though Santa’s over for a visit.

Daehyun was dressed quite festively in a red and white suit in the image of the spirit’s own, Christmas hat rested sloppily atop his head. From the bright red to the snowy white fur, the gold-buckled belt, the black boots, and even the signature, fluffy white beard covering half the man’s face, big lips still visible from between the mane of hair. Youngjae couldn’t help but laugh out loud at the ridiculous (and kind of adorable) sight, comforter dropping from his shoulders and to the ground with his quakes.

“What are you doing?” Youngjae asked again, wiping a tear from his eye as he approached the older man.

Daehyun his lips a little before standing tall, hands planted firmly against his hips as he let out a bounteous laugh. “Ho, ho, ho!” he hollered in a deep, cartoonish voice, and Youngjae let out another round of laughs. “Merry Christmas, Yoo Youngjae!”

“Daehyun…” Youngjae breathed, cheeks pink from laughter as his lover grabbed his hand and led him to the strangely pillow-less couch. “Why are you doing this?”

“Because it’s Christmas, love,” Daehyun answered with a wink, and Youngjae would have kissed him on the cheek if it weren’t for the ridiculous fake beard. “I wasn’t quite ready yet, but I guess this’ll do as well.”

Youngjae shook his head in amusement, watching as Daehyun travelled behind their Christmas tree and away from Youngjae’s curious eyes. The latter glanced down at their glass coffee table, letting out a slightly irritated sigh upon seeing only one stoking-shaped sugar cookie left out of the three batches they had made earlier that morning. Just leave it to Daehyun’s vacuum of a stomach. “I didn’t even get to have one,” he complained out loud, taking the scarlet-sprinkled cookie left alone on the plate.

“Sorry!” he heard his lover’s half-assed apology, hints of laughter at the end of the word. Youngjae rolled his eyes so hard he saw the North Pole.

Moments later, as Youngjae idly nibbled at the salvaged cookie, Daehyun reappeared from behind the Christmas tree, dragging a surprisingly large green sack behind his back with a bright, vermillion rose placed right in between the man’s teeth. Youngjae nearly dropped the cookie on sight, bottom lip quivering as he held in another laugh. Daehyun truly was something else, and Youngjae couldn’t help but feel a bit foolish for falling in love with such a big dork.

Daehyun dragged the large sack over to Youngjae’s legs, setting it down and plopping himself down onto the space next to his lover. He draped an arm lazily over the younger’s shoulders, legs crossed over one another as his lips formed a cocky grin around the stem of the rose. He wiggled his eyebrows, taking the flower from his teeth and handing it to the other male with a seductive smirk.

Youngjae rolled his eyes at the greasy behavior but took the offered rose anyways, smiling a little to himself as he held the crimson rosebud close to his lips, breathing in the alluring aroma and admiring the way the petals delicately curled around one another in a protective, ruby crown. It was a brilliant shade of red, mixing excellently with the white of their smooth, cream couch. Youngjae gazed up at his boyfriend who stared affectionately back. “God,” Youngjae just couldn’t help himself, “I love you.”

“That isn’t the last of it,” Daehyun replied back simply, scooting a bit and pulling the younger closer. His eyebrows wiggled again as he pulled something out from within his suit’s pocket, holding it up above their heads with a suggestive look in his eyes.

Youngjae glanced up, eyes meeting with the cheesy sight of bright red berries staring back at him from its place between three sharp, evergreen leaves. He raised an eyebrow.

“Oh, I wonder where that came from,” Youngjae drawled, snickering when the other male puckered his lips in an exaggerated matter.

“It’s mistletoe, love. Looks like we have to kiss.” Daehyun brought his free hand up to cup the younger’s cheek, only to have the latter shake his head with laughter.

“That’s holly, Daehyun,” Youngjae corrected, gesturing towards the plant above their heads as he twirled the rose between his fingers.

Daehyun snorted, tossing the holly away somewhere with a shrugged-off grunt of whatever. “Does it matter? I’m kissing you anyways.” Youngjae rolled his eyes as Daehyun pulled him in, sealing their lips together into a mindless kiss.

Youngjae sighed, tilting his head to deepen the kiss when he felt the tips of Daehyun’s curly fake beard tickling at the tip of his nose. Youngjae l

Chapter 6: Seriously? I loved it.
It's very cute and adorable and oddly magical and full of mysteries and even a bit creepy (jesus daehyun wth!!) but in a lovely way!
I liked that plotless story it will definitely be kept in my fave list. I love fluff. Even if it's "plotless" as you said. It was so warm. I can sleep peacefully now ♡
Good job!!!

Chapter 5: God damn. This chapter was so interesting. Somehow odd, absurd and almost mystical. All three in a good way. It reminds me of those contemplative Japanese movies. I loved it.
It is weird that youngjae keeps forgetting daehyun but... isn't daehyun even weirder? Creepy even? Haha

Chapter 4: What the he'll those notes hahaha
Bur I loved youngjae's reactions!!
Oh I'm also quite wondering how and why they didn't sympathised since they met once at the bakery. Like that would be something quite normal to do.. (is there an answer though lmao)

Chapter 3: How I want to try that roll too though...
I dont think the descriptions are bad at all :)
It's interesting that in the first chapters youngjae looked like he'd be the shy one and now everything seems reversed. This story is so nice!
