“You don’t have a reflection,” Taekwoon observed as he watched Hakyeon pass by a mirror.

“Well I am half vampire,” Hakyeon laughed.

“He has to get the rest of us to help him with his hair,” Sanghyuk told Taekwoon, pointedly ignoring Jaehwan who was pressed tightly against his side. He didn’t push him away and Taekwoon wondered if Jaehwan was right about Sanghyuk liking him too.

“To be fair,” Wonsik spoke up, “he used to ask us for help. Sanghyuk gave him a mummy for a birthday gift a couple years ago.”

“Speaking of which,” Hakyeon frowned slightly, “one of her arms fell off this morning. Her bandages don’t look too clean either.”

“Oh,” Sanghyuk frowned slightly, so slightly that if Taekwoon hadn’t been carefully observing the Anubis he would have missed it, “where is she now?”

“Resting in the bedroom,” Hakyeon replied and Sanghyuk left the living room to go tend to the mummy.

“Did you have to say that now?” Jaehwan sighed.

“Don’t be such a brat, Jaehwan,” Hakyeon scolded, “You know Sanghyuk takes care of his mummies like they’re his children.”

“I know,” Jaehwan replied, “but lately when someone mentions it, he gets all quiet and moody. He was smiling just now, more than he had in weeks.”

“Oh,” Hakyeon blinked, looking off in the direction of his bedroom, “sorry.”

“What’s wrong?” Hongbin asked, “he said that his magic felt....weaker. Hakyeon hyung, you’ve lived the longest of all of us and seen the most of the world. Do you know anything about this?”

“I have no idea,” Hakyeon sighed, “Sanghyuk is the first Anubis I’ve ever met. Heck, he’s only of only ten still alive.”

“Only ten?” Wonsik sat up slightly, “that’s so.....low.”

“I know,” Hakyeon nodded, “most died out with the last human pharaohs. Others......just never woke up from slumbers that their masters put them in.”

“Sanghyuk only woke up because his master left, right?” Jaehwan asked, “She took all his mummies and left him and Sungjae?”

“Yeah,” Hakyeon nodded, “maybe.....maybe that’s why his magic is getting weaker. I’ve never heard of an Anubis or a sphinx without a master until Sanghyuk came here and Sungjae started to visit.”

“Should we maybe find her?” Hongbin asked.

“No,” everyone turned to find Sanghyuk glaring at them all, his mummy standing closely behind him, peeking over his shoulder to observe everyone with curious eyes.

“We’re just worried,” Hakyeon quickly assured the older, “I’m not going to go looking for that woman, nor will I let the others.”

“Good,” Sanghyuk nodded, eyes softening slightly when he looked at Hakyeon. Taekwoon looked around, noticing how everyone else was looking away shamefully. He found himself wondering just what kind of person Sanghyuk’s master was.

“How is she?” Hakyeon asked, turning his attention to the mummy who slowly made its way to sit beside him.

“She’ll need some rest,” Sanghyuk said, moving closer to the mummy so that he could brush its long, messy, black hair back, “but she shouldn’t fall apart anytime soon.”

“Good,” Hakyeon smiled, “I get why you care about them so much. They’re like children.”

“Kind of,” Sanghyuk nodded, “but the thought of you having a kid? That’s scary.”

“What?” Hakyeon reached up to playfully hit the older, “how dare you. I’m a great father.”

“You know he just fixed her because she was falling apart right?” Jaehwan spoke up, grinning when his words drew a laugh out of Sanghyuk.

Hakyeon laughed along, but kept a close eye on Sanghyuk. The dhampire had lied to the others when he said he didn’t know what was wrong with Sanghyuk. He knew exactly what was wrong, but Sanghyuk had made him promise not to say anything to the others. Hakyeon was the only one who could understand having gone through the same things ages ago, thus he was the only one Sanghyuk had told of his problem.

Hakyeon glanced over at Sanghyuk, wondering how bad things would get before he was forced to tell the others of his problem.
