Sanghyuk let out a low groan of frustration. He just didn’t understand why everything was dropping on him now. He was already having a hard enough time with losing his magic, now he had to deal with the weird text Sungjae had sent him. Oh, and you couldn’t forget about his confusion over his feelings for Taekwoon and Jaehwan. That one was proving to be a very confusing problem.

“Hey,” Hongbin said, dropping down onto the couch beside him, “cheer up.”

“I hate this,” Sanghyuk hissed, ears flattening, “what the heck does ‘watch your back’ mean? And he hasn’t responded yet to explain.”

“Maybe he’s busy,” Wonsik suggested.

“For a week?” Sanghyuk said before he winced, pain running through his body.

“Hyuk!” the yuki-onna and ignis rushed to support their friend’s weight.

“Just take deep breaths,” Hongbin said, “relax.”

“I’ll get Hakyeon,” Wonsik said, rushing off to get the only person who could possibly help.

“Just stress,” Sanghyuk muttered, sitting up, “and Hakyeon is with Taekwoon. They went to pick Jaehwan up from the airport.”

“Think you’ll be able to put the wards back up?” Hongbin asked even though he had a pretty good idea about what the answer was.

“No,” Sanghyuk sighed, “I……I don’t think I have the power to do much. I even have to keep some of my mummies with you and Hakyeon because I can’t spare the magic to keep them in the storage room.”

“I wish I could help,” Hongbin sighed, “if it would help, I’d become your mate.”

“Thanks for the offer,” Sanghyuk managed a small smile.

“How long do you have left?”

“A week,” Sanghyuk said after a pause to think it over, “maybe eight days if I’m lucky.”

“Everything will work out,” Hongbin said, failing to sound reassuring, “I know it will.”

Sanghyuk nodded, taking a few more deep breaths in hopes of calming his stress levels. And then the door burst open to reveal Jaehwan and Taekwoon, both looking equally panicked. Sanghyuk felt his stress levels starting to rise and more pain ran through his body.
