Passengers walked out of the arrival. Everyone is excited to be back in the arms of their love ones. Ahra on the other hand was annoyed with her arms crossed on her chest. Even so, she still stood with poise. One by one people left and she wondered if she waited on the wrong gate. However a familiar figure dressed in a blue blazer and cream shorts smiled brightly under his Rayban. He approached her excitedly but only to get a hard hit on the head.

“We don’t see each other for almost three years and this is how you treat me?” Kyuhyun rubbed his head feeling a bit shaken.

“You made me stand here for ten minutes yet you’re still asking me that?!”

“You only stretched your legs. You didn’t go war!”

“I’m always at war when I’m in these heels.”        

“Why do you wear them in the first place? You look cuter when you’re this small.” Kyuhyun measured her real height on his shoulder making her angry.

“You little!—“she got cut off when Kyuhyun took the chance to hug her.

Ahra is used to her brother’s affectionate ways but it’s been years since she got a taste of his sweet gestures. She almost thought that it would never come back again. But then the hug did not feel like it did before. There was less energy, less love. Nonetheless, it warmed Ahra’s heart.

“Come on, let’s get going you little punk.”

“So... where are they? Did they like even know that I came back?” Ahra glanced at Kyuhyun on the passenger sit. He was fiddling with his fingers and he was obviously upset.

“Of course! But you know them, they’re always busy and a bit old and lazy.” She laughs but her brother didn’t.

“Well they used to attend the school programs I’m involved in no matter how busy they were.” He almost whispers and Ahra couldn’t help but feel guilty towards him. Kyuhyun maybe a man with his looks and intelligence but he was always a kid, seeking for the things he lost and the things taken away from him. And as a sister, Ahra tried her best to fulfil those. But she just can’t

“Take me to Leeteuk hyung!”

“What? Shouldn’t you go home first and greet Mom and Dad?” 

“Well they don’t seem very excited about my arrival. So maybe I should go to someone who is.” Kyuhyun made it sound like a joke but his eyes tells otherwise.

“Kyuhyun, it’s not like that.”

“Come on, please!!! At least make me happy before hell begins.” Ahra looks at him worriedly.

“Noona~”

Then there it was. She sighs heavily and turned a left. “Fine.”

They stopped at an old apartment building. Kyuhyun smiles to himself and grabs his bag.

“Goodbye! I love you!”

“Alright, just be back tomorrow!” she reminded him.

Kyuhyun was nothing but excited. Leeteuk is his best friend and they have known each other for life. Leeteuk was a few years older and way more mature than he’ll ever be. But maybe that was the reason why Kyuhyun liked him so much. Since he and his siblings studied at different schools and they only get to see each other at night and the weekends, he always looked for another brother image. Leeteuk was the first candidate for it and eventually became one. They knew everything about each other. They shared toys, they shared friends and they shared thoughts. Nothing could separate the two that sometimes even Kyuhyun’s real brother would be jealous for the attention his giving to Leeteuk.  

Kyuhyun finally reached the door and knocked. When the door opened, his eyes went down to see a little girl. Her big eyes sparkled at him.

“Hwayoungie...” he felt himself tearing up.

He kneeled to see her face to face. Her face was round and her cheeks were full. Her eyes looked like little stars shining before him and she also had a cute little nose and beautiful pink lips to match it. It was her first time seeing Kyuhyun in person but she was perfectly calm.

“Honey who’s there?”

Suddenly a woman wearing an apron approached them. She had the same eyes as the little girl. Hwayoung was definitely a clone of her.

“Kyuhyun-ah!” her jaw dropped at the unexpected visitor but nonetheless, she was so happy seeing him.

“Sora noona!”

“You just came in time! I’m cooking lunch! Come on inside!”

She then gathers Hwayoung in her arms and closed the door.

“Oppa! Come here! Guess who came to visit!” she shouts.

“Is it the bill again?!” Leeteuk went out of a room, annoyed with his bed hair and unwashed face.

“Tukie, Tukie!”

The irritated expression was easily replaced with a wide grin. Leeteuk runs to the younger and jumped at him with a big embrace.

“Cho Kyuhyun!!!!”  

“Oh god. Get off me! You’re stinky!!!” Kyuhyun struggles for his life but Leeteuk won’t let go.

Then a high pitched laugh emerged from their back. They turned around and saw Hwayoung in her pink one piece trying to hold back her laugh.

“My little princess!” Leeteuk spreads his arms and his daughter runs into his embrace. Kyuhyun couldn’t help but feel more jealous.

“She grew up so fast and she certainly looks more beautiful than in the webcam.”

Kyuhyun might have stayed in New York but he was always there. From the day of her birth, to her first birthday and her first walk. Leeteuk always held his phone and laptop whenever he was with her for Kyuhyun to witness her growth every step of the way.

“Of course! She follows after her dad!”

Sora snorts as she placed the food on table. “Please, all she got from you is being loud!”

“I could agree to that!”

Leeteuk hissed at the younger but ignores hitting him in front of his child.

Kyuhyun accompanied Leeteuk to the auto shop a few blocks away from the apartment.

“I never thought you would this be hard working.”

“Well, if I can’t do it for me, I got to do it for my family.” He slips back under the car with a screw driver in hand.

“Well, does your father know about her?”

“Nope...”

“Hyung, one way or another you have to tell him.”

“He threw his son away and did not bother to check up on him for almost five years. What makes you think he’d give a damn about his granddaughter?” He was hidden under the car but Kyuhyun was sure that Leeteuk felt sad about it.

“Doesn’t she ask for him?”

“We don’t talk about him. Pass the plies.”

“Then what if she does?”

“Then we’ll just have to cross the bridge when it’s there.”

Kyuhyun sighs heavily and pulls Leeteuk out of the car.

“Hyung! Your father might change his mind when he sees Hwayoung. Who wouldn’t fall for her? She’s so cute and beautiful. You should really give it a try.”

Kyuhyun is an insistent person and he won’t stop till his point is taken. Leeteuk knows that very well.

“You know what, maybe we should order two beers and chicken. I think you’re still hungry.”

The younger had no plans on stopping the argument but follows his friend anyway.

“So are you staying here for good?”

“I don’t know.”

They sat in a small sofa and waited for their delivery.

“I really feel bad for you. I know you don’t really want this.”

“I know. But it’s not like inventing a new online game that could match up with Starcraft can get any more realistic. Unlike yours, your dreams are more real.”

Leeteuk was almost a graduate in culinary and arts. It would only take only about a year and a half for him to finally be a certified chef and start up a new restaurant somewhere in Seoul.  But his dreams slowly crumbled down when his father found out about his sudden shift in course. His father wanted his son to take business management and be a good business man like the man himself and like the usual, to take over the company. However, Leeteuk refused to be in that position and still pleaded to finish the course he already started till his father had enough and kicked him out of their house and removed all his inheritance. He lived hardly like that for five years.

“And it’s not like I have any choice either. Now can we stop talking about this? Where the hell—“

“Chicken delivery!” someone shouts at the door.

“Coming!” Leeteuk rushes to the man and gets the two boxes of chicken.

Kyuhyun followed to help but he was stopped to his tracks. He knew he had seen the man before. The height, the body built and, the presence he knew all too well. The only thing changed is that instead of a high school uniform, the man stood in a yellow polo and a black baseball cap. Kyuhyun walked closer to have a better look but the man still had his head down as he was giving Leeteuk his change.

Then finally he looked up. “Thank you so much sir!”

Kyuhyun froze for a few seconds but he did not let him escape. He ran towards the door and blocked it, leaving the man in shock.

“Excuse me, I have to—“

“Nice to see you again, Lee Sungmin.”
