Chapter One.     “Four eyes!”   “Fatty!”   He remembered those words. They shouldn’t hurt anymore, but they still did, even though they were just awful phrases of child's play. The amount of hurt he felt was excessive compared to the pain back when he was just a little boy. In middleschool, he was aware that his classmates stopped their teasing, although the bullying remained endless. Sometimes, like a coward, he used to cry to himself.   There was a time in fifth grade when he had a first crush. She was a young, pretty girl. Even though he couldn’t recall her name, he remembered her long, dark brown hair and beautiful chocolate eyes. He remembered her angelic voice whenever she spoke up in class. He fell in love with her. But, instantly knew it was impossible. She would never ever like the “fatty in glasses”. And, as he predicted, she never did.   There was no reason for him to think about it anymore, so he shut his eyes and attempted to empty out his thoughts.   “Chanyeol…” He heard someone quietly call out to him. He furrowed his brows, hoping the girl of his dreams would be standing there right in front of him when he opened his eyes.   Chanyeol pulled himself out of trance, but only saw his mother with an enormous grin on her aging, yet beautiful face. Their smiles were alike, and their faces almost identical. So, if his mother could earn the love of one man, why couldn’t he ever get a girlfriend? Why couldn’t someone fall in love with him like he had fallen in love with that girl back in gradeschool?   “Are you ready for the first day of your third year?” his mother asked a little too excitedly, joining him on the living room couch.   He grimaced at the thought of going back to school where he spent his time alone, away from the other kids. It was already too late to transfer, but he knew that even transferring wouldn’t make the slightest difference. His mother saw the small frown on his face and lightly nudged him, the beaming expression on her face still present as it found its way onto Chanyeol's face as well.   “My little Chan-nyeol,” she whispered as he laid his head on her lap, just like he used to when he was younger.
