Beautiful Stranger

The Summer to-do List

The kid called Curiosity is next to me
It calls me and follows me around form morning to night
The detachment of dreams and reality resemble you
It doesn’t matter, tell me everything, I’m ready
A strange person, a strange us, I want to get to know you

Excitement was in the air. If you reached out you would probably feel an electric shock. Reilly was bounding about the lake house screaming her lungs out. Okay, so maybe the excitement was all contained in Reilly.

"For the love of god would you shut up?" Amy shouted while throwing a pillow in the direction of the screams.

"Hey! Don't throw things." Reilly slid over and whispered in Amy's ear, "There are breakable objects everywhere, if I so much as scratch anything I'm dead. Do you want to be responsible for the death of your best friend?"

"A little over dramatic aren't we?" Amy whispered back.

"Never!" Reilly shouted. Amy cringed and scooched across the couch away from her.

"Did you finish unpacking?" Amy asked.

"Oh yeah. My stuff is all organized." Reilly told her happily.

"You should have told me, I've been done. Do you want to watch a movie?" Amy asked. Reilly slowly walked in front of Amy. The look on her face was frightening. "Okay so, no movie?"

"AMY!" Reilly shrieked. "We have an entire beach in our back yard. We have a town to explore. There are dozens of cute boys waiting to be discovered," Reilly bent closer to Amy's face. ",and you want to watch a movie?"

"Reilly, we have the whole summer to do that. I want to watch a movie," Amy clicked the remote. "and I will with or without you."

"Fine!" Reilly shouted. She marched herself upstairs and into the bedroom she claimed. She was comfortable with the upstairs bedrooms because last summer she slept in them. Her mother and aunt had sent all the kids to sleep upstairs. Three girls in one and four boys in the other bedroom. It was a fun summer. Although, not as fun as the one she had planned this year. She dug around the dresser and pulled out her swimsuit. She had taken Amy bikini shopping yesterday so they'd both be in style for the summer. Reilly had her heart set on a cheetah print bikini but Amy had found a matching set of bikinis that made a heart on the bottoms when they stood next to each other. Being the dorks they were, they couldn't resist buying the suits.

As Amy was searching through the channels to find a good movie, Reilly came strutting loudly down the stairs.

"I hope you know I'll be incomplete without you!" Reilly groaned. She pointed to her hip where half a heart was printed.

"I hope you know you'll be just fine." Amy muttered.

"I heard that." Reilly sang. She slid her feet into a pair of flip flops and grabbed her tote. She had one sitting out for Amy if she decided to join. Containing sunglasses, sunscreen, a couple towels, and a book she thought it was the perfect thing to bring with to the beach. She took one last frustrated glance at Amy and walked out the back door.

Reilly was excited to see that the beach was almost empty and the sun was covered by clouds. A family with a couple of little kids was set up close to the shore and a group of guys were playing volleyball a few yards away. It was a private beach so she assumed the family and the guys were her neighbors for the summer. She shook out and laid down a towel to sit on. Staring at the guys was easy because of the sunglasses. They couldn't see her eyes so, she could stare all she wanted.

She tried to determine their ages based on appearance. Their were four of them, and they all looked asian. Reilly wondered if they were brothers or good friends or what. I mean they were all cute, how do cute guys always hang in groups? She leaned back and looked up at the clouds. Deciding that the weather was perfect for a nap, she laid all the way back and stretched out on her towel.

"Wahh! Jeez Jimin!" a loud voice yelled. A few seconds later an explosion of sand landed on Reilly. She screamed at the sudden grit that covered her and sat up. One of the boys came rushing over yelling rushed 'I'm sorry's.

"Oh my god," he picked up the volleyball that sat next to Reilly,"We didn't mean to hit all the way over here."

"Um," Reilly quit brushing sand off of her stomach and looked up at the boy. He had shaggy black hair covering his forehead and a red SnapBack covering the rest of his hair. She also noticed something intriguing, he had a complete six pack.

"Are you alright?" he asked with a chuckle. He couldn't help admiring her long dark hair and matching skin. She was beautiful.

"Yeah," Reilly nodded and stood up."I'm fine but now there's sand all over my stuff."

"Aish, I'm sorry about that. It's my fault. I didn't realize how hard I hit it. I'm not sure how I even managed to do that." his voice was higher that Reilly would have expected. It was sweet and flowed well. His cheeks were really round and she had the urge to pinch them.

"It's okay, but it looks like your friends are waiting." Reilly pointed to the three guys staring at the pair.

"They can wait," he focused his attention on Reilly. "I noticed that you came out of that house earlier, are you staying there?"

"Um, yeah with my friend. Why?" She asked slowly tipping her sunglasses down a bit. Jimin noted that she seemed suspicious and maybe nervous, but as soon as he saw her eyes all hope for a normal conversation was gone. He was in love.

"Well my friends and I are staying in the house next to it. We'll be seeing each other a lot probably?" he gave her a greasy wink. "My name is Jimin Park, what's yours?"

"Reilly Peters." she said and returned the wink. He raised his eyebrows and giggled.

"Well um, I should get back to my friends." he turned to run back. He jogged a little then turned back. "See ya later Reilly!"

Reilly watched him with his friends. The tallest of the four patted Jimin on the back. One of them kept staring at Reilly. He had red hair and a baby face. She laughed and pulled out her phone to call Amy.

Back inside the lake house Amy heard her phone ring. She got up and searched for the source of the music. She could hear it coming from her room. She raced upstairs and saw it laying on her bed. The sunlight coming through her big window was blinding. She answered her phone and walked over to close the curtains.

"Hello?" she said. She slid the phone into the crook of her neck and reached up to grab the curtains.

"Get your outside now!"

"What do you need Reilly?" Amy asked with an exasperated voice. She peeked out the window and looked at the view. A gorgeous beach view. Then she noticed who was on the beach. A small group of guys playing volleyball, and Reilly sitting on a towel talking to her on the phone. "by the way I see you!"

"What?" Reilly turned and looked at the house. Amy waved from an upstairs window. "Oh I see you too, but do you see the cute guys?"

"Affirmative, what about them?" Amy asked. Reilly could not have found a summer boyfriend already.

"They're staying next door!" she said in an excited whisper.

"Okay cool," Amy paused. "Are you telling me to come outside and talk to them with you?"

"Nooooooo," Reilly started. "Okay yeah that's exactly what I'm saying."

"Reilly!" Amy whined.

"Theyre cute! Let's at least be friendly neighbors and greet them!" Reilly bargained. Amy sighed and mumbled something about getting ready and hung up. If she was going to meet a bunch of boys, why not make herself presentable? She really didn't care about meeting boys but she felt she owed it to Reilly. It was her lake house and part of her summer plan.

Reilly made herself busy with her phone. Pretending to check messages and playing games, she hoped she didn't seem like she was waiting for Amy.

After what felt like an hour Reilly heard Amy's soft footsteps behind her. She turned to greet the blonde.

"Hey!" Reilly chirped.

"Howdy," Amy looked over at the other side of the beach. "So those four are our neighbors for the summer?"

"I don't know how long, but as of now Yes!" Reilly stood up and started walking over to them.

"Oh god," Amy muttered. She dropped her bag and sped up to walk beside Reilly. One of the guys noticed and waved.

"Hi Jimin!" Reilly waved back. Amy wondered if she had already talked to them. He and his friends walked towards them and Amy suddenly felt a blush fade across her cheeks.

"Who's your friend?" Jimin asked sweetly and politely. Amy was surprised at the pitch of his voice. She would have expected something deep from a guy with a six pack and nice arms. Then again he did have a bit of a baby face. Maybe he was younger than them.

"My name's Amy, nice to meet you." She didn't know if she should shake his hand or something. She decided not to.

"Hi, well this is Namjoon." he pointed to a taller guy with sunglasses on. He waved. "This is my best friend Jungkook." Jungkook seemed to be shy because he had his hands behind his back and he shuffled his feet. Reilly noticed that he was the one staring at her earlier. His hair was dyed a burgundy color.

"Bro," Namjoon interrupted. He had a deep but kindof raspy voice. "I thought I was your best friend."

"Eh," Jimin shrugged and tried to keep a straight face. He only held it for a minute and then burst into giggles.

"Anyways, I'm Taehyung Kim, but people call me V." This was the voice that Amy would have expected from Jimin. Taehyung, or V, had a ridiculous smile on his face and he didn't seem to care, or notice. He must have dyed his hair awhile ago because it was a faded orange and dark brown roots were showing.

"So I figured that since we're 'neighbors', we should get to know each other." Reilly said with a flirtatious smile. Jimin started giggling again and Namjoon patted him on the head.

"Don't worry about him, he laughs a lot." Namjoon said with a chuckle.

"Like a lot, a lot." Jungkook piped up. His smile was cute. But he looked so young.

"How old are you guys?" Amy asked suddenly. "Just wondering."

"Jimin and I are eighteen." V said with a big smile.

"Well I'm a very mature adult, I'm nineteen." Namjoon said, complete with cocky posture.

"That's only one year older th-" Jungkook started to say but his mouth was soon covered by Namjoon.

"Shhh, you have yet to learn the difference a year can make." Namjoon shushed.

"Our little Jungkookie is only sixteen." Jimin said while reaching to pinch Jungkook's cheeks. Amy couldn't help but laugh at his behavior.

"Well Amy and I are both seventeen, although I'm closer to being eighteen than she is." Reilly said putting her arm around Amy's neck.

"When's your birthday?" Namjoon asked curiously.

"It's in September." she said. A phone started to ring. The teens all looked at each other. It was the most generic sounding ring that a phone could have. Reilly looked into her bag and the guys all started rummaging through their short pockets.

"It's mine!" V yelled. He answered it and walked away from the group.

"Are you ladies all alone in that big lake house?" Namjoon asked putting a friendly arm around Jungkook. "Cause we are in ours."

"Dude you sound like a ert." Jungkook told him. The girls burst out laughing. Jungkook grinned and blushed a little.

"At least he didn't do the eyebrow thing or bite his lip." Jimin said inbetween giggles.

"I can't help my overwhelming charisma." Namjoon said leaning onto Jungkook.

"You guys are funny." Reilly said. Amy was watching V on the phone. He seemed to be stressed. She couldn't help but wonder who he was talking to. It wasn't her business but the way his eyebrows were scrunched together and he was biting his lip worried her. Was he okay?

"Earth to Amy?" Reilly was snapping her fingers in front of Amy hoping to get her attention.

"What?" Amy jerked her attention to Reilly and the boys in front of her. Namjoon started to laugh and Jungkook was preventing his giggles with the back of his hand.

"Someone interested?" Jimin asked. Amy didn't understand.

"What do you mean?" She asked with a odd expression.

"He's single if you were wondering." Namjoon told Amy. Amy realized what they were suggesting and she waved her hand shooeing their ideas away.

"Come on, you keep eyeing him." Reilly whispered. She prodded Amy's arms. Giggling and suggestive, Jimin raised his eyebrows at Amy.

"Stop it!" Amy yelped. She covered her face with her hands. Her skin was hot to the touch and obviously blushing.

"Stop what?" V asked. Jimin almost fell over laughing.

"Wonderful timing dude." Namjoon told V. Clueless, he just kind of giggled along with Jimin.

"So what was the call about?" Jungkook asked. His curiosity seemed to match Amy's. Clueless and interested.

"Mom called, asking where you were." V said giving a glare at Namjoon.

"What did you tell her?" Namjoon's play boy façade melted instantly. Now he looked more like a scared little boy.

"I pretended not to know." V told him. "But you owe me." The girls looked at each other and then looked at the guys. Jungkook had a grim expression on his face. Jimin just looked amused by the situation. Namjoon seemed to be weighing options in his head.

"Well, I must be going before she comes looking for me." Namjoon reached for Amy and Reilly's hands. He planted a kiss on each of their hands. "Goodbye ladies. I'll see you later. Hopefully."

"Get going , I don't wanna get in trouble for lying to your mom!" V said shoving Namjoon up the beach.

"Have fun hiding!" Jungkook called.

"I hope you get your whooped!" Jimin shouted.

"Harsh man!" Namjoon yelled back at Jimin. Amy nudged Reilly. Reilly put her arm around Amy and decided to pick up yet another conversation with Jimin.

"So should we even ask what that was about?" Reilly asked with a laid back curiosity. Jungkook laughed.

"Let's just say Namjoon isn't exactly the best student, and should be somewhere and he isn't." Jimin told them.

"He's skipping out of a makeup summer college course." Jungkook explained.

"Wait so did he like fail a whole course?" Amy asked.

"Bingo." Jimin said giving a little snap. The echo of a slamming car door flew down the lakeside. A frustrated V also came down the lakeside. He was pulling at his hair and groaning.

"I hate him!" His voice carried to the group.

"No you don't." Jungkook mumbled as V got closer.

"I know," V shook his head. "I love him to death but I can't keep covering his ."

"Sooner or later he'll get caught, Tae." Jimin told him.

"Yes but then I'll get in trouble for covering for him." V groaned.

"Just stop and let him deal with it." Jungkook reasoned. "He's the one who should it up and face the music."

"That's definitely not the music he wants to hear. He wants to play his own." Jimin laughed.

"That's part of the problem." V half yelled half whispered. "I'm sorry about this," V looked to the girls. "You guys must be annoyed."

"Eh, we've got nothing better to do." Reilly told them. She looked to Amy for assurance. She shrugged. For the first time, V took a minute to look at them both. Reilly was dark and beautiful, she also gave off a fun bubbly vibe. She was the kind of girl that usually hung around Jimin and V. Amy was short and cute, but she gave off this serious and judge mental vibe. Her face was sweet and loveable when she smiled. When she wasn't, she looked like she was going to punch someone. That was the kindof girl Jungkook seemed to fawn over. Jungkook would up and follow older girls around hoping they'd fall for his cute charm. It worked a few times.

"Are you two busy? We could like, actually do something." Jimin suggested. "As opposed to just standing here."

"Actually I t-" Amy's comment was cut off by a sharp finger nail to the arm. She squeaked and Reilly took over. "We'd love to hangout."

"Awesome!" V and Jimin said at the same time. Jungkook just had a ridiculous smile on his face. He was in need of company other than his idiot friends.

"How familiar are you with Belleview?" V asked.

"Um, I've been here a several times but never really explored." Reilly admitted. The boys looked at Amy.

"I've never been here before, to be honest." Jimin looked like he had just won the jackpot.

"Well," Jimin bowed. "Call us your tour guides."

"But if we're gonna show you around," Jungkook started.

"You'll have to change." Jimin said.

"Most businesses, despite the fact this is a beach town, hate kids walking in in swimsuits and stuff." V continued.

"I got kicked out for coming in a store in a swimsuit and a tank top with my girlfriend in a bikini." Jungkook confessed.

"Well give us half an hour and we'll be ready." Reilly told the boys. She and Amy turned around to go grab their things and head inside.
