ONE
"Our History"

~ Hana's POV ~

If you’re going to ask how Kai and I met, it’ll be like one of those cringy and awkward meeting with your first crush.

Accidents happen at least expected, and that accident might change your life forever. Should I consider him a good or bad change?

Ever since my big brother died, I lost someone to be by my side. Someone who will protect me. Someone who has my back whenever I needed one.

I was alone and fragile.

A lot has been bullying because one, I don’t have self-esteem and second, I don’t have a good family background like the other kids I grew up with.

It was late that night. The weather was extremely cold, but I just ignored it and just continued walking home. All I want was to rest and drink something hot. Addition to that, I still have home works to do. I was walking on my way home from school.

Under a train station where I was walking, three young guys were dancing.

They are dancing into the rhythm and beat of the song that I cannot hear. As I walked closer, I could see that these young guys were almost the same age as mine or not?

Are they an underground dance group? Just like my brother who loves dancing so much.

That was the first thing that came into my mind.

All of them, they are so good at dancing but there was this guy who was an exception for me. When it was his turn to dance, I stopped from walking.

Everything just stopped. The way he moved his hands, his body and his expression, you could see how passionate and how he loves what he was doing. Suddenly, when it was him who was dancing, I heard music.

He reminded me so much of my big brother. That’s the first time I saw him.

But the second time is what changed my relationship with him.

One of the most unforgettable moment that changed me.

---

When I was in elementary, I got bullied a lot. I don’t know why I’m letting them do it, but maybe it was because I don’t want to worsen the situation. If I fight back, they will just bully me even more and I can’t lose my scholarship.

“Didn’t your mother cheated on your father? I even saw it on the news!”

“You’re a daughter of a wh*re!”

I clenched my fists. Isn’t that too much to say. That word coming out from a mouth of a young girl was disgusting.

Let’s say, I came from a family who was quite famous. I had a celebrity/businesswoman mother. It was all fame and glamour at first until she died.

My biological father got re-married, leaving me and my big brother alone, sending up allowances every month to live, but we were not considered as a part of that family anymore.

We considered ourselves orphan. And my brother told me, not to get involve with that family anymore.

“Hey, would you like to wear a lipstick? Maybe you’ll get a lot of guys too just like what your mother did. Come here.”

“Don’t talk about my late mother that way. You have no idea what happened.”

One girl pulled me by the hair. “Did you just glare?”

I frown and struggled while they held my face in position and started putting bright red lipstick on my lips. Purposely putting it beyond my lips making me look like a clown.

“Stop!” I yelled but they just laughed and started putting foundation on my face and heavy eyeliner.

“There, look at you! You’re so pretty!”

“Just like joker! Daughter of a wh*re.”

One snickered and threw the lipstick to me while I stared at the ground, trying to hold back my tears.

I won’t let them see me crying and I won’t definitely let them know what they did…already broke me.

As soon as they left the school’s bathroom, I walk towards the mirror and looks at myself. Pitying myself and I was thinking, what have I done to deserve this?

And there, I started crying so hard that the make-up they put on me started to smudge and I wiped it using the sleeve of my uniform.

Why did I do to deserve a life like this?

--

I went straight home after that, I don’t want to see the girls who did that to me. I can’t ev
