“Will we meet again?” I ask quietly.

The bustling of the streets and the sound of cars zooming on expressways filled the empty silence that lay around the night.

He stood on the edge of the building, while I took the safer option of sitting beside him instead. My bare feet dangled along the building walls as I glanced down to see the ground forty levels away.

“Let the living live the lives the dead cannot live anymore,” He said before clinking his can of beer next to mine. “We might meet again, but until then, lets make a promise.”

I took a mouthful from the can in my hands and stood up on the same edge I had been sitting. I looked to him full on the eye, understanding the weight of his words.
