All We've Left Behind

“Our friendship is the only thing I've got, why would I even throw it away?”

“Chanyeol!” Baekhyun's voice boomed from the kitchen, making Chanyeol jumped out of his seat and fall to the floor. He cursed under his breathe as he rubbed his elbow, which he used for support to get his head safe from getting hit by the floor. He stood up as he raised his eyebrow. It was too early, it was only 6:52 in the morning and Baekhyun was already shouting at the top of his lungs.

Chanyeol walked to the stairs and shouted from upstairs. “What?” his voice was deep and manly, and that's why his voice blends in with Baekhyun's. The smaller's voice was high-pitched and can hit high notes, while his voice is deep as an ocean. He's a rapper, too.

“Get your down here, Chanyeol,” Baekhyun's voice was small, yet full of authority. Chanyeol groaned as he marched lazily downstairs, the sound of spoons and forks against plates echoing through their house's kitchen. The others weren't at home, and that leaves Chanyeol and Baekhyun alone, but since the tall man was terrible when it comes to cooking, the smaller forbid him to go anywhere near the kitchen.

“What is happening?” Chanyeol scoffed, looking at Baekhyun wearing a pink apron and his sideburns wet because of the sweat. Baekhyun wiped his sweat off using the towel swung in his shoulder as he looked at Chanyeol. “You look ugly,” the tall man said, as he chuckled. The older scowled at him as he started pouring the food to the plate.

“Don't you want some food, Chanyeol?” Baekhyun said as he smirked at the tall one, placing the plate of food at the center of the table. Chanyeol looked at the food as he his lips in excitement. Baekhyun isn't really a cook, he hates cooking, but since Kyungsoo isn't around, he had to try and excel in the thing for a week. “The food looks delicious, but since you've called me ugly, I guess you've got nothing.”

“WHAT?! That's unfair,” Chanyeol said as he pouted. Baekhyun pinched Chanyeol's cheek as he removed his apron. “Give me some, please?” Chanyeol pleaded, flashing his shiny eyes and killer pout. Baekhyun looked at him like he was a kid and smiled.

“Okay then,” Baekhyun said, pushing the plate towards Chanyeol's direction. The latter squealed as he got a spoon. “But if you call me ugly again, you'll get nothing for lunch and dinner.”

Chanyeol chuckled and pinched Baekhyun's cheek. “Of course, I won't do that again... puppy.

A year had passed and the friendship Baekhyun and Chanyeol had grew even bigger. Baekhyun had started snuggling Chanyeol in the bed, burying his face on the crook of the tall's neck as he breathed in the manly smell of his best friend's neck. Chanyeol would Baekhyun's hair, then. Their legs would be tangled to one another, Chanyeol's hand on Chanyeol's waist; Baekhyun's around the taller's neck.

“Chanyeol,” Baekhyun whined, his face buried against the taller's chest. He heard Chanyeol's fast heartbeat as he closed his eyes while Chanyeol kept hair.

Chanyeol hummed to express that he was listening. Baekhyun sighed as Chanyeol tightened his grasp on the smaller's waist. “What are we?”

Chanyeol closed his eyes as he sighed. Chanyeol felt something for Baekhyun, and it was something way more than friendship, and he felt that feeling since he saw Baekhyun's smile that seems to light up his lonely world.

“Friends,” Chanyeol said, tears started to form on his eyes. He closed his eyes shut to stop the tears from flowing. “We're good friends.”

After three more years, Baekhyun had started to date other men. He dated Kris, and many other guys.

“Chanyeol,” Baekhyun whined while they were sitting on the couch. Chanyeol, as usual, hummed to tell Baekhyun that he was listening. He had his attention full on the television, as Baekhyun pouted. “Look at me.”

Chanyeol twisted his body to face the smaller, but his eyes were glued to the screen. Baekhyun crossed his arms across his chest as he scoffed at Chanyeol. He hated it when Chanyeol doesn't pay any attention to him, so he slapped Chanyeol's hand who was around his waist. Chanyeol, looking surprised, finally shifted his gaze to Baekhyun, who was looking like a predator, preparing to attack his prey. “What?” Chanyeol said, annoyance evident in his voice as he stared at Baekhyun's dark orbs.

The smaller stood up as he crossed his arms across his chest. “I was telling you how much of a jerk Kris is!” he whined, Chanyeol raising an eyebrow.

“I warned you, Baek. I told you that he's no good,” Chanyeol said, as he looked at the television before him again. Baekhyun scoffed at his best friend's reaction as he slumped beside Chanyeol.

“Chanyeol,” Baekhyun whined as he wrapped his arms around Chanyeol's waist. “Are you angry at me?”

Chanyeol shook his head, his attention still fixed on the screen. Baekhyun frowned as he stood up, blocking his best friend's view of the screen.

“Hey, Baek, don't do that,” Chanyeol said, pulling Baekhyun's wrist for the latter to sit down. Baekhyun, on the other hand, tried to keep his stand as annoyance spread through Chanyeol's face.

“Chanyeol,” Baekhyun paused as his breathing hitched. “I hate you.”

“I love you too, Dwarf. Now, get out of the way,” Chanyeol said as he pulled Baekhyun by the waist, the latter lost his balance and his fell on Chanyeol's right leg. His heart almost came out of his chest as his back flattened against the taller's broad chest. He felt Chanyeol's warm breathe at the back of his neck, sending chills down his spine.

“Baekhyun?” a deep voice made Baekhyun jump out of shock as he glanced at the owner of the voice. He was in the music room, composing songs. Chanyeol sat beside him and looked at his sparkly eyes. Baekhyun felt awkward, since the day Chanyeol pulled him and made him sit on the taller's right leg.

“Chanyeol,” Baekhyun said as he heaved a sigh. He continued writing lyrics as the taller cleared his throat. “Why?”

“Baekhyun, I don't want to be your best friend anymore,” Chanyeol said, his voice barely above a whisper. Baekhyun felt his heart clench as tears sprung in his eyes.

“You, don't want to be my best friend anymore?” Baekhyun said, as he held a sob back. He didn't want Chanyeol to see him as a weakling. He didn't want Chanyeol to know that he was weak.

“Yes,” Baekhyun felt his heart break into shattered pieces. He clenched his fists as he closed his eyes to hold his tears back. “I don't want to be your best friend anyore.”

Baekhyun gritted his teeth as he spoke. “Fine, Chanyeol.”

“Because... I want us to be more than that,” Chanyeol said as he sighed. Baekhyun's eyes widen. He glared at Chanyeol as he scoffed. Best friends remain best friends, Chanyeol.

“No, you don't,” Baekhyun said as he avoided the taller's gaze. Chanyeol looked at Baekhyun, at the smaller's hair, down to his eyes and eyelashes, to his cute little nose and his perfect, plump lips. He sighed. Baekhyun's remarks, even though it wasn't clear, was a sign that he was rejected.

“I know you don't like me back,” Chanyeol paused as he stood up. “At least I've had the chance to let you know.”

Chanyeol walked out of the music room, leaving a baffled Baekhyun.

At least, I've had the chance to let you know. What does that mean?

Baekhyun came home and saw Kyungsoo and Kai cuddling at the couch. After my rejection towards Chanyeol's love, I'm sure he wouldn't invite me to cuddle again.

He nodded at the couple's direction as he started walking again. He passed by the kitchen, and saw Sehun backhugging Luhan. He remembered the time Chanyeol had surprised him while he was cooking by backhugging him. I'll surely miss his backhugs.

He head straight to his room and was surprised to see a room-free Chanyeol. There wasn't no sigh of him at all. He checked Chanyeol's closet. Tears started trickling down his cheeks as he saw nothing but a piece of paper. He picked it up and opened it, and it revealed a letter written by Chanyeol to him.

Dear my puppy, Baekhyun,

I'm sorry if you've hated me because I fell for you. I really am. See, I'm away! I hope you're happy, now that I'm out of your eyesight. Baek, promise me that you won't date any douche bags out there again! I'm tired of seeing you cry over them, Dwarf. Just promise me that, and I can die happily. I want you to be happy, and that's why I left.

Please Baekhyun, I want you to be happy. I love you and I will surely miss you.

                                    Always,

                                       Park Chanyeol.

Any moment now, the paper would be ruined because of his tears. He had his fists clenched and placed in his chest, right where his heart is placed. “Chanyeol,” Baekhyun whispered, as a gust of wind passed by him. He knelt on the flood as the paper fell. He closed his eyes and let the tears fall.

“Baek?” Baekhyun eyes flew open as he heard that familiar deep voice. He turned around and saw Chanyeol, grinning from ear to ear. The smaller's eyes widen as his jaw dropped. Chanyeol is still here?

“Chanyeol?” Baekhyun said, his voice barely above a whisper. He helf Chanyeol's wrist. “You're here!”

“Of course I am! What makes you think I'm not?” Chanyeol said as he raised his eyebrow. “And why were you crying?”

“Oh my God, you left me a letter, you ing ! You scared me!” Baekhyun said as he threw his fist on Chanyeol's chest, confusion written on the taller's face.

“Letter?” Chanyeol asked as the door flew open. “What letter?”

Baekhyun and Chanyeol turned at the sound of the door banging against the wall. Kyungsoo, Kai, Luhan and Sehun then came in. “We wrote the letter.”

Baekhyun scowled at the four as Chanyeol laughed. “We're tired of seeing you two run in circles,” Luhan said as he grinned.

“es,” Baekhyun said as the four laughed. Chanyeol then pulled him in for a hug.

“I love you, Dwarf,” Chanyeol said as he Baekhyun's hair. The smaller smiled as he responded.

“I love you too, Giant,” Baekhyun said, blush running across his cheek. “I'm sorry for -”

“Shush, puppy,” Chanyeol said as he closed his eyes. “Because that's all we've left behind.”

But there is a mistake there....( “I love you too, Giant,” Baekhyun said, blood running across his cheek.) is it really blood and not tears?
