Café

Description

I'm writing this diary because I've realized there are many stories to tell everyday on this little coffeeshop. Some of them are worth keeping and some of them, even if I don't write them down, I know I'll keep them on my mind forever. Just like the story of a couple that always orderded the same thing, everytime they came. The boy with dark hair and eyes that went from having a twinkle that screamed "I'm in love" to relect his broken soul and the girl with blonde-dyed hair that was always smiling untill one day she didn't.

Foreword

I work as a cashier at a small café at Manhattan. At this place you can find all kinds of people, of all ages and with many stories worth telling.

On rainy days -most of the days of the year, to be precise-, we welcome regular customers and tourists that are coming or going to Times Square. What tells the difference between both is pretty simple: 1)Their coats: locals usually wear dark colors, while tourists like bright colors better.

2)Their pace: locals walk very fast trying to leave some space between tourists and them. Usually they're on a hurry trying to get on time to their jobs or to pickup their children from school. When their destination is the Café, you can see them coming from the big glass window with great expectation on their eyes. That look that shows they're waiting for the delightful aroma of freshly made coffee and brownies. Tourists have a slower and carefree pace. Even before they enter the Café you can see their all-of-this-is-new-for-me-look on their faces.

This place becomes especially crowded on days with sever storms, that usually are many. The streams of people that instead of rushing down the streets decide to find shelter indoors and choose to drink something hot to go on with their day.

On sunny days -sometimes the rare ones-, we welcome many customers too. They usually buy cold drinks but there are still some bitter and boiling coffee lovers or just people that are going to work -or taking a break from it- that order a strong americano.
