He always texts first.

"What're you doing this Sunday?"
*Nothing much.  Lee's test is on Tues though."
"Have you eaten yet?"
"No I've only just caught the bus"
"I'm getting breakfast at the corner cafe, get yours as well?"
"mm..yes please"

Always said hi with a smile on his face, eyes creasing into two crescents.

"Got you breakfast - ham and egg?"

They were friends first and foremost - who shared the same interests and never ran out of things to say to each other.

"I was looking for you earlier, where'd you go?"

"Prof. Lee asked for mentors for the Yr 1s after class, gotta stay for a while more"

"that's too bad..was hoping to walk home with you today".

Nothing out of the ordinary, really.  

Until one day they both realise everything's changed without them knowing - and now they can't go back to how they were before.
