Seungri POV

“Seungri ! Please bring this to table 7.” My friend, Youngbae said while handing me 2 plates of waffle and 2 cups of Americano. “Ok hyung !” I said. Youngbae is the chef in this café while I work as a waiter. He’s 2 years older than me so that’s why I called him hyung.

I quickly bring my order when I accidentally bump into someone, “Oh my god, I’m sorry Jiyong hyung !” I said slightly bowing to apologize.

“It’s ok Ri, don’t overwork yourself cause you looked pale today.” He said while helping me holding the food.

“I’m ok hyung, don’t worry.” I said smiling.

“If you say so, which table is this for?” Jiyong asked while holding my tray of food.

“Table 7, it’s ok hyung, no need to help. It’s my duty anyway” I said trying to take back my tray.

“Nope, you should get some –“ before he get to finish his word, I quickly grab the tray and run away from him.

I turned back showing my tongue to him playfully but I guess I shouldn’t do that cause I accidentally hit someone making my tray fall and making his cloth dirty.

“Oh my god, I’m really really really sorry sir ! It’s my fault, I’m really sorry !” I said trying to clean up the mess I made.

“I just bought this shirt last week ! How are you going to fix this? Buying a new shirt for me?” He said a bit angry. I just lowered my head while keep saying sorry. To be honest, today I had a fever. I don’t want to be a burden by taking a day of so I ended up making a mess.

“Now. Now. That’s enough and let’s forget about the past. My friend here is a bit sick today so please accept his apology. How about to repay the mess that my friend made, we’ll give you our top 3 special food and a free drink. It’s on the house.” Jiyong hyung said calmly to the customer.

“Tch, fine whatever. You’re lucky I’m damn hungry right now and that I’m a regular here !” He said walking away. Jiyong hyung then winked at me before continue doing his work.

Jiyong hyung is my best friend. He’s 2 years older but he’s the closest to me since I worked here. On my first day, he always help me and we hang out a lot too and then we became best friend. And let’s just say that I also has a crush on him. He always treat me nicely and he’s always there for me. I like him but I’m not sure if he likes me too since he’s a friendly person.

“Jiyong hyung, thanks for earlier today. I always bring you trouble.” I said to him after the café is closed. We are now cleaning the café, finishing our job for today.

“No problem Ri, it’s not a big deal anyway.” He said smiling while ruffling my hair.

“Umm, hyung. How do you know that I’m sick today?” I asked, looking at him.

“Ri, I’ve known you for quite some time now, of course I would know. I thought of telling you to take a leave today and rest at home, but I saw how you tried your best hiding it from everyone, so I didn’t say it.” He said smiling.

When he smiled, I feel like the time around us has stopped. When he smiled at me, inside my chest, it’s shaking. Resounding, rapidly, throughout my body. I then looked away, blushing. I continue doing my work but suddenly I feel something at my right ear. Jiyong hyung put one of his earphone in my right ear startling me. I looked at him shocked, “Wh-what?” I said stuttering.

“This song is nice.” He said while continue doing his work while listening to the song too, wearing one of his earphone in his left ear. “Yup, it is a nice song.” I said smiling.

The right side is for the music, the left is for the voice. What both sounds carry, is a treasure.

1 years later.

“Jiyong ! Seungri ! Are you going to listen to music, talk or work? Pick one !” Daesung hyung asked us. Daesung hyung is like the assistant for the owner of the café because he’s really lose with the owner, Seunghyun hyung. Daesung hyung is strict but he’s really friendly and funny.

“Music !” We both said in unison while smiling.

“No, work ! NOW !” He said making an angry face but we just laugh knowing he was just kidding. Since that day, we started listening to music like this together.

After Daesung hyung left, I looked at Jiyong hyung who are closing his eyes, enjoying the music. I really love looking at Jiyong hyung’s face when he’s listening to music. It’s my favorite. “This song is nice.” He will always say smiling at me. But then it all change …

The next morning when I wake up, I couldn’t hear out of my right ear. I went to the hospital and the result shocked me. “It’s spontaneous deafness.” And I feel like a part of me has died.

“There’s been a surge in cases like this and the cause is unknown. There’s medicine for it. If it was only a slight hearing loss, the possibility for a full recovery is high, but in your case, you can’t hear anything at all so it’s ….. but we’ll try our best.” The doctor said. And then my world starts crumbling before me. I’ve lost a part of me, the biggest part of my life, the part that connects me and him.
