Ala, serupa dengan Malay juga kot peraturannya. Tak susah mana pun. Eh, tahu tak capitalisation ini apa?
Capitalisation (or capitalization) is writing a word with its first letter as a capital letter (upper-case letter) and the remaining letters in lower case. [terima kasih Wikipedia]
Rasanya semua tahu kan? Okay, let's get to the main point. The rules of capitalisation.
Rule 1: writing a word with its first letter as a capital letter (upper-case letter) and the remaining letters in lower case. [Menulis huruf pertama suatu ayat menggunakan huruf besar dan huruf kecil bagi selebihnya.]
Ex: The cat ran when it saw me.
Rule 2: Capitalise the first word of a quoted sentence. [Tulis menggunakan huruf besar bagi huruf pertama selepas pembuka kata.]
Ex: "Look out!" she screamed. "You almost ran into my child."
Rule 3: Capitalise a proper noun. [Tulis menggunakan huruf besar apabila menulis kata nama khas.]
Ex: The London Bridge.
Rule 4: Capitalise a person's title when it precedes the name. Do not capitalize when the title is acting as a description following the name. [Tulis menggunakan huruf besar sekiranya jawatan itu disertakan nama. Jangan menggunakan huruf besar bagi jawatan sekiranya untuk memberi keterangan.]
Ex: Senator Abrams.
Mr. Abrams, the senator, decided it was a good idea for a tour.
Rule 5: Capitalise the person's title when it follows the name on the address or signature line. [Tulis jawatan seseorang menggunakan huruf besar sekiranya ditulis di alamat atau di barisan tandatangan.]
Ex: 34/1 A, Kokoro Apartment, Seoul,
The Landlord of Kokoro Apartment.
or
Sincerely,
Mr. Abrams, Senator.
Rule 6: Capitalise any title when used as a direct address. [Tulis menggunakan huruf besar apabila memanggil mengikut jawatan.]
Ex: "Are you okay, Sir?" or "Is everything alright, Doctor?"
Rule 7: Always capitalise the first and last words of titles of publications regardless of their parts of speech. Capitalise other words within titles, including the short verb forms Is, Are, and Be. [Sentiasa menulis menggunakan huruf besar bagi suatu tajuk cerita atau apa-apa jenis penulisan khas. Tulis juga menggunakan huruf besar bagi perkataan-perkataan antara tajuk.]
Exception:
Do not capitalise little words within titles such as a, an, the, but, as, if, and, or, nor, or prepositions, regardless of their length. [Jangan gunakan huruf besar bagi perkataan antara tajuk seperti a, an, the, but, as, if, and, or, nor, or prepositions, tak kira panjangnya.]
Ex:
The Day of the Jackal
What Color Is Your Parachute?
A Tale of Two Cities
