Foreword

Sungmin opened his eyes slowly and sat up. His back ached terribly. No wonder. He'd been sleeping on a wooden bench, outside. Why the hell am I outside? He looked around. He certainly hadn't been sleeping on the bench in front of his apartment. It looked like a park, full of people, all dressed in white. Weird. Sungmin, himself was in white clothes that he didn't even know he had. He now sat on the white bench, facing a huge lake, a little confused. A huge lake? When did he ever live near a huge lake? Like never.

That lake was incredibly beautiful with its golden-orangy color, just as the sunset skewed over the horizon-line that separated the sky and the lake. Sungmin had never seen this view before. He felt peace, something he hadn't felt for while now. There were two white swans, swimming in that lake, side by side. Sungmin smiled, looking at the two animals, lovers. He looked over his shoulder. There was a thin, white road, right behind his bench, where couples walked hand in hand and children chased each other happily with laughter. Sungmin decided this is a dream, because this is too good to be true.

He stared at the beautiful lake, wanting this glorious dream of his would last forever. Until someone sat down on the bench beside him. Sungmin turned to the person. It was a stranger in white, just like everything else in this place. Sungmin smiled his friendly smile and continued staring at the lake. Sungmin could feel the man's eyes on him, but it didn't bother him a bit. Nothing could bother him. "It's beautiful" Sungmin was the first to speak. "Indeed" the stranger said, in possibly the deepest, but the smoothest voice Sungmin had ever heard.

"I don't want to wake up from this dream" Sungmin told the truth. "Dream?" asked the guy in a confused tone. "Yes, dream. My peaceful dream. Aren't you dreaming too?" Sungmin asked without turning his head. "I don't think I am" the guy chuckled. "I guess it's just my dream" Sungmin sighed. "I guess I could keep you company in your dream," the man said. "I'm Kyuhyun" he offered his hand for a shake. "I'm Sungmin" smiled Sungmin as he shook Kyuhyun's hand lightly. "Sungmin... do you think we've ever met before?" Kyuhyun asked, still holding Sungmin's hand. "No" the answer came softly and Sungmin gently pulled his hand back and smiled at Kyuhyun.

Sungmin and Kyuhyun talked and laughed for hours, and hours seemed like days. They didn't talk about their personal lives or families for some reason, but about their interests and hobbies. It seemed that Kyuhyun knew a lot about Sungmin's interest, martial arts. They walked on the thin road as they talked and Sungmin showed Kyuhyun his master moves. They both laughed when Sungmin fell and Kyuhyun tried to catch him but failed. They just laid there in silence. Kyuhyun looked at Sungmin, who was looking at the cloudless blue sky.

"Sungmin-ah, you remind me of someone" Kyuhyun said. Sungmin turned to Kyuhyun in curiosity "Who do I remind you of, Kyuhyun-ah?" Sungmin asked. "My boyfriend" answered Kyuhyun, Sungmin looked back into the sky. "I was in a car accident," Kyuhyun paused and Sungmin turned to him again. "I was brought to the hospital and they immediately called him to come to the hospital." Sungmin listened carefully. "He drove... as fast as he could. He was trying to get to me, but... there was a truck on his way and he crashed into the truck." Sungmin hugged Kyuhyun by his shoulder. "I'm so sorry" Sungmin whispered. "You don't need to apologize" Kyuhyun said to Sungmin and hugged him back.

"Kyuhyun-ah, I feel sleepy," Sungmin said, fighting to stay awake, Kyuhyun is quiet. "How is this possible? This is a... a... dream, isn't it? How... can I... get sleepy?" mumbled Sungmin, his eyelids already closing. Maybe, I'll wake up from this dream when I wake up again. As much as I wanna stay, I do need to return to reality. But if I leave now, can I come back to this dream again? What if I don't? What if I don't dream this dream again? Will Kyuhyun forgive me? I know he will...

Sungmin opened his eyes slowly and sat up on the familiar bench. He looked around the familiar place. Everything. White. The lake. The swans. I know this place. He got up and started walking. He looked all around himself. I know these people... This is my dream. I never woke up. Where. Am. I?Sungmin saw an old man and watching a little girl who seemed to be his granddaughter, happily playing on a swing. "Excuse me," the old man turned to Sungmin, smiling. "Where am I?" Sungmin asked, hesitantly. "You don't know where you are?" the old man tilted his head a bit. Sungmin nodded "In that case, I can't tell you, son. Try to remember how you got here." With those words, the old man just walked away from Sungmin.

Sungmin is now extremely confused and a little... scared. "How I got here..." Sungmin mumbled. "I was just sleeping on the... bench" He tried to point at the invisible bench which was actually on it's spot a minute ago. Okay, the things just got freaky now. What the hell is really going on? He panted. Cars. He couldn't breathe. Cars. He suffocated all of a sudden. "This isn't the dream I wanted" Sungmin fell, but didn't hit the ground. He felt pair of arms holding him and pair of beautiful, big, brown eyes staring down at him. Freaky. Now he can breathe.

Sungmin managed to talk. "Cars, Kyuhyun. Lots of them. They were fast. I couldn't... I got a phone call..." he panted and stared into Kyuhyun's eyes. Silence. "You..." Silence. "You were hurt." Kyuhyun just stared at Sungmin, still holding him. "Then... there was a big truck. I tried to go around it but... and you were hurt." Sungmin still panted.  Kyuhyun hugged Sungmin tighter. "Shh... shh... it's all over, Sungmin. All of it. I'm not hurt anymore and so aren't you. Everything's over. Take a deep breath. Shh..."

Sungmin sobbed into Kyuhyun's chest. "Hey, don't cry." Kyuhyun kissed Sungmin's tears away. "Come here I have something to show you." Kyuhyun smiled and Sungmin did the same with his watery eyes. Kyuhyun helped Sungmin up and led the way on the white road, as the white leaves slowly fell from the trees.

"We'll be together forever, right? Only death can separate us."
"No."
"What?!"
"Death can't separate us. I'm gonna be with you in heaven."
"You will?"
"I will, Minnie. I love you"
"I love you too, Kyu."
