Call or Delete

Here it is, the ending! It's rated for but it's not detailed. Just implied. I'm sorry, I couldn't get in the zone to write some decent ><

Three years later

“Pass me the chips,” Baekhyun yells over Minseok to Jongin who had a bag of potato chips in his hand.

Today, movie night was held at Sehun’s apartment, which made it convenient for everyone since his place was the middle point of everyone else’s. Most of them were piled onto the two couches in the room whereas the rest spilled out onto the floor.

“Yah, Byun, keep it down, will you? I want to listen to what Brad Pitt is saying for once,” Minseok grumbles as he increases the volume of the tv. Baekhyun mutters a quick apology as he receives the chips. He puts a hand in and takes out a handful, shoving them messily into his mouth.

“Baek, you might want to keep the junk food to a minimum or Chanyeol would leave you because of your fat .”

“Hah! Not a chance. Chanyeol loves this piece of y ,” Baekhyun sasses back.

“How could he love it if he hasn’t seen it in three years? It’s gotten quite big,” Sehun, who was lounging on the couch adjacent to theirs, throws back.

“Skype, duh. We have done a lot more than just talk over video calls,” Baekhyun grins smugly.

Minseok shoves Baekhyun’s face with a pillow. “No one needs to know details of the weird long distance thingy you do with Chanyeol over Skype.”

At this, Baekhyun feels pricked. It hit him of how pathetic it sounds – that he only gets to see the love of his life on some measly screen, not even able to touch him. Baekhyun knows his friend didn’t mean it in an insensitive way but it still hurts anyway.

Minseok must have realised how his words had hurt Baekhyun, considering how the latter was quiet all of a sudden. He squeezes Baekhyun’s hand.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean it that way.”

“It’s okay,” Baekhyun gives a smile, although it came out a little sad. Just then, Kris entered the room, hands laden with cans of Lager.

“Heads up, everyone!”

He goes down the row, handing every outstretched hand a drink. He purposely skips past Baekhyun’s though.

“None for you, baby,” Kris chides, slapping Baekhyun’s hand.

“What!? Who are you to deny me beer!?” Baekhyun throws Kris a scandalized look.

“I don’t want to have to deal with a drunk Baekhyun tonight. Besides, one of us has to be sober enough to make sure things don’t get too out of hand like it had during Jongin’s birthday party three years ago.”

“At least something good came out of it,” Jongin grins as he leans over the top of his boyfriend’s head to give him a peck on the lips. Sehun hooks his arms around Jongin’s neck, just as the latter was about to pull away, deepening the kiss. Baekhyun sighs longingly at the scene. He turns to see that Kris has walked over to his own boyfriend, sitting on the floor against the other couch with Zitao’s head in his lap. Oh, how he wished he could do all those things. But fate wasn’t kind; Chanyeol was still miles away and though they weren’t officially together, they practically acted like they were in a relationship. It wasn’t like he wanted to do it with anyone else, either.

In the last three years, phone texts were exchanged on a daily basis, there was the occasional four hour long phone call, and the video call sessions that were done every weekend.

Baekhyun shifts his attention to Minseok who keeps his eyes fixed on the tv screen, “Don’t look at me. I’m not gay and I have a girlfriend.”

“Relax! I wasn’t going to make a move on you just because we’re surrounded by lovey-dovey couples, jeez.” Baekhyun throws his hands in the air as Minseok laughs.

The movie ended an hour later, and by then, though they weren’t drunk, most of them were slightly tipsy. But their fortnightly movie nights weren’t complete without a game of any sorts.

“What should we play today?” Sehun asks from Jongin’s arms.

“How about Call or Delete?” Minseok suggests.

There was a general consensus as everyone whipped their phones out. Baekhyun was a little hesitant because the last time he played the game, he ended up drunk dialing his ex-boyfriend. Though they were on great terms now, that night had been rough.

The first round they played, Sehun had to call his mum. He ended up having a long chat with his mum who accidentally disclosed the fact that Sehun was taking yoga classes over the speakers. Of course, the old lady hadn’t known that there were five other people in the background trying to keep their laughter in.

Next was Minseok who decided he would delete his Aunt Jung-ah’s number, claiming that he never really liked the old bat anyway.

Finally it was Baekhyun’s turn. Baekhyun brushes away the thought that history would repeat itself, knowing it would be funny if it actually did.

Turns out, fate loves playing with him, because when he opened his eyes, he found himself staring at Park Dobby <3.

“Ah, this isn’t fun anymore! Of course he’s going to call him!” Jongin whines.

Baekhyun gives a smug grin before pressing the Call button without a hesitation, earning groans from everyone in the room.

“I’m warning you, we could talk for hours,” Baekhyun says as he waits for the call to be connected.

“BYUNBAEK!”

Baekhyun giggled as everyone cringed at the echo-y loudness. Chanyeol’s tone was cheerful it was almost sickening to the others.

“Chan, we’re playing Call or Delete,” Baekhyun informs the other.

“Ah, you are? Did you get my number again?” His deep chuckle causes Baekhyun to squeal internally. He could never get tired of the man’s voice. It was the thing he looked forward to on most nights when they’d have their phone calls. There was the faint sound of the engine of a car in the background, which probably meant that he was in a moving vehicle.

“Yeah, I did! Anyway, where are you?”

“I… uh…”

Just then, there was the unmistakable shrill sound of a lady’s cry, “Chanyeollie oppa!”

Baekhyun blinks dumbly at the phone in his hands as a hush falls over the room. He isn’t able to stop himself from thinking the worst, that Chanyeol is in the company of a woman who has taken his place. Now that he comes to think about it, Chanyeol had been pretty distant lately. He hadn’t been returning his calls, and their Skype sessions were always cut off. Baekhyun had convinced himself that Chanyeol was probably just busy with work but he couldn’t deny that he has had that nagging feeling in the back of his mind that the latter has found someone new.

It seems that the phone call had just proved his suspicions right.

Before he has a chance to break down from the reality, however, he gathers himself and forces a smile.

“Ah, you’re on a date?” Baekhyun lets out an awfully fake laugh. “Sorry for disturbing you, then! I’ll just talk to you later. Bye~”

Baekhyun hastily ends the call, ignoring Chanyeol’s pleas of “wait!” He throws the phone onto the table and flashes a tight-lipped smile to everyone.

“So, whose turn is it next?” He chirps, hating the fact that everyone was giving him a sympathetic look. He didn’t want to be pitied. He should have seen this coming. It was inevitable that Chanyeol would move on before he did.

“I think that’s enough for today. We should all head back home for the night,” Kris declares, sharing knowing looks with the rest. Baekhyun was kind of glad the blonde suggested it, because he doesn’t think he can hold his emotions in for any longer. He just wants to be alone and wallow in self-pity.

“Do you want me to drive you home?” Baekhyun asks Kris and Tao, since Minseok was going to meet up with his girlfriend.

“Oh, no, it’s fine. We’ll take a cab.” Kris avoids Baekhyun’s gaze as he looks to Sehun who quickly whips his phone out and goes into his bedroom to make an urgent call.

Kris and Tao, along with Minseok, left first, leaving Jongin and Baekhyun alone in the room.

“I guess I should get going too,” Baekhyun announces, standing up from the couch.

“Wait!” Jongin quickly goes halt him.

“What is it?” Baekhyun asks, annoyed. He really just needed to be alone right now.

“Sehun and I need to, uh, run some errands and we need you to… ah… look over the apartment for a while.”

“Whatever for?” Baekhyun narrows his eyes at his friend questioningly.

“We’re expecting someone, but both Sehun and I need to go somewhere. We need you to welcome him when he arrives. Just to let him in, you know.”

Considering that he was going to be alone, anyway, Baekhyun agrees without any further questions though the situation seemed really weird.

The couple left soon after as Baekhyun curled into a ball on the couch, using his hands as a pillow. Baekhyun realises that the silence was really bad company when he was feeling down because it left him room to think about the phone call to his ex-boyfriend earlier on. He wasn’t going to cry, though, because he had been expecting it. At least Chanyeol was happy with someone who could be there for him, not someone like Baekhyun who can’t even be there to greet him at home after a long and tired day at work.

Baekhyun lets out a defeated sigh as he closes his eyes, willing for his mind to stop thinking of Chanyeol.

Just as he was about to doze off, the doorbell rang. Grumbling, he gets up to see who it was, thinking it’s probably the person Jongin and Sehun were expecting. When he looks through the peephole, he sees no one but a huge bouquet of flowers on the doormat. He opens the door and takes a glance around, seeing that the hallway was empty and dead quiet. He picks up the bouquet of flowers and turns around to go back inside.

Almost suddenly, Baekhyun feels an arm wrapping itself around his torso from behind as a hand moves to cover his mouth. His first instinct was thrash around in the strong hold and unknowingly, his eyes starts to water from his efforts.

The intruder only tightens his hold, not saying a word since he attacked. Baekhyun didn’t want to go this way. He didn’t want to die this way.

Using the strength he has left in him, he elbows the intruder in the ribs, earning himself a loud groan from the other. Baekhyun swiftly whirls around on the heels of his feet and lands a good hook to his face, getting him on his cheek.

It’s not until the intruder stumbles backward from the force of the blow to his face that Baekhyun finally gets a good look at who it was.

“CHANYEOL!?”

To say he was surprised was an understatement. Baekhyun stares wide eyed at the tall man before him, not really believing what he was seeing. Chanyeol rubs at his sore cheek; a purplish bruise rapidly forming where Baekhyun had punched him.

“You pack a good punch for someone so small,” is the first thing Chanyeol says as a greeting. A slow smile spreads across his face as he holds the other’s gaze. “But that’s a good thing. At least I know you’ve been taking good care of yourself.”

Without thinking, Baekhyun jumps forward and wraps his arms around the younger’s torso with the bouquet of flowers still in his hands. He starts sobbing dryly into Chanyeol’s chest, mumbling incoherently, something about Chanyeol being an .

Chanyeol mumbles apologies into Baekhyun’s hair as he holds him, chuckling lightly at the same time.

It was minutes later when Baekhyun finally pulls away, rubbing at the pooling tears in his eyes.

“What are you doing here!?” Baekhyun demands.

“I got in this morning,” Chanyeol explains, ruffling Baekhyun’s hair. It’s been awhile.

“And you didn’t bother telling me over the phone earlier when I called you?”

“I’m surprised you’re so dense. When you called me, the tone wasn’t an overseas one, was it?”

Baekhyun smiles sheepishly at the realisation.

“No…” Talking about the phone call, Baekhyun suddenly remembers how and why it had been cut abrupt.

He hesitates for a moment before he asks the dreaded question, “Aren’t you busy? With your date?”

Surprise flashes across Chanyeol’s face before it contorts into a look of amusement.

“My date? Baekhyun, that wasn’t any girl you heard over the phone. It was my younger cousin. My family threw me a small welcoming home party and a few of my relatives were there. I’m surprised you think so, because you know I’ve always been gay.”

“I wasn’t thinking…”

Happiness and a strange sense of relief washes over Baekhyun as he tries his best to keep his smile. He lifts the bouquet of flowers in his hand in front of Chanyeol’s face.

“Are these from you?” He peers over the flowers.

“Why don’t you find out?” Chanyeol flashes a smile, nodding towards the card wedged in between a few white lilies. Baekhyun takes the card in between his fingers in excitement as he opens it to read what’s written inside.

I came back with your heart intact.

“That’s really cheesy, but are you really back… for good?” Baekhyun looks to the other expectantly.

Chanyeol nods yet again before taking a step forward, still holding Baekhyun’s gaze. Baekhyun takes in the sight before him; Chanyeol looking mighty fine in a button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and a pair of nicely fitted jeans. His hair falls perfectly at all the right places and his smile is the same lopsided grin that makes Baekhyun smile giddily.

“The flowers aren’t the only thing. I’ve got something else for you,” Chanyeol snaps out of his daze and retrieves something small from the pocket of his jeans.

He hides the thing in the palm of his hand as he takes Baekhyun’s left hand in his own.

“This is a really lame time and setting to do this, but I can’t wait any longer. Three years is too long,” Chanyeol says, “Now, close your eyes.”

Baekhyun was confused but he does as told. The moment he feels something slipping into his ring finger, his heart beat quickens and his breath gets caught.

“Baek, I need you to open your eyes.”

This time, Baekhyun was hesitant on following Chanyeol’s orders. Unknowingly, he starts babbling nonsense. Nothing he was saying was making sense but he couldn’t find the right words to explain his emotions.

Instead, he feels a pair of soft lips meeting his. He responds by kissing back fervently, wrapping his arms around the taller man’s neck, pulling him in closer. Chanyeol’s hands find their way on either side of Baekhyun’s waist, right where they’re meant to be.

The kiss lasted for a good amount of time but remained sweet nonetheless. When they pulled away, Baekhyun finally opens his eyes to stare right into Chanyeol’s glossy ones.

God, I’ve missed you so much. You have no idea how much I wanted to do that,” Chanyeol says huskily, rubbing circles into Baekhyun’s waist.

“As much as I enjoyed our Skype sessions, nothing beats this. You here, with me,” Baekhyun replies in a voice that’s barely above a whisper. He unlocks his left arm from around the younger’s neck and holds the hand up, admiring the ring that has a single diamond embedded in the middle.

“What’s this ring for?” Baekhyun asks teasingly, Though he knows what it means, he really wants Chanyeol to say it aloud.

“I want you to marry me, of course! Silly boy.” Chanyeol leaves butterfly kisses all over Baekhyun’s face as the latter closes his eyes at the sensation. Both were unable to wipe the grin off their faces.

“I haven’t said yes,” Baekhyun teases yet again, earning a groan from the other. “What’s in it for me?”

“I could show you what you’ll be signing up for,” Chanyeol says with a glint of mischief in his eyes. He captures Bakehyun’s lips in a kiss that’s much rougher than the previous this time, a hand moving to the back of the latter’s head.

Baekhyun is left breathless by the time Chanyeol breaks the kiss, but he should have known that the latter was far from done. He finds himself being lifted off the ground by the waist and he instinctively wraps his legs around Chanyeol’s torso to balance himself up. Chanyeol kisses him for the third time that night as he moves towards the couch in the middle of the room. The gesture is much softer and passionate this time, Chanyeol’s lips moving slowly against Baekhyun’s as if savouring the moment.

They stay lip locked as Chanyeol carefully sets the other on his back on the couch and goes to hover over the smaller form.

“Oh, god, this is really happening,” Baekhyun breathes when Chanyeol’s lips leaves his as he feels a cold hand running up and down the comparatively warmer skin of his body under his shirt.

Chanyeol chuckles in response and flicks a , earning himself a soft moan from the other. His lips travel down to the exposed skin of Baekhyun’s neck and starts leaving small kisses all over. When he reaches the defined collarbone, he on the skin lightly as Baekhyun bucks his hips up to create some sort of friction in his lower region.

Understanding just what Baekhyun wants, Chanyeol reaches down to the zip of Baekhyun’s tight jeans and starts fumbling with it.

“Wait, wait…” Baekhyun says in between pants.

“I’ve been waiting for three years,” Chanyeol groans as he continues to leave hickeys all over Baekhyun’s neck.

“But, we can’t—,” Baekhyun is cut off by a moan as Chanyeol found the sensitive spot the side of his neck.

Baekhyun takes a quick breath and cradles Chanyeol’s face in his hands, bringing their foreheads together as he looks into Chanyeol’s distracted eyes.

“We can’t do it here, Sehun will kill us,” Baekhyun says seriously. He caresses the purplish bruise from his earlier punch on Chanyeol's cheekbone as the latter winces as the touch.

“Ah, Sehun.” Chanyeol growls before continuing his ministrations on Baekhyun’s neck and his jeans.

“This is so much better than Skype ,” Baekhyun giggles, thinking about all the phone and s over video calls they’ve had to relief their ual frustrations.

Chanyeol ends up giving Baekhyun the best of his life – on Sehun’s white couch. Needless to say, Sehun was fuming when he got back to see the reunited couple cuddling on the couch with stains on the bloody sofa. Jongin couldn’t help but stifle his laughter as he watched his boyfriend going all ape on the couple who couldn’t seem to give a crap about it; Baekhyun continued to nuzzle into Chanyeol’s chest as the latter smiled up lazily at a raging Sehun.

But all his anger had dissipated when Baekhyun held his hand up to show a stunning 2k Carat engagement ring that glimmered magnificently in the light.

Baekhyun and Chanyeol went for three rounds of much awaited when they got back to the older’s apartment, despite it being one in the morning.

Afterwards, when there was nothing but lingering touches and heavy breathing, the both of them lay in bed with hands intertwined, catching their breaths.

Baekhyun is the first to make a move, pulling the covers over them and then moving in to snuggle closer to his fiancé. Chanyeol wraps a protective arm around Baekhyun and presses a kiss to his temple. It’s dark, and neither could see each other, but both knew there was a blissful smile on the other’s face.
