Synergy
Heechul knows he needs to do something. Something for his beloved dongsaeng. Two of
them actually. They don't know the fact that he has been a confidant to the two. The fact that
these two pour out their hearts' miserable content at the same time. About each other.
Maybe they are used to it ever since they were young to talk to him about just everything.
They are so dear to him that not even a lawsuit can stand in the way between him and the
older of the two.
Speaking of lawsuit that's when everything starts to crumble between these two favourite of
his whom he treats just like real brother and sister.
He was there for them from the beginning of time and seeing how things are now it really left
an unsettled feeling in his heart.
Who are they anyway? Well..she is a sister, a best friend and one whom he considers as the
female version of him. She was the only one brave enough to approach him when he first
started out in SM. She was the one who taught him how to play Fur Elise on piano. Yes, she
is Jessica Jung.
While the other one is a close, close buddy from back then. He joined the
company around the same time as him. He was weird just like him. What's more he was the
one who ate(stole, really) his burger. He is definitely his only rival in the looks department.
Who else if it isn't Kim Jaejoong.
So what is it with Kim Jaejoong and Jessica Jung? The story of this two, beside them, only
Kim Heechul knows better than anyone.
"Ya Kim Heechul! Are you even listening? I'm tired. TIRED. Okay. Aggh. Whatever. Just play
however you want. I just don't care."
He was carelessly and playfully pressing the piano. Why is Fur Elise so hard? Irregardless of
the serious Jessica teaching him, he just couldn't get it easily. So, being bored and hungry, he
mindlessly just pressed whatever he wanted. Beside him, his young teacher heaved a sigh.
Telling him that she has given up.
He smiled when he thought about it. Of course he knows how to play Fur Elise now. Thanks
to the persistent teacher he had. Or thanks to his awesome blackmailing, no, persuading
talent.
"Come one, Sickal-ya! Teach me. I have to show it for our talent showcase this weekend."
Heechul consistently approached Jessica despite her refusal.
"You are so stubborn. I can't teach people like you, oppa. Do you want me to have high blood
pressure?" The young Jessica refused for the umpteenth time.
"You will teach me, young girl. Or else..." He smirked as an idea just strucked him.
Jessica glared at him like she usually did when she's pissed. Any other time he would run but
not today. He has a winning card with him.
"I'll tell everyone that you like J.." She covered his mouth using her hand.
"Ughh. You.. I hate you! Why do I even tell you in the first place?" She whined. "Fine! Later
after my dance class." Then she left but not before kicking his leg. Aish that kid!
How silly were they back then. Jessica never knew that he would never spilled her secret to
anyone. It was just for his personal gain.
Speaking of silliness, he couldn't believe he actually fought over a burger before.
Hungry and tired, Heechul remembered his burger that he bought earlier. With the energy he
had left he went to the common room and grab his bag. The thought of having the
burger...wait! Where is the damn burger. His patience decreasing. Blame it on hunger. Then
he saw a note.
hyung.. sorry. I was very hungry so I ate your burger.
I will pay you back.
thank you, hyung.
He couldn't believe what he just read. Who in the world dare to take his burger. His precious
burger. No one mess with hungry Kim Heechul!
"Yaaaa! Who stole my burger?" He literally exploded. Everyone in that room keep shaking
their heads and denying all at once.
"Not me." "Me neither." "I think I saw Jaejoong hyung..."
Jaejoong? My quick ear catch the name. You are gonna pay for this!
Well, just leave it there. The rest is too inappropriate and contain too much violence.
Moving on to few months after that, he was teamed up with Jaejoong, Yunho and Kangin. The
group was named Four Seasons. Yeah, lame. Basically, the group is a mess as you can tell.
Jaejoong and him are too attention loving, Kangin is too crazy while Yunho, the maknae, is
too serious. So you can expect fights and quarrel every now and then, everytime actually.
He also realised that Jaejoong was always extra competitive with him. Tsk that kid. Of course
Heechul knew the reason.
"You know what? I have yet to receive a burger from you."
Jaejoong looked at me confuse. It was a free afternoon for us so we decided to just relax.
"I still remember that you stole my burger."
"Ahhh...But hyung. I didn't steal it. I left you a note right?"
"What note? That was after you took my burger without permission. I was super hungry okay!"
"Hyung, come on. That was few months ago. You should just forgive and forget. Besides, we
are best friend."
"No we are not. Fine if you don't want to pay me back. It's not like I am that desperate. Owh..
when the girls are here you need to stop staring. It's obvious."
"What are you..."
Before he even finished, a group of girls happily chatting came in. Jaejoong automatically laid
his eyes on them, one of them specifically.
"See what I mean. Sica yaaa--" Heechul started to call out. However Jaejoong grabbed his
arm and pulled him away out of the room. "Let's have some burgers hyung. You're hungry,
right?"
Off they went. Jessica just eyed the two boys curiously. Especially on the younger one.
Heechul sighed. Those two were crazy. Crazily oblivious. Even now the two are still just as
crazy.
Jessica smiled at him weakly and walked past him. He wasn't sure of the exact reason but he
had a faint idea of what might be behind it. Just few weeks ago, he heard her talking, more
like crying, to her phone.
It was few months after the lawsuit happened, things were hard for his two dongsaengs. Him
because of the contract, his group, concerts and her because of her promotions, musicals and
all. So the lawsuit is such a huge blow.
Heechul knew that they tried to keep their personal affair separate but somehow everything is
just interconnected.
That is why he would do everything to keep his favourite sister happy and tried to be by her
side whenever they are together.
That night when SNSD won Digital Daesang and Jessica couldn't stop crying he stayed
nearby her.
"It's okay Jessica. Winning is a happy moment right?" He consoled her. "Aja. Stop crying
now."
"Oppa, he won't be there to celebrate with us." Heechul knew exactly what she meant. So he
let her cried. Maybe that will make her feel better. He continued to stand by her.
It pained him whenever he remembered that. He feel like scolding Jaejoong just to make him
feel better. But then he couldn't. He knows that the younger man has his fair share of misery,
too.
He was riding on an Audi sport car owned by Jaejoong. Yeah, they have been meeting
frequently. Who cares about stupid lawsuit. Friends will always be friends.
He likes to think that Jaejoong just loves him a lot that he constantly annoyed him with his
heartbroken stories.
Today, is one of that days. He was grabbed out of his own will and before he knows it, there
he is in the car.
"Hyung.. should we go to Han River? Or do you want to come over and have a drink at my
place? Or maybe we can do outdoor or something."
"Stop it." Heechul simply said. Jaejoong looked towards him.
"Fine."
"So what is it now? Another sad love story?"
"Emm."
"Aigoo.. I don't get you. What else to talk about. You've basically said everything and repeat
the whole all over for so many times."
"I.. " Jaejoong sighed heavily. "Just want to talk about her."
"No silly. You don't want to talk ABOUT her. You want to talk TO her."
"Hyung.."
"Listen. It's been what two years? Go and call her. Patch things up."
"I can't. I have no rights to do that. I hurt her hyung. I'll just make her sad. She seems happy
now."
Heechul shook his head. "So by talking about her what do you expect to happen?"
Stupid couple. How can they worried the great Kim Heechul and live. He should be worrying
about his life instead. But no. Those two kids just won't leave him alone. If it's not the
heart-broken Jaejoong, it's the pretentiously strong Jessica. He doesn't even know which one
is worse of the two.
"Miss Ice Princess Jung Jessica. Will you stop for a while?"
The girl was talking non-stop of how she is so busy with photoshoots, musicals, promotions
and flying in and out of the country that she barely rest. How is she even there in his dorm is
surprising. It's one of the rare day that this dongsaeng comes and visit him.
If he didn't know any better he would appreciate that. Of course she isn't just visiting. Heechul
can tell that.
"Why are you here? Stop recounting all your schedules to me. I am not your manager."
Jessica looked at him and then pout. He rolled his eyes.
"Spill it out, honey."
"How is he?"
Heechul smiled. "He?" He purposely sound confused.
"I know you guys met each other. Is he okay?" Now she sounded annoyed.
"Well.. he is just fine."
"Okay then. That's good."
"How about you? Are you okay?"
"What? I am always okay."
"Yeah.. right. Don't come to me drunk whining about your hurting heart next time."
"Oppa! Ughh."
See. Why is he trapped in between the two together with all their love problems. He almost
regretted the day he helped them get together years and years ago.
"Remember, tonight at the rooftop. Okay?"
"Yes oppa. I got it. You've been telling me aaaalllll day. I'm not that forgetful, you know."
"Right. See you later. Gotta go. Rooftop.. tonight.. don't be late.." Heechul keeps on saying to
Jessica on his way out. Jessica just rolled her eyes while shaking her head.
It was that night. 10 years ago. A night he can never forget. For sure neither can the other
two.
"Jaejoong, umm can you help me take my phone at the rooftop. I think I left it there."
"Hyung.. can't you go yourself?" The younger one seem reluctant.
"I have to go and see seonsaengnim now. Please. Can't you help hyung?" He begged.
"Aish. Fine. I'll go." At last the younger one agreed.
Weakly, Jaejoong headed to the rooftop. Not too far behind, Heechul followed secretly. When
Jaejoong reached the rooftop, Heechul quickly locked the door that Jaejoong went through.
"Yes!" He smirked and gesture his fist as if he was celebrating. "Now, sort it out you two!" He
then walked away but not before he placed an out of order sign by the door.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the door, two teenagers of the opposite genders have
absolutely no idea what had been going on.
Jessica heard the door slammed. "There you are, oppa!" She exclaimed. "You told me not to
be late but you ar-" She stopped halfway. She became shocked when she found out it wasn't
Heechul. "Oh..It's you.."
"Sica.. what are you doing here? Alone?" The other person, also shocked, asked her.
"Uumm..Actually.. Heechul oppa.. wait. What are you doing here, oppa?" In response, she
asked that person back.
"I... Hyung asked me to pick his phone.."
"Hyung? You mean Heechul oppa?"
"Um yess.. why?"
"Tskk. That person! I'm gonna kill him!"
"What's going on here, Sica?"
"First, let's get out of here. And then find that Kim Heechul!"
"Arasso.." That person agreed and headed back to the door. When he tried to turn the knob,
he stopped on the spot and turned towards Jessica. He looked worried.
"Why? Is something wrong?" Jessica asked. When she didn't get any response, she get to the
door herself and tried opening it. "Kim.. Hee.. Chul!! He is gonna pay for this."
"What are we gonna do now?" The other person asked. "Why don't you try calling someone."
"I can't. I left my phone in the dance room."
"Heol. That means we are trapped here!"
"Ani..oppa. Don't worry. They always come up here right. So let's just wait for now." Jessica
said trying to cheer the other person.
"Do you think Heechul hyung did this on purpose? If yes then it's my fault." He said the last
part quite faintly so that Jessica couldn't catch it.
However, she heard it. "I'm sure he did it. Don't worry. It isn't your fault. Why would it be?"
Jessica assured him.
"He.. he.. yeah. You are right. It isn't our fault. I mean especially not yours."
Jessica smiled. "Umm maybe it's my fault." She said quietly.
"Eh.. what?"
Jessica suddenly looked at the other person beside her. "Actually, I think I know why Heechul
oppa did this."
He looked at her surprised. "You.. you know? Buut.. how?"
"It's because.. I.. umm.. you.. Actually.."
"So he told you?" He asked.
Jessica looked at him confused. "What?"
"You said you knew.. that means he told you? "
"Told me? No I mean.. I think why Heechul oppa did this is because I.." She took a very deep
breath. "I like you Jaejoong oppa!"
"I like you Sica!"
Silent. Both of them seem lost for a moment. Not sure of what had just been said and heard.
They only looked at each other.
After what seem like eternity, they found their voice and sanity back.
"Oppa.."
"Sica.."
"You.."
"You.."
Then without knowing, they both laughed at each other.
"You go first.."
"Oppa, you first."
"So.. what you have just said?"
Jessica smiled shyly and nodded. "And you?"
"Yes."
Again, they continued to laugh. Maybe, being locked outside on the open rooftop isn't that bad
at all.
Hah! Heechul can still remember the next day he saw the two kids. How they are smiling,
staring and all. Confusing everyone around them. Of course, the two didn't forget to corner
him. Tsk. After what he have done, he thought he deserve at least a treat.
Thinking about it makes him think of their current situation. Does he need to do the same
thing again??

"Seriously, why can't you just contact her. I am SURE she wants to see you too!" Heechul,
annoyed, tried to convince his younger dongsaeng. "I am not gonna listen to you talking
gibberish anymore."
"H..hy..ung~ I'm sorry.. I won't do this again~ I..I.. proooomi..ss~" The younger one smiled and
then a second later started sobbing..again. "Hyunggg.. I miss her.. Sica.. Uri Sooyeon..
Boogooshipoo~ This two years.. hyung.. were hard.. lonely.. hu hu hu.."
Heechul rolled his eyes. "Arghh I am so done with you. Drunk and broken hearted. What do I
do with you?"
He shook his head. Yup. He definitely need to do something. or else who knows what
nonsense will the younger man do. So he took his phone and dialled a number.
"Hello.. Sica-ya~~...."

It was snowing this morning and Jessica has to go out for a walk. It's all because of Heechul.
So she walk the street from her house to the park nearby where Heechul said they will meet.
As she arrived the older man isn't there yet so she called him. "Ya! Kim Heechul.. Where
the---"
She stopped midway because a figure not too far away surprised her. A tall man with a pale
complexion just arrived at the park. She actually wanted to turn away but then Heechul's
voice from the other end of the call prevented her.
"You stay there Miss Jung. Stay and meet him. I'm gonna smack you if you run. You know it
yourself that you wanna meet him. Okay! Bye."
Heechul cut off the call. Jessica was so speechless that she can't even swear at him like she
usually would do. In fact she just stand there like a motionless statue looking at the familiar
figure in front of her.
It seems the man was looking for someone and hasn't noticed the presence of Jessica there.
His phone began to ring and he accepted the call. "Ohh hyung. Where are you? I am here."
"Look straight. You will see someone."
"Straight.. Nugu? I don't see---" He also stopped midway like what Jessica did earlier. "That.. "
"Yes... That's right! Now go and talk. Just settle everything between you two. Reconcile! If not
I'm gonna kill you! Bye"
"Hyung!"

As they began to understand the situation and has settled down, the two sat down on the
bench at the rooftop overlooking the night of Seoul.
Now that they knew each other feeling they were shy yet happy at the same time. Both were
busy trying to create good warm words to say to the other.
"Sica.."
"Oppa.."
"You first.."
"Oppa say it."
They laughed at the silly situation. So Jaejoong took the first step.
"I..don't..I mean how? Umm..why? You know? I am..Uhh."
Jessica looked at Jaejoong who had gone red by then. She laughed at him.
"How? Why? Well.. Just because." She smiled sweetly. "How about you, oppa?"
"Just because.."
Again, the two laughed. Suddenly, Jaejoong courageously said to Jessica, "Do you want to go
out with me? Let's date." As he finished, he began to realise the sudden bravery of an act. He
widened his eyes.
Likewise, Jessica looked at him after the unexpected proposal surprisingly. Not too long
before she smiled and nodded his head.
"Okay, oppa."
"Ookay?"
"Yes, Okay. Let's date."
He was amazed by her straightforward attitude that he got too excited and grab her hands.
"Sure? Thank you, Sica."
"Sure, oppa. And..." She signalled to their holding hands. He was shocked as if he didn't
realize it and immediately wanted to let go.
However, Jessica tightened her grip. "And.. you won't let go of this and will hold it tight always,
right?"
"Right."
So Jessica locked their fingers together. " Then..thank you, too, oppa."
She smiled at him and he her.
The fond memory of the past was flashing back as the two walk closer towards each other. Now
more than ever, that memory seem clearer, at the presence of each other.
At the same time, painful memories from the past couple of years seem to vanish somehow. They stopped a
couple of feet away from each other and stared. Unsure of what to do or say.
"You will not let go... and hold me tight.."
That distant memory strucked Jaejoong and he all of a sudden dropped down on his knees.
"I...Sorry. I am sorry. So sorry. All these time it was hard. So hard. I can't do this anymore. I
don't want to try to live without you. I...can't." He said it all. He didn't want to hold back
anymore. A lot of time has been wasted.
His manly tears fell as he uttered those words. "The thought of me loving you all by myself is
painful. You don't need to forgive me but I need you."
Jessica looked at the man breaking down before her. All this was too much for her mind and
especially her heart to take in. It seems surreal.
Slowly, she too fell on her knees. She wanted to calm him but instead she pounced her
small fists onto his chest. Angry? Frustrated? She isn't sure.
"Sorry? Hard?" She said softly. "I will not forgive you. I don't want to forgive you." Now her
tears began to fall as well. "Never as long as you can't be without me. As long as you love
me. Never." She stopped punching him.
"Because, oppa, I love you more. As much as you can't try to live without me, I never even
try." She grabbed his hand and wiped his tears. "So, don't ask for my forgiveness."
"Sica.."
"Oppa was my first love... And my last.. That's my choice."
Hearing that Jaejoong pulled her and hugged her tight and long. As tight as how much he
missed her. As long as how much he needed her.
"I will be responsible for that. I will make it up to you. I will... Just as long as you are with me. I
will never again let go of you. I will be there when abeoji walk you down the aisle and hand
you over. I will hold you tight. So tight. Marry me?"
"Let's date."
That feeling. Still.. that same feeling from that night. So she hugged him back. Even after so many years, still..
it was him. Most importantly, still they were the same people in love with each other.

"I love that smile the most." He told her.
"Really? I will keep this smile always." She said.
As he slipped in the ring on her finger, she smiled the loveliest he has ever seen.
"I like you holding me this tight." She told him.
"I will hold you tighter as time goes by." He said.
Just as they were pronounced each other significant other, he kissed her and locked their
fingers the tightest he has ever done.

"So we have just received a very happy news from the hallyu couple Kim Jaejoong and his
wife Jessica Jung.. This morning they welcomed their second child and it is a baby boy. Their
three year old daughter would definitely be happy to have her brother now. Congratulations to
the Kim family..."
Heechul was watching the news in his apartment. He smiled to himself. Satisfied. Proud. Yes.
He definitely is whenever he sees the two. Two dongsaengs he loves so much.

"I, Kim Jaejoong, vow to always look after Jessica Jung, vow to always care for her, vow to
always support her, vow to always share her dreams and aspirations, vow to always
cherished her and last but never the least, vow to always love her with all my heart... I vow to
never again let go of her... forever."
Everyone attending the wedding was listening in envy as the groom recited his wedding vow.
Heechul smiled because he more than anyone understand perfectly how much Jaejoong
meant what he has just said.
The bride shed her tears as her man recited his vow. When it is her turn, she was too
overwhelmed that tears just couldn't stop flowing. She has been so strong all the time when it
was painful but on this happy day she cried. She cried recalling all those time. She cried because it
was worth going through as a day like this eventually happened. So in tears she recited her
vow.
"I, Jessica Jung, vow to... always treasure.. Kim Jaejoong, vow to... always dedicate my time
for his well being, vow to... always give my utmost support to him, vow to... always share his
dreams and aspirations, vow to... always love him in health, sickness, happiness, sadness
and love him just the way he is... I vow to hold him tight and not let go... forever."
As she finished, she totally just broke down. The audience was amazed and surprised at how
touching and how much she cried. Heechul, however, understand her. She was always so
strong and always tried not to show her pain. So Heechul knows that Jessica was truly
grateful.
Jaejoong smiled as Jessica shed her tears. He tightened his grip on her and look into her
eyes. Jessica look at his eyes back. "Saranghae. I am happy." Their eyes were saying.
