01. Just A Start

Note To God

She arrived in front of the door, still concern if she could bear to hear the bad results again. She had heard it many times, since when she was little, so it didn’t really help to make her feel better even if she thinks positive about it, because she knew that the result wouldn’t change. Her weak self tells her to knock the door but her weighing mind just doesn’t let her give in a move. She sighs deeply and exhales for the last minute, ready to knock to the door. But before she could, she heard someone calling her name from behind,

“Miss Lee Jieun, you’re here for your checkups this year.” He said with a smile but wasn’t to please to see her again for a specific reason. He also, was one out of all people who feels sorry for Jieun. She lost her parents when she was at a very young age. She, herself was sent to the orphanage and live lonely as a girl, without friends or people to talk with.  She was always that girl who is known as quiet, till now. Not only having to be lonely, but she also has to suffer from treatments. Her illness was a rare type that can’t be cure. Neither she, nor the doctor can estimate when she’ll die. It can be today or tomorrow, but who knows? Right at that moment, when Doctor Kim was holding her report about her condition, he made a heavy sigh, looking rather tired and worried.

“The result doesn’t seem to look better than last year, but worsen.” Doctor Kim informed. Jieun lower her head knowing what he meant. She doesn’t have much time left. She knew that she’ll be away from this universe, and far, far away somewhere where no one knows where she’ll exist again. The only thing that makes her disappointed was that she didn’t get to complete her dreams yet, she didn’t even get to do the first move about it.  Feeling refresh, Jieun walked along the path, feeling only the wind against her face, blowing her long, brown hair backside. She once again thought about what the doctor had told her; those words running through her mind.  Jieun was distracted in the middle of her thoughts when she heard a beautiful melody; a voice singing with hopes and happiness. Suddenly, without knowing herself, she made her way to where the voice was found. The guy was holding a guitar on his lap, playing every strum of it. He was singing with people surrounded by him with big smiles on their face. Kids were running in excited and the adults were enjoying every bit of the lyrics while humming and whistling to every tune from the song. Jieun approach to the crowd and shyly squeeze to the front row.  She stares at the guy who was holding the guitar. Seeing him playing with passionate, she felt a little bit of hope and told herself,

“I shall not give up and complete my dreams before it is too late.” Softly, she hums to the sound of the guitar and silently smiles to herself. She knew what to do now. She knew what she wants and she knew that she’ll do anything to complete it before she doesn’t have much time. Not wanting to waste time, Jieun immediately headed to the Art school that she always dreamed to get in. Finally arriving at the front gate, she read the three words; the words and the place that she wanted to feel belonged and wanted. But that was not the main point. Jieun is someone who has a strong passionate about music. She dreams to be in the music industry since she was little. It was music that made her feel so belonging when she doesn’t have anyone to talk to nor play with. All she did was listening to music. Music is what expresses her emotions and feelings. Music can take her to the place where she wants to go. Music is something that can make her smile even though she knows deeply inside, that her mood was never switch on.

“May I please get the enrolment form for Kirin Art School?” She asked politely to the lady at the reception. The lady handed Jieun her form, and without a second thought, she found at seat and sat down to quickly fill out the form.  She took out her pen and jot down the answers from the simple questions that had been asked and been required. Jieun was about to fill in the last question but stopped. It said,

“When music is playing, what does it mean?” Jieun stopped her pen for a moment. She thought severely into the question.  Words are running through her head, spinning and spinning around. The lady at the reception noticed when Jieun had stopped writing, and silently gave a grin and then continue to do her documents. Finally coming up with an answer, Jieun wrote,

“When music is played, it means that the whole world is hearing it; for the happiness, and for the sadness. No matter if it is near you or not, it is always calm in your heart, for it is your voice that is making the sound.” She finished and then handed the form to the lady at the reception. She look very pleased with the last question that Jieun had answered, however, it weren’t going to be her who will accept her or not. It is the principle’s decision.  When Jieun was about to exit the school entrance, she accidently bumped into someone,

“I’m sorry.” Jieun quickly said and bow to the girl.

“It’s okay. It was my fault too.” Said the girl. Her voice was sweet and in her sound, there is a smile, and in her smile there is kindness. Jieun looked at her in astonishment. She never saw someone or anyone pretty as the girl in front of her right now. She has long brown her and light make up on her. She’s tall and is just perfect to be a mode,l and her look can just melt every single boy!

“I’m Bae Suji, but you can call me Suzy.” The girl introduces herself and asked for a handshake. Jieun shyly reply to the handshake and said,

“I’m Lee Jieun, you can call me IU or either just Jieun.” Jieun shyly, but sweetly replied and then walked off. Suzy was about to say something but then someone called her from behind. She felt a little strange. Was the girl scared of her? Or was she in a rush for something, that’s why she went away so quickly? Questions were flowing in her mind.

“Who was that Suzy?”

“Just someone that I just met. Let’s go to our vocal class now, all else we’ll be in trouble again, Eunjung.” And the both of them walked off. Before closing the school entrance door, Suzy turn behind once more and wondered about the girl that she had just met before.
