Those Who Were Once Brothers

Young, Wild and Free

What Jaekyung said, needless to mention, shocked me. I had always thought that friendship was a serious thing, but for fights severe enought to break trust and bonds... I didn't know those kinds of things happened. I mean, sure. Dramas are dramas and books shall remain as dramatic as the author wants it to be, but apparently like that happened in real life.

Jaekyung barged into the room I was staying in, locked the doors behind her and made sure no one was close to hear what she had to say. I remember thinking that it was weird that she had to fear anything in her own house, but later, I realised she had more at stake than I had originally thought.

"Listen Jen," she warned, her voice urgent. "What I'm going to say now is really important, so hear me out first before jumping to any conclusions okay?" I merely managed a nod for I was bewildered by how she sounded.

She took a deep breath and a slow smile crept on her face as she started the story. And for the sake of storytelling, I shall recount every single thing she said, word for word, quote for quote.

"B.I and Jr. used to be best friends; they were the kids everyone younger could look up to. They were the epitome of every mother's friend's son and they were inseperable. They did everything together, heck, they were the biggest troublemakers! How they got out of their mischief is still a wonder. They grew up and got into gangs, and needless to say they were the youngest ones to lead a handful of kids of almost the same age and still they managed to earn their own respective names in the underground scene. Now when I say underground, I mean the unknown, undiscovered hiphop scene, not the Russian mafia or anything. Their crew involved in everything; rap battles, dance battles, b-boying, everything. But I guess even the bestest of friends grow apart. Nobody knows what happened between those two, but suddenly it was a cold war. They didn't speak to each other and merely spared each other a glance. Even if they did say anything to each other, it'll just cause a brawl to spread, a fight big enough to get either of them sent to jail, even if triggered by a mere snide remark. B.I had his group, Winner and Jr. has his, GOT7. And out of the blue, the whole underground scene they had been in split into two. Every year, on a particular night, every crew out there gathers and have a bash; it's one night to show what they had learned, what new skill they possess. And every time, on those nights, it would have been a serious battle against Winner and GOT7. Don't ask me where they got those names- they make no sense to me either. They did not care about other crews, they were out for each other's blood and that was what they were going to get. I'm pretty sure they live by the hope of ripping each other's balls off."

She paused for a while, surely to let me process what she had said. Okay, so let me get this straight. A bunch of kids who thought they were so G, performed and fought over Lord only knows what. What was this? Another version of Avengers against each other?

"Wait, so why is this such a big deal?" I asked, getting confused by the moment. Why did Jaekyung say all this as if something was at staker? She sighed.

"You see, it's been a year since I've been with Minho and I don't regret it. What I regret is that the two people closest to me are are war. Jr. and I have been best friends since elemtary and practically grew up with each other. Jr. left for boarding school hence leaving me alone. And I was still a kid; made friends on the bad side of town and started doing . I then met Minho, and suddenly he pulled me out of that ugly phase. I was 19 when I met him. Then Jr. came back and I was still with Minho, and I didn't know who to choose. Minho was part of Winner and Jr. as you already know is with GOT7. Sometimes, I don't even know what to do with them."

"So, what you're saying is that you are scared because of two guys who are close to you? What kind of friends are they if they scare the bat out of you?" I asked, clearly blurting out my thoughts without a second glance.

"It's more than that, Jenie," she sighed, shaking her head. "It can't be explained by words."

"Then try," I insisted like the stubborn little I was. She was about to open to reply when the sound of something vibrating interrupted her. She fished out her phone from her pocket and glanced at the screen before putting it against her ear. Judging from the smile on her face, it was clear the person at the other end was Minho. They spoke for a while, and when they hung up, Jaekyung grinned at me, a secretive, mysterious smile on her face.

"And now, Little , you'll get to know everything about this culture," she said, getting up from the bed where she sat cross-legged and made her way to the door, resting her hand on the doorknob and turned back to me. "Tomorrow is the bash, and you're coming with me."

With that, she walked out of the room, and left me bewildered. I threw myself back against the soft mattress and sighed. Oh God, what had I gotten myself into?

Hey guys! So here is chapter 5!
And I hope this clears the coldness between B.I and Jr. And in case you are wondering, Jr. is not my bias in GOT7. It's Mark... I think. (Psh, I can't pick between them! T^T) But yes, Hanbin is my bias. Ultimate one bish!

Cheers,
Aly
