Tears of Blood

Description

Though Jaeseop is pushed to succeed, his secret getaway is the time he spends with her.  Sumin has her demons, but she feel whole again whenever she is with him.  In her world, he is the only thing that keeps her sane.  In his world, she is the reason he is able to endure.

Jaeseop and Sumin are in their final year of high school. Kim Jaeseop's parents, teachers, and peers all expect him to get into the top universities in Seoul, which requires that he push his already clever mind to study as much as possible.  The only way he endures the stress is by hanging out with his friends, especially a girl who he can't seem to take his mind off of.  Jang Sumin has changed since she returned from the year she spent in America with her family due to her father's temporary position as a professor at a university there.  She notices the change as much as anybody, but she doesn't believe in herself the way she once did.  Sumin believes in Jaeseop, though.  She just hopes that it will be enough.

Trigger Warning:  Depression, self harm, suicidal thoughts, and maybe a little bit of eating disorders.

Author's Note:  I don't want to trigger anybody, so please do not read this if you think it might adversly affect you.  I chose AJ from U-Kiss as the main character because he fit the picture I had in my mind, and I used his full name because I thought it worked better than his stage name. The other U-Kiss members will show up as the two protagonist's friends along with two original characters (Yerin and Nayoung).  I'll try to update this story regularly and finish it before I grow weary of the premise ^__^ kekeke.

Foreword

Jaeseop knocked softly on her door.  Hearing no answer, he shifted his text books to one arm and cautiously opened the door a crack, "Sumin, I'm coming in," he said, not seeing her on the bed.  As he took a few steps into her bedroom, he saw her sitting by her dresser on the floor, back to the door.  She had headphones in, explaining why she didn't hear him.

"Sumin," he said louder, causing her to startle and turn around.  Jaeseop gasped.  In her hand was a small piece of metal and her upper thigh was bleeding.

His mind felt like it was trying ot run through quicksand.  The wounds, they are self-inflicted?  She does this to herself?  She's sitting alone in her room, and hurting herself?  Jaeseop lowered himself to his knees and looked at her.

Sumin had torn out her headphones and was gazing at him in horror.  Her eyes were wide with fear.  What did he think of me now?  He must think I'm pathetic. Now he knows how horrible I am.  She glanced down at her handiwork, the blood was drying from her four sharp lines.  Tears that she wouldn't cry, tears that she wasn't worth.

Sumin looked back at Jaeseop, surprised that he was crying.  Silently, his eyes leaked and he wrung his hands in despair.  "Sumin," he said again, his voice barely a whisper.

She glared at him, "What?"   She was so angry at herself for letting this happen.  She should have done this in the bathroom, he didn't deserve to know her horrible secret.  Sumin grabbed the cloth which she had prepared and pressed it into her new cuts.

Jaeseop felt like his heart had suddenly been ripped out of his chest.  He saw her wince as she pushed the cloth down on her wounds.  She clenched her teeth but did not cry.  "Sumin," he whispered again, and came to her, wrapping her in his arms.

Sumin froze, unable to comprehend why he was hugging her.  "I'm sorry," Jaeseop said, squeezing her tighter.

She tried to push him away, "Why are you sorry? It's none of your business what I do!"  Sumin felt so horrible, she was a terrible person who was a burden to those around her.  She felt like crying, but she knew that no matter how sad she was, the she could only cry were tears of blood.
