Evanescent

Description

The first time he experienced the world, he had six brothers by his side. A few years after, he found that he was the only one left.

Foreword

Inspiration from class again, and since the English language allows for the personification of objects and ideas, why not give languages a face? I have a feeling they’re crying, too, losing their brothers and sisters in the hands of their own speakers.

Fact: About 2 languages die every month.

xinli_ang
How many languages will die today? How many tomorrow? They're just as endangered as plants and animals, actually even more so. >.

Chapter 7: Oh yeah, when Woohyun got angry at Sungyeol because his language had a lot of speakers, I thought of English and imperialism. For Sungjong I was thinking maybe an indigenous language of the Americas.

I liked the concept a lot, and I think you did a good job with it. Almost makes me wish I'd thought of it myself. xD

Chapter 4: I was wondering whether Woohyun and Sungyeol would become the same person if their languages converged like that...

Chapter 3: There was a time when my dad wasn't allowed to speak Taiwanese in school. He had to speak Mandarin. School is taught in Mandarin still. It seems like the younger generation of Taiwanese, especially those who grew up in urban areas, don't speak Taiwanese as much.

Chapter 2: Noooo...Sungjong and Hoya. D: It's so sad when languages go extinct. It's not just a language but also part of a culture that's lost. :/

Chapter 1: I love this idea, personifying the languages of the world. Sunggyu would be a language where there are case markers, so word order isn't important. Dongwoo reminds me of Xhosa. Woohyun would be one of the Inuit languages. Myungsoo is like what you talked about in Fisherman's Register. Don't really know about the others.
