Prologue:

The young lady leaned against her seat and looked at the papers right in front of her. A group of teenagers who seemed to be around eighteen or nineteen years old had knocked on the door of her villa and they had asked her for help. They were lost after searching for the correct campsite and it was late at night. Since they were not comfortable sleeping in the car that they were in, they decided to knock on her villa to sleep in it just for one night.

They did not know that staying in her villa just for one night would be the worst decision ever.

It was their worst mistake.

For she surely would not let them stay for free, would she?

She needed them to be a part of her experiment, anyway.

“Qian-ah,” a voice called out her name and she looked up into her boyfriend’s eyes. Zhou Mi was a handsome young man who had always stuck by her side and was always there when she needed him. She loved him and would love him all over again if they were to meet in their next lives.

Zhou Mi understood her. He knew what she was planning and he did not judge her. Instead, he supported her and would always support her no matter what.

“Are the teenagers eating, right now?” she asked, smiling at him.

The young man nodded. “Yes, they are,” he answered. “What are you going to do with them, Qian-ah?”

A smirk filled with malice etched itself on her lips. “I’m going to do one of my experiments on them. I’m curious, Mi-ah. Between all of them dying and all of them voting for one person in their group of friends to die a horrifying death, which one do you think will they choose?” she asked inquisitively.

Laughter escaped the young man’s lips. “What do you think, Qian-ah?” he asked almost mockingly. “They’re humans. Obviously, they will choose to vote one of them to die. Which human will want to die? Better one of them to die than all of them, right?”

Qian chortled in amusement. “I’m sure you’re right about that,” she said, her voice as smooth as velvet. “Just wondering who do you think will they vote to die?” She stood up from her seat and went to the window in her room. She stared at the stars far above in the sky.

“Is it Kris, the cold guy who rarely talks and is always grumpy?” She made her way to her closet. “Or is it Sooyoung, the annoying girl who whines and eats a lot?” She opened the drawer in her closet. “Or is it Xiumin, the nice guy who can barely hurt a fly?” She took out a piece of cloth that was supposed to be made into a dress but it was still in process. “Or is it Yoona, the playful girl who loves to prank others?” She made her way to where her sewing machine was located at.

Then, she turned around and stared directly into her boyfriend’s eyes. “Or is it Luhan, the last person to join the group and only joins because he’s Yoona’s boyfriend?” she asked, an amused smile etched itself on her luscious lips.

Zhou Mi crossed his arms over his chest and smirked. “I wonder, too,” he replied. “How strong is their bond of friendship?”

Qian returned his smirk with her own smirk. “We shall find out together, Mi-ah, in this little experiment of mine,” she answered. “After all, if a monster existed, it was buried deep within.”

Yes, I know I have a lot of fanfics to complete but I promise that this will only be a short fanfic with three chapters. This is for MONOCHROME : : an exo writing contest. I'll be using prompt number 18; "If a monster existed, it was buried deep within," - Horace Slughorn, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
