The Carpenter

Description

|| The Carpenter ||

It was finally a happily ever after for the Florist. The legendary underground Second leader who turned into a successful man after going through countless hardships. It was hard for him to escape his previous life, because he had indirectly caused the death of his precious younger brother, Lee Sungjong. Yet, all around him was love and support that he had needed.

Two most important ones, one coming from his lovely wife, Park Nana.
The other, coming from the man he calls hyung, Kim Sung Gyu.

After leaving his own multi-million dollar company to settle down with his brothers, Sunggyu soon grew bored of serving coffee and repairing broken stools or lightbulbs. Surely there was something more for the ever brillant First Leader. Was he really going to spend the rest of his life regretting how he had left his comfortable position as CEO of his lifelong ambition interior designing company?

Maybe not. Since he had too much love for his brothers to blame them for his decision.

But even if he had his job back in the company, there were still emptiness inside his heart and soul. Is there anyone out there who was prepared to spend a lifetime fixing Sunggyu broken heart and mind? Someone who could capture his attention like how his current sister-in-law had.

But the real question was whether he would accept it, or would he run away like before...

Foreword

|| One Year Later.

After the usual morning announcement that had disrupted the peaceful atmosphere in the morning, Nam Woohyun, the self-proclaimed Mi-Dearest, started breaking some eggs into his favourite blue frying pan. Along with the wives of his brother, Yvonne Kim and Lee Nana were helping to prepare coffee and toast for eight hungry people. The aroma of a delicious breakfast was floating around the house and Hoya was the first victim to wake up from Woohyun's smart move and groaned from the lack of sleep.

Myungsoo and Sungyeol were disappointed (more frustrated actually), that their wives were downstairs with that Mi-Dearest instead of being by their side to cuddle. It was lonely waking up to an empty bed everyday. Dongwoo just slept passed that annoying announcement and pretended that there was still more time to sleep.

For our main lead however, Kim Sunggyu woke up in front of his computer just a few minutes after Woohyun's announcement. It had been one of his strangest habit that he could sleep on his desk and not his bed. His body had beem too used to work and more work. It just wasn't him to do things like, washing dishes, clearing tables and serving drinks everyday.

Staring right in front of him, was his old company and their happenings. He had told his General Manager that if he had any problems, he could ask him through emails. Right now, Sunggyu was in the midst of replying the newest mail when he looked to his right, another computer with the updated stock market details. He had been following his company shares and had lately bought some shares for additional income. Sunggyu saw one of his shares price rising an quickly called his broker to sell all his stocks immediately. After doing so, the prices started to fall. He was lucky enough to sell them in time.

Not bad earning one billon won before nine in the morning.

Sunggyu slowly got out of his chair and stretched his back until it cracked nice and tight. He then went to shower before appearing for breakfast. In the bathroon, he couldn't help but wonder what he could do with his life as the  icy cold water splashed onto his face. He would like to return back to work but it would look really stupid since he let go of that position. He could have just chosen to take a long-term vacation but ended up quiting his own post.

But then.

There had to be something more for Lee Sunggyu. For the past few months, he had been taking classes like carpentry and pottery to kill time and increase his own skills. The day before yesterday had been his last lesson. He now officially had gotten two diplomas. At the back of his mind, he started toying with an  idea of opening a workshop for himself. But this was something that he needed to discuss with his family members. He wasn't living in hishouse anymore, but their/our/everyone's house.

Sunggyu brushed his hair dry and put on a set of clean shirt and shorts. It was Friday, a dress down day, in his own world of course since no one really cares how he was dressed in a cafe. He wore his fake glasses while giving his semi-dry hair a bed look. The clock striked nine and he walked down to the huge kitchen their dining room had merged with.

He sat at the head of the table and flipped open the newspaper. It had been an unwritten rule that Sunggyu didn't like to be disturbed when he was reading the morning paper. He also didn't notice the people walking and taking their seats around the table. Dongwoo had slept late writing songs and was racing down to his seat after only brushing his teeth. He yawned loudly just as Woohyun placed the last plate of food on the table.

Sunggyu ate sliently, his mind thinking about his life and was only half listening to his dongsaengs. They looked so happy and fulfilled with their lives. Even Dongwoo was happy with just writing songs. He sighed loudly before continuing with his breakfast. Hardly nobody noticed that Sunggyu was restless. That was the correct term to use, restless. It was obvious that Sunggyu was tired of doing very little.

Sungyeol felt the guiltiest among them all since it was because of him that Sunggyu had given up his job and dream. He wanted to stay close to his brother and while Sungyeol was achieving his dream, Sunggyu was throwing it all away. But no fear, Sungyeol had already came up with a plan to solve this issue.

He had taken up his eldest brother's bad habit of doing things before telling or discussing it with his family members. It was a good idea actually. What happened was that Sungyeol had already talked and discussed with his other brothers about his plan and they were all for it as well. They were only left to present it to Sunggyu. The gift was expensive, but it wasn't even enough for all Sunggyu had spent on all of them. So everyone pitched in a little and saved up in these three months when Sunggyu went for his lessons.

"Hyung."

"Yes Yeollie?"

"We have a surprise for you."

Sunggyu raised an eyebrow. A surprise from Sungyeol was usually a good thing, but the bad thing was that it was probably expensive since Sungyeol always wanted to give the best to others. In his own mind, he wondered what more could Sungyeol give to him.

"Nana's pregnant?"

"What! No. I mean, not yet."

A round of laughter and back patting on Sungyeol's back was done while the couple blushed. They couldn't even tease the couple that got married before them since Yvonne was already pregnant with their first kid. She was four months into her pregnancy and was starting to look like a huge balloon. Nana swore it was a twin which scared Myungsoo even more since he was overprotective of his wife now. Yvonne looked adorable standing behind the counter serving drinks and taking orders lately with her huge tummy.

"It's better if we have one pregnant mother in the house at a time. Two would be disasterous. Anyway, Nana being pregnant should be a surprise for me. Why would that be a surprise for you?"

"Okay chill. Just asking. So what's the surprise?"

"Hyung, you're runing the mood. We have a surprise for you. It's a gift from all of us. We know that you're bored of working in the cafe because you couldn't do what you love to do like before. I'm really sorry that you give up your job because of me. It was selfish of me and selfless of you. Now, i've accomplished my dream and so did all of us. It is time you did too. So we're giving you.. A shop!"

"Huh?"

"Please Yeobo. Before you get all drama like how I was when I heard the plan, let Sungyeol explain it first."

"You see Hyung, the cafe beside us is closing down because we, well, took all their business. So they had decided to go to America to spend some quality time with their children. They're selling their cafe and we bought it, just yesterday. Everyone pinched it a little. Well, Woohyun hyung chipped in the most since he's richer than all of us. It's yours now! We bought it under your name and you can go look at it today after breakfast. The old couple are waiting for you to have a look later on."

Everyone loved to see the speechless look on Sunggyu's face. It was always good to surprise their eldest once in a while.

"You didn't have to, I could buy it mysel-"

"No no that would be different hyung."

Hoya interrupted.

"You've done a lot for us since college. You let me follow my dreams and taught me to not give up on things that I love. You taught me patience was a virtue and I did, everything worked out great. Now, you've waiting to achieve your dream, and it's high time you get it. We'd noticed how restless you are every morning when you went to work and how bright you smiled when you were going for your evening lessons. It was obvious hyung. You don't have to feel bad. Just accept the gift, we hope you like it!"

"And we could help you renovate it. I need some exercise since all I ever do is sit and slack on the couch writing my lyrics like a maniac. You wouldn't mind right hyung. I mean, the couch is a little sinked in but I can buy another exact one for it. Another big song coming."

"How much was it?"

How practical of their brother to ask for the price before even saying thanks. Dongwoo wasn't the least offended since he understood the man more than a decade ago. Yet, they knew the price would shock the shoes off Sunggyu, or they thought so. He would be upset knowing they had spent so much on him.

"Six hundred and twenty million won. All seven of us chipped in so it wasn't alot to each of us."

Sunggyu felt like crying. Just that morning, he had effortlessly earned a billion won on the stock market. He could easily used it to pay for the shop since it was just a reserve to him. Yet his dongsaengs saved each and every won for just for him. He knew it wasn't manly to cry out loud so he gave each of his dongsaengs a hug. He felt stupid to allow them to buy him something so big, yet felt so love at the same time.

"Let's all make plans for it tonight!"

|| Disclaimer: All ideas reserved to sticklegs. The story and idea belonged to me. I was writing my other stories when this just appeared in my head. I'm sorry to those Sunggyu-biased if the female character isn't to your liking but i'm just not sure who to use, since the man has like.. some many bias. Still, I shall try. All pictures used aren't mine unless stated otherwise.

|| Author's Note.

Hi buttercakes! So this is the sequel for Sunggyu, after The Florist. If you hadn't read the The Florist, I would actually suggest you do since there's a lot of foundation there. Meaning, the base of the story. Also, this would be a short sequel instead of the long one like The Florist. My judgement of short can be very milky, since twenty chapters could be short too but I promise, I'm keeping it a maximum of ten chapters. Nothing more, I hope.

Also, as a surprise. I'm writing a sequel for all four of them. I won't be writing for Dongwoo and Sungjong. Sungjong, for obvious reasons. He's gone for more than five years and it's a little difficult to write if he suddenly appeared and came down from Heaven. Dongwoo; I would prefer it if he was still together with Hanuel. No ideas on that one yet.

I wrote this as The Carpenter. Since I wanted to give it a little more feel like The Florist and since Sunggyu is more of a interior designer and everything arty. Hope everyone enjoys another story of mine. Do subscribed and comment as much as you like. I like to reply comments starting now. Love you all. XOXO.
