{Flashback to when Elena was 8 years old. It's currently Taec's fake birthday.}

Elena POV:

Well, the gaurds seem to be especially obnoxious today, don't they? Oh well, I might as well have some fun and run away while I can. Oh, there's the ferris wheel, I wonder how much a ticket costs 0.o

Taecyeon POV:

5 minutes ago, I thought my life couldn't get any better. Dad took me to the carnival, and we held hands as we went on the ferris wheel. It was honestly the happiest moment of my life. I knew it was too good to be true though, because as always, dad left to go to ANOTHER buisness meeting. I don't think it'll ever be the same again. Dad is always, and I'm usually with hyung nowadays. Dad did give me some birthday money, so I gues i'll go on the ferris wheel again. 

Elena Pov:

Oh, there it is! Right before I went to pay for the ride,

"Excuse me miss, but you're too young to go on this ride by yourself."

Right when I was about to correct him and argue, he suggested, "Why don't you go on with this young man? He's too young to go on by himself too." Sighing and not bothering to argue anymore, I just got on and the boy followed me.

We sat there awkwardly for a little bit, until I asked him "Are you Korean?" in Korean. "Yeah", he said confused and surprised. "How did you know?" I smiled and shrugged.

5 minutes later......

"Wait, so you're telling me that today's your birthday, but you've never had a birthday party or a birthday cake?" I questioned.

He nodded. "That's so....... depressing" I said sadly.

Taecyeon's POV:

I eneded up telling her everything. How I ran away today was hiding from his mom, who was about to send him to an orphanage. I don't know why, but she made me feel comfortable. The way she spoke, the way she laughed, and how she smiled. It was a different kind of feeling from being with Dad. Really different. And for some reason, I liked that feeling. 

Elena POV:

I could see that he wanted to cry badly but he was holding it in. I couldn't blame him, I mean based on everything that he had gone through, I'd be sobbing by now if I was him. So I did the only thing I could do to help him. I cried.

Taecyeon POV":

She started crying and I didn't know what to do. I felt pretty bad about it and I wanted to cry myself, so I scooted closer and hugged her. I don't know what had gotten over me, but it just felt like the right thing to do. By this point, I really did admire her, having the guts to cry for some random kid she had just met at the carnival. 

Elena POV:

"Don't cry. Other girls look pretty when they cry, but you look like a mess."

"YAH!" I said as I lightly shoved his chest, as he chuckled. Soon after, the ride pulled to an abrupt stop, and I had a brilliant idea. As soon as the door opened, I pulled him with me and sat him on the seat of a table nearby. I stuck a candle ontop of a couple of cookies that I had in my backpack and I light it. "This is a song my mom used to sing to me" I said as I started to sing in Korean:

Right when I finished the song, he blew out the candles and I clapped. "Happy Birthday", I said smiling.

Taecyeon POV:

I was about to thank her, when some gaurds dressed in black suits came over to us.

"Elena! Where were you?!"

"How could you run away like that?!"

"Do you know how worried we were?!"

"What if you got kidnapped?!"

" Come on, were going home, now!"

They took her away, and I was about to say goodbye but something caught my eye.

It was a heart shaped pendant with diamonds in it, the one she had been wearing. Thinking she must have dropped it, I picked it up and tried to catch up to the gaurds, but they had already sped off in a car.
