Interlude O2
A Language of Our OwnSooyeon stared up at the flickering flecks of sunlight breaking through the moving leaves above her. She traced the frail skinny branches that held so dearly to its leaves as the wind tried to pry it away from its grasp. The branches grew stronger the closer it got to the trunk which rooted itself to the ground like a big mighty pillar that stood as a firm, unwavering support for its branches.
She then turned her head to the side and saw her dearest friend calmly eating at the sandwich that she had made for her. In many ways, her friend was like the big strong tree trunk that was supporting her. She couldn’t imagine her life without her friend. It just didn’t make sense for her to be without her. They were together since so young and have managed to stay together all the way up until that very moment and she was sure that they would continue being together for a very, very long time.
But then she lowered her gaze a little more and saw the fading bruise around her wrist. It made her realise that the friend who she used to think was the pillar of her existence was just as fragile as she was. No longer was she deluded by her own mind in thinking that her friend was as strong and powerful like a big mighty tree trunk. No, Taeyeon wasn’t like that. She never was. Sooyeon has come to realise that Taeyeon was just like a tree branch. They try so desperately to hold on and support onto whatever they can, but they need someone to support them too.
