I stared at the sign above me, Cafe Air. The name was questionable, but the aroma it omitted was too strong to ignore.

Foreword

Prologue
nothing nothing nothing Girl meets boy. nothing nothing nothing

Without a job, life seemed so boring, lifeless. There was no office gossip or secrets, I had no boss to hate, and no office
to talk about. But, I did have time to explore the city. And that somehow occupied a nice portion of my time. On
my second day of jobless exploration, I decided to look for coffee. Not just any cup of coffee! A macchiato, which would
probably prove to be the easiest type of coffee to find in any cafe'. The mere thought of a warm, smooth cup of espresso
with cream, warmed my heart and made it all mushy inside. I shuddered at the thought of that prospective heaven.

I decided to go away from home. Far into the city, where all the businessmen and women were. Maybe I'd even visit my
sister. I shook that last thought out of my head. Settling for just the coffee, would be just fine by itself. I wandered for an
hour, peeking in several shops here and there. Within five minutes I found something that caught me eye.

A small cafe', wedged between a large office building and an alleyway. From the outside, it looked pretty legit. It was
clean, the interior looked fairly chic. Something was off. I searched for an oddity or some kind of deformity. Nothing
was wrong. Maybe taking a look inside wouldn't hurt?

Almost instantly, I figured out just what was wrong. No customers, with the exception of one man who couldn't quite
think of what he wanted. I contemplated leaving and saving the espresso for another day. My eyes spotted a thick slice
of coffee cake. The place was empty for a reason. It wouldn't hurt to find another place. Before I could turn to leave,
the cashier had already flagged me over. I walked to the counter hesitantly, the indecisive man still hovering around
the register. It isn't too late to leave. stared at the sign above me, Cafe Air. The name was questionable, but the
aroma was too strong to ignore.

I gave in.

"One macchi-"

"Black coffee." A tall man in a fitted black suit blurted out, before I could finish.

The barista looked at us quizzically. "One macchiatto, and one black coffee? I'll be back in a minute." She sauntered off into
a dark entry way before I could finish.

"But I-" She was long gone and I doubted she'd be able to hear me.

The msytery man looked down at me and smiled. "You're paying for it."

I don't know if it was his smile, or just thhe fact that I was completely astonishment by the boldness of the man I hardly even
knew. Either way, I bought his coffee and I was sure that wouldn't be the last time I saw him.
