coaptation

Description

COAPTATION

There's a list--a cliched--but very long list, of the way wounds are created and bones are broken, but a very simple word to use when they start to heal. Coaptation; the drawing together of the separated tissue in a wound or fracture. Five wounds have been made, whether recently or in the past. Some are under threat of infection and others are still bleeding profusely; but this is how they were made and this might just be how they are healed. The simplest wound can cause the most pain and scar if not properly treated.

Foreword

ABRASION:

In the two weeks from the moment Zitao had barely recognized his name scrawled haphazardly on a piece of paper that was held over the blonde Korean's head, Zitao had learnt two things about Sehun, he was far too attractive to be legally allowed to exist, and he liked to instigate situations that would amuse him. This 'blind date' with Sehun's hyung, Lu Han and Lu Han's high school friend was another fun moment that Sehun had passed off as trying to help Zitao 'feel at home'. There was no doubt in Zitao's mind that Sehun was planning some kind of game at his expense. The male ran his fingers down the front of his shirt in agitation as he glanced up to see Sehun studying him from his spot on the floor.

Sehun was mindlessly making bored expressions when he heard the Chinese exchange student sigh loudly for the fifth time, and his eyes darted up to Zitao. The other still stood in front of the mirror, as he did every time he had to go out alone with Sehun, and Sehun couldn't help but feel offended that Zitao didn't seem to enjoy any of their time together. But then, he couldn't tell anything about Zitao. The other was quiet until he had something particular to say and it was rarely in understandable Korean. Lu Han had said he'd get the Zitao to open up, and Sehun couldn't remember what he said back, but they'd both started laughing before Lu Han shot out a date and time--which had come far too quickly for both Sehun and Zitao.

"Ready yet?" Sehun attempted to be polite, and Zitao hesitated again, shooting the mirror a look before he nodded.

HUANG ZITAO (TAO) AND OH SEHUN (SEHUN).

CONTUSION:

A glance at his friend and Lu Han held out his fingers as he listed off objects his best friend was good at forgetting. Handphone, headphones, wallet, money in the wallet, the piece of paper with his address (in the wallet), his I.D. -- as he came to the last one, Yixing laughed at him then nodded his head, murmuring something to himself, before he turned to go back into the room he was sharing with Lu Han. There was a childish delight in Lu Han's smile as he watched his friend disappear for a few moments. It'd been too long since they'd seen each other, and he was glad to have the other around again. Although, the first night, Lu Han hadn't slept well at all.

If there had been someone he wanted to share his first kiss with, it would have been Yixing. They had made a promise when Yixing had come out. Yixing liking boys had never bothered Lu Han before, and even though Lu Han had considered himself straight, they'd made the promise that if Lu Han ever thought he liked guys, Yixing would be his test, they'd both laughed happy that their friendship had only grown stronger with the news. But Yixing had been back in China, and Lu Han had a couple drinks, and Min-seok.. he was there. There should have been no guilt, no sense of betrayal, but yet, Lu Han couldn't help but keep putting off telling his best friend the confusion that had come from a kiss. Maybe he wasn't as straight as he thought. Min-seok had apologized after, and they said they wouldn't let it change their friendship. But Lu Han knew he had at least three messages he had purposely ignored from the other, and now Yixing had been living with him for three days already. It only led to more confusion.

"Lulu, I have everything now," Yixing's voice made Lu Han look up to see the others focus on fiddling with his wallet. He watched the other drop it, before he picked it up himself and stuck his hand out for the identification. Yixing passed it over with a relieved sigh that he had Lu Han there to look after him.

"We'll be late," Lu Han said as he began walking towards the door. He was very thankful that his dongsaeng, Sehun had his Chinese exchange boy issues; it'd be a break from his own for a night.

ZHANG YIXING (LAY), XI LU HAN (LUHAN) AND KIM MIN-SEOK (XIUMIN)

PUNCTURE:

Chanyeol tugged the smaller boy closer, with a smile. "Jongdae, what are you doing?" He questioned curiously, arms wrapped around the others shoulders as he leaned over to inspect the dishes on the stove top.

If Jongdae had known he'd be forcibly pulled into a love triangle by his neighbourhood friends, he would have never been so happy to move in with the other two. Baekhyun and Chanyeol always seemed in sync with one another. They were childhood friends, and most kids that had been at the same school as the three knew the story. Chanyeol's parents moving away to find work during a hard patch, and Baekhyun's family taking him in. There had been gossip that Chanyeol's family had simply abandoned him one morning, but Jongdae didn't know the details. And he had only slightly wished he knew more details before he had signed on to live in the spare room the two had in their apartment together. They had seemed so normal before he moved in, both smiling and nudging one another when they spoke of embarrassing moments at school that they shared together. Why had they seemed so normal?

"Yah, leave Jongdae-yah to cook, you'll distract him," Baekhyun snapped abruptly from behind the two, and both males paused to glance back at the grumpy male.

They were going to argue again, over nothing, and then give one another a cold shoulder--for a couple days. Then Jongdae would return to them on the couch together, like nothing had happened. That was their cycle. Jongdae didn't know why they seemed to repeat history almost every two weeks since he'd been living there. But he'd seen and heard enough to know he probably didn't want to know. He felt Chanyeol tighten his arms around his shoulders, leaning into him more, almost pulling him off balance. Jongdae steadied himself with the counter top.

"I'm not distracting you, am I?" Chanyeol whined immaturely and Jongdae turned his head to look at Baekhyun for help.

But the others expression only showed annoyance. Why was there no one around to save him from the two? Why did he feel so much like a pawn? If it wasn't Chanyeol hugging him from behind, it was Baekhyun pulling him onto the couch for a movie; only until the other of the two stormed off angry and then they would make a noise and leave too.

BYUN BAEKHYUN (BAEKHYUN), KIM JONGDAE (CHEN) AND PARK CHANYEOL (CHANYEOL).

LACERATION:

Jong-in fiddled with his phone, the device hadn't lit up with a response yet, but he was sure that Jongdae would respond when he was finished cooking his food. From what Jong-in had learnt from the few times his supervisors roommates had come into the cafe, Jongdae was probably being dragged into another on of their games. Jong-in could tell from the moment he met Chanyeol and Baekhyun; they liked one another but didn't know it was mutual. Neither seemed to be willing to express themselves and so Jongdae was often pulled in the middle. It might have been when Jong-in had started to think Jongdae was cute; getting flustered and trying to fix the nonexistent problem that the two others were making into a huge deal. Confusion was why Jong-in had rules when he was dating.

  1. Don't get emotionally attached.
  2. Be straightforward and always honest.
  3. Never make promises he can't keep.

But still. Jong-in tilted his head as he remembered watching Jongdae dash from one side of the cafe to the other, passing messages from Chanyeol to Baekhyun with increasing begs for them to stop fighting. His cheeks flushed red and his hands being sweatily wiped down the front of his apron when he stood nervously, message being passed on. A small laugh broke Jong-in's lips as he realized he'd being paying more attention to his new boss than he had first thought.

"What's so funny?" A tired voice broke his thoughts and Jong-in's eyes fell to the curled up figure of Kyungsoo who was lying across his lap. They had a thing, and by thing, he meant they did more than they should as friends and Jong-in had sucessfully dodged any hint of tying himself to a relationship.

"Work," Jong-in responded vaguely.

Kyungsoo was the type to be in a serious relationship and Jong-in knew how uncomfortable Kyungsoo felt with their relationship. But Kyungsoo was soft underneath his attempts at masculinity, and Jong-in was good at leading blind people to cliff edges. It made them hold onto him tightly, so then he wouldn't have to hold on back.

KIM JONGDAE (CHEN), KIM JONG-IN (KAI) AND DO KYUNGSOO (D.O.).

INCISION:

The young Chinese woman whispered to the tall man that had entered behind her, and Joonmyeon stifled a nervous cough. His parents liked to surprise him. His dislike for surprises had grown since they had the 'surprise' talk about his family businesses future in China, followed by the 'surprise' announcement of his betrothal to a Chinese heiress, followed by her 'surprise' visit -- a 'surprise' he was currently coming to terms with. Especially since he'd merely being informed to dress nicely for a meal with his parents, only to sit alone for minutes before she entered. She. His fiancee. Their first meeting. He had complimented her, to which the tall man had passed on and responded with quite accomplished Korean. But Joonmyeon could tell he was foreign. They'd sat in stifled conversation for a while before the waitress had appeared and they had been saved for only moments.

"Miss. Li, would like to extend a thank you for the invitation," the tall male spoke again, and Joonmyeon wondered if he had once heard his finacee's voice above a whisper. Everything she said came from the man she had entered with.

"Ah, yes. I'm glad she could make it," Joonmyeon spoke awkwardly, the words forming with hesitation marks on them. He didn't even know she was in South Korea, but he didn't know how to explain this to her at all.

This time the man whispered to the Chinese heiress, Xifeng, who returned with a nod, a small polite smile given to Joonmyeon before she bowed her head a little. Joonmyeon struggled, bowing in return and a little deeper. Formalities were always his strong point in school, but he couldn't get past the idea that this stranger would be his wife. Should he speak as if they are close? Or should he remain formal until they were closer? Would his formal language translate into Chinese? A nervous smile came to Joonmyeon's lips as he glanced between Xifeng and the translator. He still didn't know the other's name.

"Is she enjoying her time here, in Korea?" Joonmyeon attempted to start a conversation, but his focus was directed on the only other party at he table who could understand him.

The male motioned towards Xifeng.

"Direct your questions to Miss. Li, as if I'm not here," the unnamed male answered strictly and Joonmyeon coughed the anxiety from his throat again, nodding his head. He didn't know how to talk to her when all she did was gaze at him; polite smile never faltering and her focus solely on him.

KIM JOONMYEON (SUHO) AND WU YIFAN (KRIS).

There are five different love stories, there will be a lot of crossing paths and eventually every character will meet one another in one way or another in future chapters. And since this is my first fanfic, please forgive me. I'm learning through trial and error. But I do hope you guys read and enjoy.

Chapter 20: I'm guessing the young Joonmyeon was kidnapped together with one of childhood friends? Either Jongdae or Kyungsoo? I really want to know what exactly transpired between the latter and Joonmyeon to cause such enmity between them. So many questions... I started reading this to check out your other fics -after liking that kaisoo one which left me in tears and a broken heart-, and also in part because of the (chen)kaisoo tag. And I am, once again, impressed with your writing. However, I am left with frustration over Kaisoo. My heart goes to Kyungsoo //ok I'm partial to adorable freaky-eyed Kyungsoo if you don't already know// and I want to scream at him to get out of the toxic 'relationship' *if they could call it that* but I realize they're both using each other. I secretly hope though that despite Jong-In's commitment phobe tendencies and the hot-and-cold attitude, he does have feelings *however minute* for dear Kyungsoo. I like the way you tease (torture?) your readers by leaving tidbits and clues so we could form our own conjectures...until the next chapter, or the next, reveal itself. I wish I could drill a hole in your creative mind right now though to satiate this burning curiosity of mind. But violence do not become me. So I shall let you live. For now. Bruhahahaha. Ok. I fail at making fake threats. Anyway. Can't wait to read more soon!

Chapter 20: Yay!!! I love the junmyeon chapters and this one was awesome as always. I wonder what the specific incident in the past was and who was there with him?
I also wish yi fan would sop being so passive. He wants to reach out to junmyeon...
Nice job!

Chapter 18: i love the intensity of this chapter, but especially this: "Slowly. Slowly. Pushing its sharp edge against the weaker skin, growing with pressure until it stuck through unexpectedly. Slowly. Slowly. Through every layer at speed that Chanyeol found he could never define as anything more than excruciating. It was almost a relief when it finally broke through, as if he could let himself inhale after holding his breath for too long." great stuff!!

this chapter explains a lot abt their relationship, although there are a few lingering questions still: i'm kind of confused why they don't TALK about their feelings esp when they seem to be mutual (although tbf if people communicated relationship problems wouldn't exist/95% of fic would be angst-less), and i don't get why baekhyun keeps pushing girls onto chanyeol when he knows chanyeol is gay... but hopefully these questions will be answered soon ;; keep writing!! i love the stuff you write (and ik i seem to have a one-track mind with the baekyeol but god i'm so into your kaichen, and the other stories too ;;)
