~Kai's POV~

I was a loner throughout my life. Despite my handsome face, as some call it, I was always cast aside because I was a lot tanner than everyone else. It was brutal being bullied everyday because of it. You would think that I would be used to it by now, seeing as I'm almost 20 and starting my freshmen year of college, but that's where you're wrong. It still hurts.

Suicide has been an option for me, but I could never bring myself to do it. Because of one girl.

The smiling angel.

She has been in the same class as me since kindergarten and she was my goddess. We never really talked besides when our teacher assigned us together for projects, but that was about it. But there was something about her that was different.

She never judged me because of my skin tone or that I preferred to hang out alone. But truth be told, I wanted to be closer to her. In any way.

During high school, puberty did her right. Her looks were second to none before puberty, but now she was the definition of beauty.

Her smile was bright and could lighten up even the darkest days. She had the most beautiful smile anyone has even seen.

She is the reason I'm still living. I want to watch her everyday (not in a creepy way...), just looking at her smile. Her smile gave me hope, that there really is good in this world. She was a happy virus, there was never anything sad in her world. No worries. No problems. Just happiness and maybe rainbows.

I want to be just like her. I want to know what it's like to smile.

To genuinely smile.
