An Assassin's Eyes

Description

Kibum is a boy whose fallen on hard times. A strong boy, no doubt, but unlucky all the same. His younger brother, Taemin, is his sole responsibility after his parents disappeared two years ago. No one knows that the brothers have no parents, that the older is providing for them fully. They barely see Kibum, and never the parents, but Taemin is a clever lier. He's had to grow up fast. Too fast, Kibum sometimes says.

Key is an assasin, not known, but in his business, that's a sign of how good you are. And Key is very good. Skilled, clever, and named after his ability to get into any lock- a door, a safe, anything, without a key. Ever. He lives in the shadows. He knows enough not to get emotionally involved, not to get caught.

His brother knows what he does. He doesn't know the details, certainly, but enough to know that Kibum is just trying to support him, just trying to care for the boy.

Jonghyun is the prince, future king of the kingdom, although he is woefully unprepared for the job. He's selfish, spoiled, bratty. He's smart, sure, but not very caring or giving. His rule is predicted by the people to be long and harsh. He's perfectly fine not having the weight of the kingdom on his shoulders, perfectly fine with his life. But he means someone that he thinks changed his life for the worse, but who actually changed his life for an entirely diffent reason.

Wow. I didn't mean for this story to so sound so superheroy- ish and double personalities, but I promise, it's probably not going to turn out like that. Probably.

So I had the idea for this fanfic like a week ago but I didn't have anyone as the main characters yet. I was reading one of the Jongkey fanfics that I follow and it said something about Key knowing that in fanfics Jonghyun is always the manly and strong one and always tops and all, and I starting thinking about the actual Key being annoyed by that, so I wanted to make a story where Key would be strong and stuff. And, *waves magic wand* this story was born!

I wouldn't start on this story right away, but I will soon. Please tell me what you think!

Foreword

I messaged the bump on my head as I shuffled down the huge stairs. I could hear louder voices than usual in my fathers bedroom, and I grumbled in displeasure. How was I suppose to heal with idiots running around the castle? I would give them a piece of my mind later, when my head stopped throbbing. A shriek echoed through the hall, and a thud followed the eardrum piercing sound. Well. I would scream at them now.

I made my way across the large hall and into the center wing of the castle. Following the voices, I stomped up the stairs, my eyes narrowed into slits. They would get it soon. I saw the overflow of people in my fathers large bedroom. That was weird. The old man had a room big enough to fit all the servants in the castle, easily, just in his bedroom. I shoved my way through the people, my curiously getting the best of me. They separated immediately, as they should. I am the crown prince, after all. I deserve their respect.

As I walked closer, I could tell something was wrong. There was soldiers holding back people, and the people who could see gave me pitying looks, which I hated. I was much to important to be pitied. My temper rising, I pushed myself past the last row, and stopped, my jaw dropping in suprise. It was my father. The old man was sprawled on his monster bed, not moving. On a closer inspection, I noticed the man's chest was still. So. The old man's drinking had finally caught up with him. Then I saw it. Surrounded in a circle of red, a knife protruding from the man's neck. He had been murdered. I was stunned, for a second, my thoughts drifting to thinking about another person, but, as they were due to be, my mind focused on myself again.

I realized what this means. I was king. But I can't be. I don't want to be. I had always gotten what I wanted, but this time, I didn't. Then, my fingers pressed to my throbbing forehead, I recalled what had happened last night. That guy. This was his fault, I was sure of it.
