Luhan wakes up to a stiff back and a warm hand on his waist. The couch is by no means the best place to sleep on in the dorm, but tucked against Sehun’s side, Luhan isn’t complaining.

It’s a lazy Sunday morning, and thankfully EXO has their schedules cleared for the day.

Luhan couldn’t ask for any better way to wake up.

It takes a good fifteen minutes and an internal battle later (Luhan wants to surprise Sehun with breakfast, but Sehun is just so warm) before Luhan pulls himself up and off Sehun’s embrace. Rubbing his eyes, he decides on making pancakes and bacon, along with an added bowl of strawberries.

Sehun’s favorite. Luhan mumbles to himself as he rummages through the cupboard, and then the fridge, for his ingredients.

(I like strawberries. Sehun says one day, strawberry bubble tea in hand, a box of strawberry Peperro in the other, and two bottles of strawberry milk in the plastic bag hanging off his wrist. Luhan makes sure to remember.)

The bacon is cooking and Luhan decides he has enough time to retreat back to Sehun, and so he does, back to the boy sleeping soundly on the couch. Luhan plucks a fallen eyelash off of Sehun’s cheek, and Sehun stirs, but not enough to wake up, much to Luhan’s relief. He doesn’t want Sehun awake until breakfast is complete, and the table is fully set.

His fingers travel to Sehun’s cheek, the bridge of his nose, down to his lips. Sehun’s skin is smooth, and Luhan breathes a sigh of contentment, and –

By the time Luhan reaches the kitchen to turn the fire down, the bacon is already burnt, well toasted at the edges, and has curled up in the most unattractive of ways. Luhan’s shoulders are slumping lower after each strip of bacon is transferred from the pan to a plate.

(Burnt bacon is still bacon, Xiao Lu. Luhan can imagine Sehun saying. And I still like it because you cooked it.)

The pancakes are cooked next. Sehun likes his pancakes creamy and fluffy, so Luhan makes his batter using milk instead of water. Luhan carefully washes strawberries in between cooking the pancakes.

Luhan eats a strawberry or two every so often.

Sehun is awake, a stack of pancakes, and a bowl of strawberries later (the plate of destroyed bacon is left at the kitchen counter). Good morning, Sehun ah! Luhan chimes, and Sehun smiles a sleepy smile in response.

Good morning, Xiao Lu.

Luhan is pulling Sehun by the arm before Sehun can even completely open his eyes, and when he does, Luhan is pouting at him. Sehun raises an eyebrow.

There is no bacon, Luhan says, his bottom lip sticking out. because I burnt the bacon. It looks ugly.

I will eat it because you made it. Sehun says while rubbing the sleep completely from his eyes. His other hand reaches over to ruffle his hyung’s hair, which admirably falls back into place. Besides, burnt bacon is still bacon, Xiao Lu.

And that’s all it takes for Luhan to dash back into the kitchen and bring the final plate onto the table, completing the spread. 

Luhan is standing in front of Sehun again, looking up at the younger man. The height difference is much evident when Luhan is barefoot and not wearing any insoles. Good morning, Sehun ah! He repeats, getting on tiptoes to place a tender kiss on Sehun’s pink lips. Sehun thinks Luhan’s lips taste like strawberries.

And it’s just the way he likes it.
