Lighthouse.

Description

And the funny thing was, he was so wrapped up in the moment that he almost missed it.

They were a part of all this, utterly mundane compared to the rest, sat silently amongst his friends.

He saw it, subtle and quiet, but he saw it. Right next to Baekhyun, his brain seemed to have brushed over the fact that Jongin was sleeping on Yixing's shoulder, his bright brown eyes shut and hidden under his ridiculous fringe.

There were at least a dozen ways that someone could have interpreted the moment, the most probable one being a sign of a good friendship. They were always close, so it wasn't really that much out of the ordinary for them to share an intimate moment like this.

If not for what he heard next, like the rest of his oblivious friends, Kris too would've fallen for that misinterpretation.

While Baekhyun was engaged in repairing the daisy chain, lips momentarily pausing from releasing chatter, Yixing took the opportunity to check in with his napping friend, voice hushed, "you okay?"

The resting boy replied with his eyes closed and frowning, shifting his position to a more comfortable spot on Yixing's shoulder, "can't really sleep."

"Keep your eyes closed and rest them, even if you can't sleep."

Jongin opened his eyes then, chocolate pupils beaming sideways at Yixing, as if he had never heard words more comforting than those dozen of syllables, and closed them again, noiselessly, all within a second. Nobody saw nor heard anything, but Kris did, with pure luck.

Kris felt his heart tremble, a current shooting through his rigid limbs, because up until that point in his life, he had never seen Jongin so handsome, and he almost thought that he was in love.

It was such a quiet moment with such simple words, almost anticlimactical, yet Kris always seemed to come back to this very moment whenever he next saw the two together. It moved him, the secrets interwoven into three plain sentences, and he felt that this was merely the surface of so many well sewn layers. Textiles was always his least favourite subject and that wasn't about to change any time soon, so he chose to ignore the occasional loose thread every now and then.

Because it was small. So small that unless you were really looking for it, it would easily go unnoticed.

It was seen, but not really seen, not unless you had the right vision, like the structure of fibres in every fabric, seen and not seen, with and without the microscope.

If that made any sense.

Foreword

Hello sweeties~

So I got a message from a very sweet girl Xifeng, checking to see if I took prompts. I told her that there was a first time for everything, so here it is, a KaiLay as I promised her! It's incredibly fast because I've actually been writing some stuff to apply for a creative writing course, so I took one of my completed works, and changed it a little to accommodate to the boarding school!AU and to fit KaiLay. Just couldn't help but to add my otp Krisbaek in there. They're so perfect I could cry sometimes T.T

Might get a poster for this later, but we shall see.

Think that's about it for now. Hopefully you'll like it!

Don't forget to comment~ Mwah! <3

Credit goes to ing for the beautiful poster! :)
