What if Disney made a Korean Disney Princess?

Description

MOVIE TITLE:

The Prince and the Snail

SYNOPSIS:

Based on the Korean folktale "Snail Lady" (우렁이 색시), set in a village in 1663 in the Joseon Dynasty, a hardworking farmer named Yonghyun goes to a rice field to harvest rice as usual once day, however stopping by a lake to drink some water, he notices a talking female snail! Unlike most stereotypical snails which are considered dirty, she is the most beautiful snail Yonghyun has ever seen, and she demands Yonghyun to take her home. Yonghyun resents, but then agrees, and not just because the snail reveals that she herself is a princess.

After Yonghyun takes the snail home, everyday he notices delicious food on the table and his house clean. He then notices a beautiful lady, who tells Yonghyun her name is Suryeon, and she is the princess of the snails.

However, the evil King, noticing how beautiful Suryeon is and then realising that Suryeon is a princess of her type of species, he is disgusted at the fact that she is going to get married to a commoner. (In Korea, the traditional social hierachy system determined your identity as well as what you were free to do and who you should marry. So it was basically yangban-yangban, sangmin-sangmin, cheonmin-cheonmin.) However he is no ordinary King as he has magic powers and he attempts to use powers to defeat Yonghyun, but Suryeon saves his life as she is not only a princess but an enchantress.

After the King is defeated, a new King is elected, and Suryeon invites Yonghyun to her snail kingdom so they can live together forever. Yonghyun and Suryeon turn into snails, are welcomed warmly by the snails once again, are married and they live happily ever after.

MY DREAM CAST:

Ailee as Princess Suryeon/The Snail Princess.

Suryeon is the kind, gentle and loyal snail princess, just fulfilling expectations of most Korean women at the time, however she is very wise as well.

Suryeon will be the twelfth Disney Princess, and will have the longest hair in the bunch. She is also the second princess of East Asian descent, after Mulan. She will also be the oldest Disney Princess and be 22 years old, surpassing Cinderella who was 20. Suryeon will be the first Disney princess to have a happy ending, but not in a human form, however she will be franchised more in her human form. She will also be the first princess to kill the villain with another person.

In her snail form, she has bluish-gray flesh and a brown shell, and in her human form she has long black hair which is usually tied in a braid like most Joseon Korean women with a red ribbon, as well as a jeogori chima hanbok consisting of a light pink top with cream collar and mauve goreum bow trailing down to the hem of her dark pink skirt, as well as red flowered rubber shoes. She sometimes wears a purplish-pinkish magoja, as well as a red kkachi durumagi with rainbow striped sleeves and lotus patterns. On her face she has two red yeonji gonji circles, one on each cheek, and two brown almond dots on her forehead. In her wedding form, she wears a red hwarot over her dress, an embroidered hwagwan and apdaenggi, and binyeo to hold up her hair in a bun.

Peniel as Yonghyun

Unlike most stereotypical Korean men at the time, Yonghyun is not aggressive and dominant; in fact he is very soft and tender despite being hardworking. He will be the next Disney Prince after Eugene in Tangled.

For most of the time he wears a plain white hanbok and black rubber shoes, however in his prince form he wears a long white hanbok, with a reddish brown durumagi with lavender sleeves, a black band around his waist, black polished rubber shoes, and a black gat with a ring of beads.
