SMUDGED Perfection

~-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------~

2409, Seoul Korea: Business was booming, and companies sprang one after another. Gender equality was finally achieved, causing companies to choose successors regardless of gender. For some reason, most of them ended up being female successors.

Standing on top is the prestigious Xi group, whom had their spot untouched by rivals for the past few hundred years.

2409, California (USA/America): Technology was at its peak, and most of its investments went towards the business industry. Males continue to be viewed as a level above females, thus resulting to the vast percentage of male successors.

The biggest company, led by the Choi group, was no different, and had the son as the future sucessor.

Foreword

"Thank you so much for your godly visit, and we sincerely hope to be graced by your magnificent presence again." Luhan playfully shaked hands with Mr Teo.

"Well, well, what a cheeky fellow. Nice son you got there, Mr Xi." The middle-aged man chuckled, wrinkles forming near his eyes.

"Oh, I beg to differ. His lack of seriousness will be the cause of my death someday." Mr Xi shaked his head, and proceeded to show Mr Teo the way out.

"Mister Teo.... the next time you come, please bring the latest flavour of Coniel potato chips, the ultra-wasabi one." Luhan whispered while passing by Mr Teo, and then running off before his fathe-

"How dare you request for such informal things from Mr Teo! Come back here, I'll give you a piece of my mind!"

~*~*~

"Sir Luhan, I suggest that you stop running out like a wild monkey and appearing on the headlines again." was the first thing Donghae said when Luhan stepped into his office.

"Oh? I appeared again? Let's see what it is this time..." He grinned, and took the newspaper from Donghae's hand.

"Future successor of the Xi company, Xi Luhan, was seen decorating and creating a masterpiece on the outer walls of the HDB at.... Don't you just love how the media described my works of grafitti?" he snickered, and without delay, started drawing the article using a graffiti marker.

"I still can't fathom how you always manage to escape from the punishments you should have lawfully received.. and why do you still have a graffiti marker, I thought I confiscated all of them just yesterday. Wait, don't you start vandalising your dad's face on the newspape- ah, that's the president of South Korea! Oh you-" Donghae snatched the newspaper away from Luhan, and frowned.

"Seriously, how long are you going to keep this up? You're going to become the successor of Korea's most prestigious company, the Xi company, yet you're still over here abandoning your work, and making a mess outside? If it's not for your annoyingly-high intelligence and your handsome face that just gets you in the good books of the media, I bet my head that you wouldn't have been selected by your dad." He nagged, furrowing his eyebrows while folding up the newspaper neatly, and inserting it into a shelf.

“Woah, it’s totally normal for a secretory to be insulting his employer huh?” Luhan laughed, while putting both of his hands up in the air in defeat.

“Before Mr Xi steps down, I would never recognise you as my employer. Now lazy-bum, I’ve placed all the documents that require your viewings on your desk, so go get your on the chair and start signing papers now.” Donghae huffed, before walking out of the room.

“…. So much for a same-age secretory.” Luhan chuckled, before his mind drifted to his father's favorite garden, and an evil glint formed in his eyes.

~*~*~

“A- oww uhh- Ow!” Cries of pain echoed down the hallway, but no one bothered to turn their heads to find out what happened. After all, it was the norm.

“Ah-Oww! Can’t you be gentler?! I’m your son after all.” Luhan pouted while rubbing his now-red ear. Apparently, he was caught red-handed treading on the rose bushes in his father's favorite garden, and was dragged all the way to Mr Xi’s office.

“Seriously, how old are you? Do you have no face? Which 21-year old son would go around playing stupid tricks? Not to mention that you are the son of the prestigious Xi group, and the future successor of the Xi company. Even if you don’t care about your reputation, you have mine and the Xi company’s to maintain!”  Mr Xi bellowed, while glaring at Luhan, who seemed not a bit interested.

“What’s with your temper? As far as I know, I haven’t been doing badly in my work. In fact, I am the one who secured 40% of our business deals! I may play a lot, but my work is not a tiny bit delayed, so what’s wrong with enjoying life?” Luhan stuck his tongue out and made a face at his dad.

“The problem is your attitude! Yes, I admit you’re smart, and have natural business instincts, but you never valued your work, nor sort out your priorities! You just go around playing, if it’s not for your intelligence, you would’ve never made it through. However, if you’re going to become my successor, just relying on your natural talents won’t be enough. You have to work hard to develop them, and maximise your potential. That’s the point I’ve been stressing to you for the past 6 years, yet nothing gets into your head!”

“I can totally pull through just with my talents, so no thank you!” Luhan boasted, and crossed his arms.

Mr Xi furrowed his eyebrows. His son was getting too confident for his own good. Mr Xi was clearly aware of the talent Luhan has, but in this evil and competitive business world, Luhan would eventually lose out, if he doesn’t start realising other’s intentions, and brush up on his own skills. He’s a tad too tender, and definitely not ready to enter the cruel society. But it looks like Mr Xi’s good intentions won’t go far. In that case…. He’ll have to make Luhan realise using the harsh way.

“We’ll see about that. A company from America will be visiting us sometime today, probably soon, and I want you to join me.” Looks like Mr Xi would have to introduce Luhan to her….

“Why do I have to listen to yo-“

“No exceptions. You will join me, and that’s final” With that, Luhan got shoo-ed out of Mr Xi’s office.

~*~*~

“Your hair on the left is slightly sticking out. Go to the washroom and adjust it.” Mr Xi commented, while standing near the entry of the Xi company, together with Luhan.

“What’s with you? You’ve never been so naggy before. It’s not like some prestigious group is visiting us, I’ve checked with Donghae, and their company is soooo unheard of. They'll probably die even without a fight. I don’t understand why you’re making such a huge deal over it.” Luhan complained, but still listened to Mr Xi, and combed down the hair on his left.

“I would be comforted if what you said was even true.... ” Mr Xi muttered under his breath, and he inwardly shivered.

“Did you say something?”

“No, Luhan… nothing.”

~*~*

“Seriously, who do they think they are? They’re late for nearly 20 minutes and the- wait, I think they are coming in right noowww...” Luhan was left speechless, and stood rooted to his spot with his mouth wide open. Three unbelievably beautiful ladies walked in, followed by a handsome man who seemed like in his early 30s. The first one was chic, wearing all the current-trends and has an undeniable good fashion sense, while the second one was conservative, tying her hair neatly in a ponytail, and wore clean and neat clothing. The third one was drop-dead gorgeous, with her brown hair cascading down her shoulders, ending off with bronzy curls, and has a unique fashion, simple yet captivating.

Any sane man would've froze in shock upon seeing any one of them on the streets, but that was none of Luhan's concern. He would've been happier if their beauty was the reason why he froze... but it wasn't.

Time slowed down like in dramas when the third one walked in. Luhan had seen countless godesses in his business path before, and she wasn't the prettiest, although undeniably she was one of them, but what threw him off his track and stole his voice was.... her eyes.

How she stared at him, how her eyes scanned the surrounding the moment she stepped in, how her eyes narrowed on his father, and as ironic as it sounds, how she walked in like a pure angel. Scary, calculating, yet appearing to be innocent. It’s like a devil hiding behind the mask of an angel… and that sent shivers down his spine.

Author's note: Hello! I used to write fanfics, but took a loooooooooong break (a few months, I believe), before my fanfic-heart came back again xD I've deleted my previous few fanfics, because I didn't want to continue them anymore/lost the inspiration for the story, so I lost all 60+ of my subscribers. :P I started writing again due to thecandice and her most recent fanfic - the apex. She's an AMAZING writer, and 'the apex' is AWESOME, my love for luyoon is partly due to her. I also got inspired by some of the characterics of her characters, and added it into my fanfic ^^ This is my first time dealing with so many characters, and I hope I can finish this fanfic before my fanfic-heart goes away again LOL (it'll be quite a long story).
