Prologue; Letters

Kyungsoo twists the small knob swiftly and swings open his navy blue locker door to find the usual pink pile of letters stuffed in his cramped space of a locker. A soft smile plays on his lips as he counts them one by one. 6 letters today. He plops a strawberry flavored candy that comes in one of the pretty letters in his mouth and begins to read each and every one of them.

Kyungsoo oppa, I would really appreciate it if you could accompany me to the new bubble tea stand that had just opened yesterday. I’ll be waiting at the school gates :)

Oppa, meet me behind the school building at break two, ne? I need to speak to you.

Kyungsoo oppa, I really like you. I have been since the first day I entered this school. Come eat lunch with me? I will be at the roof top ^^

Kyungsoo smiles gently and carefully slips the letters between the pages of his history text book, making sure they don’t crumple inside his bag before unwrapping the chocolate truffle that comes inside the sixth letter.

The corridors on Monday mornings are packed with students heading off to their respective classes and teachers heading to morning briefings. Kyungsoo manages to reply back some of the ‘Good mornings’ directed to him from the fellow students, but other than that, he smiles politely and rushed to his homeroom class since the first bell will ring off in a few more minutes.

 “Morning class president!” Jino waves from his seat as Kyungsoo enters the class. Almost instantly, all heads turn towards the door, to the boy that had just entered, and bright smiles and more ‘Good mornings’ are greeted to Kyungsoo.  Friendly gestures are shown as Kyungsoo makes his way towards his seat located beside the window. Kyungsoo can hear some of the girls in his class start to gush about him and when Minhyo catches his eyes, he sends her a small smile in which she responds by blushing.

“Did you see that? He smiled at me!”

“Kyungsoo oppa is so handsome today!”

“Very humble too.”

“No wonder every one adores him. He’s one my ideal type too.”

The tips of  his ears turn pink as he overheard the not-so-quite conversation of the group of girls and he opens his text book, opting to read briefly about the topic that will be discussed in class today. But it’s hard to concentrate when the loud whispers of the fan girls (and sometimes boys, yes) fills his ears, so Kyungsoo sighs, closes his book and rests his forehead against the table as he waits for their homeroom teacher to come.

To Do Kyungsoo, this is just one in so many of his normal days.
