The Phoenix [TWO-SHOT]

His hand curled around the human’s neck, and his teeth was on show as he grinned at him before moving even more forward until their chests were right against each other. Eyes connected, Baekhyun couldn’t look away, especially not when he felt as if the other was about to break his neck so easily any minute. Chanyeol tightened his hold a little before he moved his face closer and snarled a little.

“I could kill you so easily just now.” He whispered, and the human already knew that fact.

The human boy’s body trembled, the look in the other’s eyes was frightening, and he knew this was the look he shot the girls that he murdered centuries ago. Maybe he shouldn’t have let him out.

What if he leaves and begins to kill again?

“You look terrified.” Chanyeol whispered, his free hand now moved down and slipped behind and onto the curve of the other’s back, holding him tightly. The hand that was curved around the other’s throat now loosened, and Baekhyun felt life return as his neck was released. Chanyeol let his hand move down to join his other around the boy’s waist softly. “You shouldn’t be.”

There was an uncomfortable silence.

“Are you going to kill me?” The human boy’s voice was shaking in fear, and the closeness was still eliciting distress through his body.

But the phoenix just laughed.

“Kill you?” he repeated, and Baekhyun nodded firmly. “Why would I kill you?” he asked, tilting his head rather innocently, and the human could feel the other’s fingers slowly rubbing his back, ever so carefully.

But Baekhyun clearly remembered the other’s killer intent when he felt the hard hand around his throat.

Why would he think differently?

Baekhyun brought one of his hands up and rubbed his pale neck slightly, trying to show the other why he thought he was about to get mercilessly murdered. The monster chuckled before he shook his head.

“No, I’m not going to murder you. You saved me.” Chanyeol’s voice was low and deep, it almost heard as a purr.

Oh, if only that was the complete truth, Baekhyun thought.

The other moved closer, and Baekhyun could feel the breath of the other on his lips, and he froze. Chanyeol’s lips turned up into a small smirk before he tilted his head and softly brushed his lips against the others, not enough for it to be a kiss. The human’s chest was moving up and down hard.

The phoenix was about to close the very small distance between them, until the bathroom door was slammed open and someone else interrupted them and stepped in, their eyes wide with surprise at the scene.

“Baekhyun?”

The said boy jumped and turned around instantly, his eyes widening at the sight of his very own father standing in front of him, his mouth agape at what his son was doing in the bathroom with another.

“Who is… thi…s…?” Baekhyun’s father’s voice broke as he looked over at the stranger present, and the stranger’s blood red eyes sent shivers down his spine. It was utterly terrifying, and the thought that his only and precious son was alone with someone with horrible eyes like that was even more heart wrenching.

Baekhyun turned to face the phoenix who had on a sickening smile.

It was definitely not helping the situation.

“Baekhyun, come here now.” His father ordered, holding out his hand and immediately gripping onto his son’s wrist to pull him back. Once they were separated from the red-eyed being, he held tightly and whispered softly into his son’s ear. “Who is this?” he asked.

Baekhyun gulped before he looked at his parent.

“Th-This is Chanyeol.” He introduced the other, but he knew that something bad was going to happen, especially since his father’s face was as pale as snow, and his hands were trembling something awful. Looking back at the phoenix, he noticed that Chanyeol had begun to walk forward a little, the smirk still on his blood red lips, and his eyes were darkening.

“Nice to meet you Sir.” Chanyeol greeted, stopping an inch away from them and slowly bowing in courtesy.

The older man gulped slowly.

“Why are you in my house?”

Chanyeol grinned and stood straight before pointing at the boy in front of him.

“He let me in.” he said simply. The man looked to his son.

“What’s… wrong with your eyes?” He asked, and the phoenix chuckled deeply.

“I was born with them. Caused me to get thrown into the streets. But your son here, he’s amazing, he helped me.” Chanyeol explained, looking over the human boy and smirking at him and glancing over his perfect body. Baekhyun froze at the stare and looked away, feeling his cheeks becoming rather flushed.

“Please leave.”

Baekhyun’s eyes widened as he stared up at his father who had spoken the words.

It was dangerous, and he didn’t know just how dangerous it was to speak those words to the one in front of them.

The smirk that was placed on Chanyeol’s lips was now gone, and it just made him look more terrifying with his eyes. The phoenix growled a little and moved closer to the older man, bearing his teeth.

“Leave.” His father ordered, but sweat was already dripping from his temples and you could see how terrified he looked. Just as Chanyeol was about to move closer, Baekhyun moved and pressed a hand against his chest, shaking his head. The other stopped, and Baekhyun turned to his father.

“Dad, please, he’s a friend.” He whispered, holding onto his father’s arm softly as he tried to make him understand that he really shouldn’t be angering Chanyeol at all without expecting some kind of drastic consequence.

The older man looked at his son and sighed, before leaving the bathroom without another word coming out of his throat.

Once they were left alone, Baekhyun turned to the phoenix who still didn’t look all too happy.

“Chanyeol?” he whispered, his voice laced with fear.

The other looked at him and cleared his throat a little.

“Your father was rude. I didn’t like him.” Chanyeol stated, folding his arms across his chest. Baekhyun sighed.

At least he didn’t look murderous anymore.

“Just… come into the bedroom.” Baekhyun whispered, moving into his own room, hoping the other would follow him anyway. Sighing, he tried to think of what he could possibly do with the mystical creature. He couldn’t stay here with him – especially after his father had seen him – but he didn’t know where else to put him. Chanyeol probably wouldn’t leave without a fight either.

The beast followed him in, and was apparently wondering the same thing the human was, following his next question.

“What are you going to do with me?” he wondered, moving closer to Baekhyun but he kept a safe distance.

Baekhyun bit his lip a little in thought.

He really had no idea, but now that his father knew, there was no way he could stay here, but he couldn’t leave the Phoenix in the streets either, because everyone had tried that last time and it didn’t really work out for anyone, neither Chanyeol or the girls he killed in consequence.

“I really should’ve though this through…” Baekhyun whispered, not really wanting the older to hear it, but then he felt the other run forward and grin at him as he held onto his chin.

“Just tell me why you dug my up.” Chanyeol ordered.

The human gulped.

“I just… wanted to know if you were real.” The human explained his true intentions, not wanting to lie to him in case he found out and… don’t know… maybe kills him in cold blood?

“And if I was?” the other asked.

“I didn’t think it’d come to this.” The younger confessed.

Chanyeol chuckled, understanding the human’s curiosity, especially since he didn’t think he’d be alive or even able to be in there.

Sighing, he turned around and moved over to the window, looking out into modern civilisation.

“It’s interesting, life now.” Chanyeol whispered, and Baekhyun started to think the boy had a multi-personality disorder. First off, he looked like a terrified little boy, and then in the bathroom, he turned into a serial killer again, but now, he just looked like a normal adult as he gazed into the window.

It kind of scared him.

Baekhyun took a few trembling steps forward, before he stood beside Chanyeol and stared out into the window too.

“Um, Chanyeol?” he whispered, and the phoenix looked to the small human beside him before answering.

“Yes?” he asked.

“What do you want to do?” the human asked.

The Phoenix chuckled before he started to think deeply about a solution.

“I… don’t know.” Chanyeol whispered as he confessed, realising that he was pretty clueless in this day and age, and Baekhyun was really going to realise that he was a pretty murderous guy, and never let him out on the streets in the extreme case that he’d kill again.

Which he probably would.

That’s his life.

“Let’s just… stay here until we figure out something.” Baekhyun whispered, before he moved to his bed and sat on the edge of the bed, ransacking his brain for some sort of conclusion to this situation.

Hours passed, and not a single word was spoken between them.

It was just a thinking atmosphere.

That is until Chanyeol sat beside him and placed his hand on the human’s thigh, smirking at him. Baekhyun stiffened at the touch and he looked up into the Phoenix’s eyes worriedly. But the other continued on with the silence and simply started to move his hand up and down the human’s thigh, it softly before he inched even closer and placed his lips at Baekhyun’s ear.

He kissed it softly before he used his teeth to tug at it softly.

Reluctantly, Baekhyun let out a small moan but he shook his head and pushed the other’s arm slightly. Chanyeol only chuckled before he pressed his red lips against his jawline, placing butterfly kisses all over it until he used his hand to softly take a hold of Baekhyun’s chin and forced him to look at him and he pushed their lips together passionately.

Baekhyun’s eyes widened at the contact, but when he felt the other softly tugging at his lip, he closed his eyes and melted into the kiss without a single thought. Chanyeol was handsome, so this wasn’t that bad.

Bringing up his hands, he softly placed them onto Chanyeol’s shoulders and tilted his head a little to push the kiss deeper.

The older let his tongue swipe over the other’s bottom lip before he felt the human’s mouth open, letting his tongue slide in and brush up against the other’s hot muscle, at the contact.

The human mewled softly as he felt Chanyeol slowly push him down onto the bed, and their legs entangled immediately, holding each other closer as they made out passionately. Their hands entangled and Chanyeol removed his lips before placing soft kisses all over Baekhyun’s neck, biting at some parts and leaving little marks and marking his territory.

Baekhyun moaned and arched his back a little at the lovely feeling.

Running one of his hands through Chanyeol’s blonde locks, he grabbed onto it hard and pulled him back, letting their lips meeting once again.

Both of them slowly moaned against each other’s mouths and entangled their tongues in a passionate dance, fighting for dominance but Baekhyun could feel the other’s tongue move deep into his cavern, clearly winning.

As he felt Chanyeol’s foot rub up against his leg, he felt shivers run down his spine and arms, making him have goose bumps at the amazing feeling.

Both of them were kissing passionately, and they didn’t realise the bedroom door had opened.

“Get away from my son!” Baekhyun’s father’s voice surrounded the room and destroyed the silence that lingered in the air, and when Chanyeol heard it his red eyes widened and he slowly removed himself from the human and stood up, a very angered expression on his face.

Baekhyun stood up immediately too, standing in front of the phoenix.

His own eyes widened when he saw his father standing in front of him with a lot of people standing behind him too.

What the hell was going on?

Unconsciously reaching his hand behind him, he interlocked his fingers with Chanyeol’s and held on for strength.

“What are you doing Dad?” he asked, looking at all the people behind him who he has never seen before, and fear hit his body. His father sighed before he glared at the red-eyed boy behind him.

“Get away from him son, we’re here to take him away.” His father’s voice was stern and authoritive, but Baekhyun couldn’t believe what he was hearing from his own parent’s mouth.

Chanyeol sighed and leaned down, whispering into the human’s ear.

“This seems a little similar, don’t you think?”

He was referring to when he was locked up before, centuries ago. The Phoenix began to feel a bit scared just at the feeling again, but they couldn’t do it to him, he thought that they had to have something about human rights here, and as far as they knew, he was a human, and his eyes were just a weird colour.

“You can’t take him anywhere.” Baekhyun said, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Which to him it was. They couldn’t hurt him. “Seriously.” He said.

His dad sighed but he moved forward, and Baekhyun was able to see that the strangers behind him were holding all kinds of weapons, it looked like an angry mob. They really couldn’t be serious right now. When his dad reached him, he immediately grabbed his son’s wrist and pulled him away from Chanyeol whose red eyes were now filled with fire.

“Let go!” Baekhyun shouted, struggling to get away from his father’s hold but he was too strong.

Everyone then started to hear a growling sound.

They turned to Chanyeol who looked very angry and serious.

“Let him go.” Chanyeol warned, but the man didn’t move at all. Then the mob came closer with their knives, sharp pieces of woods – and some even had some fire torches. The true angry mob. The Phoenix growled again and clenched up his fists before he let out a loud scream and suddenly wings spouted from his back.

Everyone in the room gasped except from Baekhyun.

“It is the monster!” One of the strangers shouted, and Baekhyun started trembling.

This was not going to end well. Just as he elbowed his father in the stomach, causing his arm to be released, he fell frozen as he saw someone throw something at the phoenix, catching his wing and pinning it against the wall.

“Chanyeol!” he shouted, as he saw his other wing getting pinned against the wall as well.

His dad ran and grabbed him again, pulling him back and as his son started to kick his legs, Chanyeol started to pant heavily, the pain running through his body terribly just like before, even along with the pain that was already still lingering.

Letting his head fall to his chest, he started to take deep breaths as he tried to ignore the searing pain from his wings.

Baekhyun stamped on his father’s foot, before he ran to Chanyeol and cupped his cheeks, helping him look up at him and he tried to make sure if he was okay. Smiling softly, he tried to make Chanyeol feel better.

“You’re okay. I won’t let you go through this again.”

Chanyeol smiled but it was broken, the pain already hitting his brain. He looked up to see the human getting restricted once again by three strangers, the boy was screaming and it helped to hear that the other cared about him so much just after one night. His body had felt numb – maybe if he was up to his full strength, he would’ve gotten out of this – but no, he couldn’t fight.

His head fell back to his chest again, and his eyes fluttered shut and his mind drifted away into unconsciousness.

When he awoke, he felt something constricting his arms.

Looking down, a big silver chain was locked around him, forcing his arms to lock into his chest like a mummy. Struggling, he realised that he really couldn’t move an inch. Chanyeol’s wings were pinned down too, and he couldn’t feel them at all, but his back was in complete agony.

Groaning, he shook his head before he looked up and noticed that he was indeed in a hole again, but at least he could see the night sky, with the beautiful stars gazing down upon him, it brought him ease.

Gulping, he watched as Baekhyun’s father took a hold of the coffin-like box’s lid, his face drawn and drowned in tears for some reason. Chanyeol glared at him hard, but his father’s fierce gaze was worse.

“This is all your fault.” The man whispered, but Chanyeol didn’t understand.

What was his fault?

He could hear murmurs of the other strangers, telling Baekhyun’s father that he was doing the right thing, and that everyone who associates with the beast should be locked up, they were dangerous as well.

Before the lid was fully closed, the man placed a small lit lantern beside his head and shut it, letting Chanyeol at least see a little.

He could already hear the dirt getting tossed on top of him.

But he wasn’t going to scream like last time.

Not one murmur passed his lips.

He just hoped he was going to drift into sleep like last time.

“O-Oh god…”

Chanyeol’s eyes widened at the sound of a trembling voice. It definitely wasn’t his.

Please… no…

The Phoenix slowly turned his head and his mouth fell agape.

“Baekhyun!” he shouted, and the boy was crying like hell, his limbs trembling, but at least he was constricted, he must’ve been unconscious when he was put down here. But why was he put down here? Why was a father killing his own son? “What are you doing down here?!” he shouted, and Baekhyun shook his head, tears falling down his cheeks.

There was silence until Chanyeol sighed.

He wished he could move so he could comfort the boy.

But words would have to do.

“Please, just be calm, okay?” he ordered, but he could see Baekhyun was hyperventilating and he had to try a different route. “Baekhyun, throw your arms over my chest, cuddle into me, please.”

Baekhyun shook his head, fear striking his body too much to move.

The Phoenix gulped.

“Please, do it.”

Minutes passed, and he felt Baekhyun slowly moving before he felt the human cuddling into his chest, delving his head into his shoulder, and letting his tears run down the Phoenix’s shoulder.

“Am I going… t-to d-die?” Baekhyun asked, his voice dry and sore.

Chanyeol shook his head, and when the human looked up into his face, he gave him his best calming smile.

“No, we’ll just do what I did last time, and sleep. Okay?” Chanyeol whispered, and Baekhyun nodded, moving up and pressing his lips against the others and passionately kissing him to calm himself down.

He could feel his body relaxing, but the fear was still there.

“Just sleep.” Chanyeol repeated, and the human’s eyes began to close.

The words kept on getting repeated.

“Just sleep.”

“Just sleep.”

“Just sleep.”

Chanyeol had his own eyes closed, and they both drifted off into slumber.

160 years later.

“Are we going to find anything?” One of them asked, holding the torch light to the ground, groaning because his arm was already beginning to hurt. “Or are you sending us on a wild goose chase?” he wondered before he felt his friend hit him on the arm with a glare.

“Shut up Kyungsoo, just keep the torch steady.” The other ordered, the spade digging deep into the dirt and he threw it to the side, searching hungrily.

The other one there, sighed and helped with the digging.

“You alright there Jongin?” Kyungsoo asked, smirking as the boy had sweat drenching his face.

“Yes Kyungsoo.” Jongin whispered back, focusing on the job.

“Chen, you alright?” The torch boy asked, but the digger just ignored him.

Hours passed, and Jongin was soon to pass out, and Kyungsoo was sure that his arm was literally about to fall off. Chen, however, was working harder than before, before he felt his spade hit something that was definitely not dirt, and he felt his heartbeat speed up in his chest.

“Guys! I got it!” Chen shouted, and immediately the other two dived down into the hole and helped him throw the dirt away.

Finally when it was clear, Chen’s eyes widened in excitement when he saw the top of a wooden box. Using the spade, he etched it onto the side, and began using all of his strength to pry it open. The wood cracked, and the three boys gasped when the lid simply fell off.

The sight was amazing.

“It’s real.” Kyungsoo whispered, using the torch to shine into the box.

“The legend… I can’t believe it.”

“I told you guys.”

All three of them looked down at the two bodies huddled together in the tight space, the lantern had long burned out, but the two were in miraculous condition, still looking healthy. It was simply impossible.

“What do we do?” Kyungsoo asked, but Chen moved forward instantly, putting out his hand and he let it slide over the smaller one’s cheeks. When their skin connected, a jolt of electricity ran through the boy and he fell back, shaking his hand off the wondrous and painful feeling.

“Are you okay?!” Jongin asked, but Chen’s eyes were settled on another place.

Kyungsoo and Jongin couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

2 pairs of red eyes were staring back at them, smirks etched onto their lips.

They should’ve listened to the legend.

Fin.
