Chapter 4

DRESS

Sulli left Kevin with the laundry shop owner. He was kind enough to keep a look at him while she’s on her job. She needs to go to work from 8PM to 4AM.

When Sulli got in her job. She realized she doesn’t know anything about pleasing anyone.

She tried to sing for the old men. She tried to dance. But when they still seem to be not happy.

“Enough of that girly dance!” said one of the Ajussi

“Give us what we really want.” Said the other.

One of them chose a song in the karaoke. And it’s one of those y songs….are they expecting her to dance to this song?!

“I’m sorry but I didn’t prepare any dance for this song.” Said Sulli

Sulli had been asked to put on make-up and to wear a short dress provided to her by the Karaoke House.

“Well then..if you don’t have any…then just sit down here beside us.” Said another.

Sulli hesitantly followed. When she got to her seat, one of the Ajussi touched her leg.

“Please stop Ajussi.” Said Sulli trying to push the Ajussi’s hand away.

“C’mon don’t be shy. We’ll surely request you again next time if you make us really happy.” Said the Ajussi

Happy? They mean touching and erted things?!

What does she know about those things!?

“I’m sorry Ajussi…I think I’ll just request someone else to replacement me then.” Said Sulli standing up

But the other 2 Ajussis held her arms. Sulli was able to pull her arm free from one of them and slapped the other. She immediately went out of the room and went running to the dressing room.

After a few minutes, the female owner came in angrily. Sulli stood up shaking…she still hasn’t gotten over those molesting old men.

The owner slapped Sulli hard on the face. Sulli felt dizzy for a moment.

“You came here knowing what this work entails. Those men are directors of big companies. They pay us big time! If you can’t take on this work, then you shouldn’t have accepted our offer!” said the female owner

“I’m..sorry…But…I just can’t let them touch me like that…” said Sulli

“Oh..are you pretending to be an innocent? I heard you already have a child. You should take that pretense to an acting school. But not here in this Karaoke house. Here, if you don’t like what they do to you, you still let them. Though you want to cry, you still smile. Though you feel dirty by their touch, you won’t stop them. Now if you can’t bear that. Then leave. I can afford to lose another girl here. But I can’t afford to lose valued customers!” said the female owner

Sulli can’t lose this job that pays 3 times her salary in the laundry shop. But she can’t bear this work…

She needs to stay…for a bit..until she saves the money to pay for Kevin’s school.

When the female owner left, Sulli noticed blood on the side of her lips. She immediately cleansed it and put foundation to cover it. She took a deep breath and went to the counter to ask for her next customer.

She went to room 16. When she got in she saw 4 men. This time, these men do not look like old erted Ajussis. They seem to be around mid 20s to 30s. She did not care looking at their faces anymore. They are all the same. Young or old, they are here to molest women.

Sulli greeted them.

“Hi I’m Shine.” Said Sulli

“Shine…not a bad name for a pretty lady.” Said one of them

“Thank you” said Sulli “Do you want me to sing for you?”

Sulli felt like someone is staring at her. But they all are, right? So she doesn’t care anymore.

“Yes please sing for us.” Said the other.

Sulli opened the song book and chose a song.

She plugged the song in and started singing. One of the guys walked towards her and touched her hand. Sulli immediately felt disgust. But she did not show it. The guy placed her hand on his shoulder as if their dancing into a ballroom.

“Smile a little, Shine. I am sure you’ll look lovelier if you do.” Said the guy

Sulli tried to smile a bit

“Yeah..that’s good.” The guy placed his hand on Sulli’s cheek and down .

“This is going to be an exciting night.” Said the guy

Sulli felt like she needs to throw up. She feels disgusted each passing second!

“Get out.” Said a voice from within the room

Sulli is surprised upon hearing one of the men

“I said get out.” Said the man

Sulli searched for where the voice is coming from. And that’s when she finally saw… The man on the corner….

Is Minho Choi

“But Minho…I was just playing with her.” Said the guy in front of Sulli

 “Don’t be a joy killer, Minho. It’s his birthday. I thought we agreed to celebrate it the way he wants it?” said the other guy

“I said get out!” said Minho shouting

The guy in front of Sulli immediately took 5 steps away from Sulli

“Cool down Dude…” said the birthday boy

“Everyone…get out.” Said Minho

“But Man-“

“GET…OUT!”

The 3 men immediately went out. Sulli placed the microphone on the table and also turned to leave.

“Not you. You stay.” Said Minho

Sulli felt fear…This man always intimidates her…but today…he’s specially scary.

Sulli closed her eyes tight trying to control her fear. And then she faced Minho who was then already
