YongGuk called Jjiluldo his home, but he wouldn't have said so proudly. He shared his home with gangs, drug dealers, corrupt politicians and corporations and a dangerous underground that he'd done everything to avoid. Criminals and low-lifes frequented the garage he ran, free to do so as long as their dealings were kept away from his own relatively legal business. His own life had been woven between both sides of the law; he kept out of their way and they kept out of his. He had himself to protect--and people, his friends, about whom he cared greatly.
His first meeting with the vigilante shook him, fascinated him. His second meeting exhilerated him, pushed him to learn more. She was a force Jjiluldo has never seen, one for which it had never been prepared. Skills unmatched, identity cleverly concealed, and a motivation clouded in the blood she'd spilled, this vigilante was every bit as ruthless as she was righteous.
She was a force to be reckoned with, a bullet on an unchanging path.
And YongGuk was staring straight down the barrel of the loaded gun.
Bullet to the Heart is an action/thriller fic set in the fictional city of Jjiluldo. It was inspired by comic-book characters and their vigilantism, shaped by ideas found in the TV series based off of the Green Arrow1, CW's "Arrow"2.
I aim for this fic to be highly story and character-driven, and it should be noted before the start that while there may be romance, it will not be the entire focus of this story, nor will it be light-hearted and warm.
As such, this fic contains descriptions of violence and mature subject matter (and perhaps social commentary, if you squint). Reader discretion is advised.
1This is in no way affiliated with DC Comics, any of their writers and staff, or the CW.
2Fun fact: the fictional city in which Arrow is set is called "Starling City". "Jjiluldo" is an abbreviated and modified portmantaeu of 찌르레기 (Jilullegi) and 도시(Doshi): the direct Korean translation for Starling City.
Of course, this story is entirely fictional. All characters, regardless of their likeness to any real person, is only made up, and is in no way affiliated or a reflection of those people.
