In a small community, a ruthless group of people spend their time following the orders of someone they haven't even met. All they know about this leader is the letter 'D'...and that he is always watching. He knows when someone steps out of line, and he sends his people to act upon it. But how could someone justify the fact that they're doing cruel and unusual acts from the words of an invisible person? Why would they even think to follow his orders and go on with their own lives? 

There is only one word that these people respond upon questioning: Fear.

"Fear. It’s what drives the best of us insane. It’s a nasty disease that starts to form in your gut, and it slowly builds until it creeps up and starts to invade each nerve in your body. Hair starts to rise, and your heart begins to race. Before you know it, you’re blinded by whatever is plaguing your mind and you act out. Some follow the orders of another while others hole themselves up and try to escape this nightmare. Sometimes, this dreadful thing doesn’t leave us until the day of our deaths. It attaches and eats off of our being like a deadly parasite. And the only one that can stop the fear from overcoming is the one being attacked."

The fear that surrounds the people within the community attracts the attention of an uncertified detective. With her experience and own motives, this detective begins to work hard to uncover D's real identity by forming relationships with the members of his gang. As she realizes the fear that festers within the group and grows attached to most of them, will she be able to complete such a goal before she is snuffed out by D's all-encompasing persona?
