Things Best Left Forgotten

Description

Childhood. The time when most children build up precious memories to be reflected on later with warm smiles and happy hearts. Most of my own childhood was documented for me; in the form of pictures and videos. Whenever I'd feel nostalgic, I'd pop a tape into the old VCR and watch, delighted by the sight of myself as a curious and mumbling child still growing up and learning the ways of the world.

With the knowledge that I posses now, after a conversation with my father, I don't think I can watch them with the same fondness ever again. My eyes will no longer be looking at myself. No. I'll be searching for signs. Any and all signs of the secret I now have to carry.

Every family has their trials and tribulations, and ours in comparison to others may be miniscule, but when a foundation has a crack in it, it's hard not to notice.
