Description

Sehun had read once “feelings that come back are feelings that never left” and to his horror, Jongin was the first thing that came to mind.

Foreword

—- never trust a guy who uses :3 in his messages —-

Sehun’s laying on the the love seat in Suho’s apartment phone in hand scrolling through his tumblr dash, laughing to himself once in awhile when he comes across a funny gif.  There’s some sort of singing montage playing in the background and Suho’s humming along on the couch next to him. They’re watching Tangled again because there isn’t anything but reruns of the real housewives of atlanta on tv on a Saturday night, but do you really need a reason to watch disney movies on any night? Sehun doesn’t think so. He’s reblogging yet another picture of DBSK’s most recent photoshoot, tagged #smoulder, eyebrows furrowed in thought. Is that how you spell smolder? It looks kind of weird. He closes the app, about to google “smoulder” when he notices an alert on his messages: a bright red two. He opens messages wondering who the texts were from. He hadn’t talked to anyone today and he rarely got texts.

Kai.

The name surprises him. They hadn’t talked for a few months and to be honest, Sehun doesn’t know if hewants to start talking to Jongin again. He lets out a sigh and clicks on the message. He can’t really ignore it. The last time he’d done that Jongin had called him out on it. He wishes Jongin wasn’t so aggressive sometimes.

-Sehun

-I’m back!

Back? Sehun thinks in confusion. It’s early April and spring break had passed a couple months ago. Was it already summer break? Sehun locks his phone and lays it beside him. He knows he’ll have to respond soon. He can’t just pretend he hadn’t seen it. Though he’s known in his circle of friends as a lousy texter, sometimes going days before responding, he can’t just not reply on purpose, he’d be thinking about it all night. Besides, Jongin would know; he always knows. On the tv Rapunzel’s getting her hair braided by some village kids.

“I like her hair like that,” Suho comments, “I wish they hadn’t chopped it all off.”

“They’re trying to make her look like Mandy Moore,” Sehun replies, “She has short brown hair.”

“But she’s a princess. She should have longer hair.” Suho’s getting a little too riled up about princess hair and though Sehun would usually argue just to piss him off, he’s distracted with thoughts of Jongin. He feels strange, like there’s some sort of pressure inside of him, squeezing his lungs. Really there’s no reason to act like this, Sehun berates himself. Jongin was… is one of his closest friends. He should be happy the guy’s back in town, but Sehun doesn’t know if he’s ready to spend a few months hanging out with Jongin again. He types his password in and unlocks his phone, opens messages and begins to type: when’d you get back? No, that sounds strange like he’s interrogating the guy or like he doesn’t want to see Jongin. He deletes the message and thinks about what he should say.

- Oh Yea?

- For summer break? :3

He tries to sound excited, but not overly excited. Was that emoticon weird? Should he have used a regular smilie instead? God, why was he stressing over a happy face? If it’s this stressful just texting the guy, how would Sehun handle seeing him in person? At least he’s replied now. He can just leave it at that until Jongin texts him back and that could take hours, maybe days. Jongin is as bad when it comes to these things as Sehun. This usually makes Sehun anxious, checking his phone for new texts every couple of minutes, but right now he’s glad for it. But just as Sehun’s about to give Flynn Rider his full attention, the phone dings. Just his luck.

-Yeah a whole week and half

Sehun relaxes. Thank god for strange foreign school systems. A week he can handle.

-Yay. We should hang out.

Sehun stares at his phone, expecting a reply, but of course Jongin being Jongin, he doesn’t. Sehun wonders if he should ask him to dinner or something, but decides better of it. He’s done what’s expected of him. He’d offered to hang out. It’s up to Jongin, now, to ask Sehun. If he does then Sehun will make time, and if he doesn’t, well that’s that then.

Sehun puts his phone on the floor. Out of sight out of mind, he thinks. On screen his favorite scene is starting. The king and queen let the first lantern float into the sky and as it passes by, a million lanterns light up and follow it. That strange pressure is back in his chest again as he watches Flynn Rider and Rapunzel look into each other’s eyes and sing their duet. This is one of the best moments in all of Disney history, he thinks. Sehun stares at the screen pretending these strange feelings are due to the movie and he certainly doesn’t think of the boy who’d left him behind a year ago.
