Infinite didn't think about BAP very much after their encounter. But for some reason, Haneul did. Some of their faces stayed in her mind after that night, and she wasn't sure why. She thought about the boy that had been watching her, Daehyun, and wondered if maybe she had passed him in the streets before when she was out with Infinite. She hadn't met any other humans, so there was no reason why his face should have seemed so familiar. She remembered that he had placed his lips against her hand, but she wasn't sure what exactly it was that he did, or even why. She wanted to ask Infinite what it meant, but she wasn't even sure what the action was called. She had, however, come across a human word that did well in describing how she felt about this language that she still wasn't used to—irritated.
With a huff of frustration, she decided to put off thinking too hard about it for now, since she had more pressing things to deal with. She was going to visit the sisters at the medicine shop again, and the hardest thing was narrowing down what questions she wanted to ask them. Too many questions, and she knew she would end up leaving with even fewer answers from their strange riddles. Maybe she would ask them for a human dictionary; at least that might be helpful.
Dongwoo wanted very much to come along and help her again, but since he was busy, Sungyeol offered to take her to see the sisters in his place so that she wouldn't be disappointed. Inside the familiar shop, Haneul marveled at the dusty old books and trinkets that never seemed to be sold. A small, short haired cat walked along the edge of the front desk before sitting down at the very corner, its tail drooping lazily over the side of the worn teak surface. Haneul vaguely remembered seeing a cat on her last visit, but it drew her attention more strongly now. Its fur was completely white, save for the tip of its tail, which was black. The eyes that looked back at her with curiosity were also different colors—one was blue, while the other was golden. The cat blinked once at the two strangers that had intruded upon its valuable napping time, and Sungyeol blinked back in fascination, reaching out to pet the furry creature.
Just then, Haeyang emerged from the back of the shop, and the cat disappeared behind the counter.
"Halmoni," Haneul greeted her with a smile, "It's good to see you."
Sungyeol introduced himself, then did a double take as her twin, Haein, entered the room. Looking at their contradicting appearances that defied age, it was no wonder Dongwoo had warned him that the sisters were strange.
"I'm afraid I have even more questions that last time, so it seems," Haneul scratched the back of her head, "I wanted to come see you, but now I don't even know where to begin."
"I usually find that a good place to start, is the beginning of things—the very first part," Haeyang smiled, as if her advice was actually helpful in some way.
"Well… I still want to know about my home," Haneul tried, but she knew that with the sisters it just wasn't going to be that simple.
"You know we can only tell you so much," Haeyang reminded her, "Narrow your capacious scope just a touch."
"Why don't you do that weird little voice-in-your-head-thingy?" Sungyeol whispered, moving his fingers around in a waving gesture like he was casting a spell, "Maybe they'll understand you better."
"Well isn't this one clever, knowing of such inner treasures," Haein clapped her hands together in delight, amused that human would know anything about the abilities of an angel.
"What clouds your mind and burdens your heart? Let such questions bloom and your worries depart," Haeyang nodded reassuringly as she took Haneul's hands in her own.
Haneul let all her experiences since their last visit flow through their clasped palms, even the ones that hardly seemed relevant—everything from shopping with Sungjong, her dream about the palace, seeing her parents, admiring the moon on the rooftop with L, getting lost in a crowd, and watching Hoya fight, all the way up to meeting BAP. All these images flashed through her mind, and she knew that Haeyang was able to see them just as clearly. But as the last few moments of memory receded, Haeyang's gentle smile began to disappear.
"O twisted fate, how curious indeed. Come sister; draw near—my eyes must mislead," Haeyang exclaimed, unable to believe what she was seeing. Haein joined them, also taking Haneul's hand in her own. After a moment, her eyes widened, and a dark expression fell upon her face.
"You know them?" Haneul inquired, "Who are they?"
Haeyang tutted quietly as she rested a careful hand over , while Haein was practically fuming with the rage building i
