Please Don't - Prolouge

“…leave me.”

His whisper is hushed. It exits his lips in a cool white mist. 

But the body before him stops. There’s a moment of hesitation as long, thin legs move to sit inside the spacious cab.

“What? Did you say something Hyung?”

There’s nothing in the answering voice to make him repeat his words. 

A questioning curiosity.

Nothing else. 

A grin, bright and fake, white and soulless, yearning and forgotten.

“Nothing.”

The answering smile is just as oblivious and typical as its owner. 

There’s a crunch of gravel, a sound of a acceleration.

A broad wave goodbye. 

The light from the street lamp makes the shadows under his eyes more severe. 

He touches the thin skin hesitantly. 

It’s wet…and warm. 

How strange, he feels so cold. 

He watches the black car make its way down the narrow, winding road, away from his small apartment. Away from his tall stature, leaning against the icy streetlamp whose light still flickers after all these years. 

“Please don’t leave me.”

He’s able to say it louder now, but it’s not easy.

It’s never been easy.
