In a never ending grass field far away, fluffy, full, white clouds leisurely floated away, into the clear ocean of the sky.

“Wait…” a long-haired, lean girl called out softly. She was the only one in this place, with only a cotton dress on. Her hand, stretched out, reached longingly towards the leaving clouds then slowly closed, as if trying to grasp the impossible.

As she lowered her head, she noticed something glowing in her loosely closed hand—it seemed to have appeared out of thin air. Upon opening her fist, a yellowish-orange, light-like orb drifted up and seemed to dance around her. The orb nudged the girl’s cheek, trying to persuade the girl to dance with it. With the break of a smile, many smaller orbs appeared [out of nowhere] and danced with the first one. The girl laughed, and moved with the orbs across the field, enjoying the orbs’ company as if she had never encountered any living thing in her life.

Suddenly, a gust of wind blew the girl’s hair about, making her stand still. She blinked continuously, and shook her head, trying to clear her view, only to see the hovering orbs hurrying away, bobbing up and down. Her shoulders slumped and she hugged her elbows.

Wondering why they would leave, she looked around her with big, concerned eyes. Vast, dark clouds were looming towards her, in the opposite direction of where the orbs had fled. Leading the clouds was a larger, bright green orb, seeming to have its head held high in pride, as it glided towards her.

Her breathing became irregular as the green orb came closer; it was as if the dark clouds were away all the air. Her legs gave way and she fell to the ground. She sat with her back hunched, head low, hands clenching the grass and feet behind her. Wanting her breathing to be normal, she put her left fist to her chest, took long breaths and closed her eyes in concentration.

A tear slipped out as she opened her eyes.
